For awkward installation work, choose the M12 FUEL Installation Drill/Driver; for portable lighting, the M12 ROVER flood light; for pocket cutting, the FASTBACK knife; for measuring, the 12-foot compact tape; and for powered fastening, the M12 subcompact impact driver. These five picks address different jobs rather than competing for one overall “best” spot. The specifications below come from Milwaukee’s product pages, not independent testing.

For tight installations: M12 FUEL Installation Drill/Driver
The 2505-20 is the most adaptable pick here when the challenge is getting a driver or drill head into an obstructed spot. Milwaukee says the tool “features 4 dedicated solutions”: a 3/8-inch chuck, offset driver, 1/4-inch hex, and right-angle attachment. The heads can be fitted in 16 positions, and Milwaukee lists up to 300 inch-pounds of torque. That head variety makes it a feature-based choice for access-sensitive installation work, not a claim that it outperforms other tools in testing.
Milwaukee lists electrical, cabinet installation, maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), HVAC, automotive, and remodeling among its applications. For portable light: M12 ROVER Multi-Directional Flood Light
The 2350-20 is designed for changing work positions: its head moves, and Milwaukee lists three output modes and up to 1,200 lumens. Mounting options include a magnet, integrated hang hook, nail hook, and the included PACKOUT twist-to-lock mount. Milwaukee rates runtime at up to four hours on high when using an M12 XC4.0 battery pack; that figure is specific to the stated battery and high mode, not a general runtime for every M12 battery or setting.

The product page also lists IP54 dust and water resistance, impact resistance up to 9 feet, USB-C device charging, a 5-year tool warranty, and a limited-lifetime LED warranty. Check Milwaukee’s 2350-20 specifications.
For pocket cutting: FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife
The 48-22-1500 is the hand-tool choice when you want a compact cutter rather than a powered tool. Its press-and-flip opening and tool-free blade change are the defining features. Milwaukee also lists a wire belt clip, a scoring blade holder, a metal extension over the release button intended to help prevent accidental blade removal, and a tether-ready lanyard hole.

The 48-22-6612 covers quick measurements without adding a cordless platform to your kit. Milwaukee lists a 12-foot SAE blade, nylon coating, a five-point reinforced frame, fractional scale, stamped steel belt clip, and limited lifetime warranty. Its product page describes up to 12 feet of reach as well as a 12-foot blade; these are separate descriptions of the product, not a reason to assume extra reach beyond the stated 12 feet.

For compact powered fastening: M12 Subcompact Brushless Impact Driver
The 3450-20 is the powered fastening option when a 1/4-inch hex impact driver suits the fastener and bit. Milwaukee lists a 4.3-inch length, 2.0-inch width, up to 1,100 inch-pounds of torque, up to 3,000 RPM, and up to 4,100 impacts per minute. Its stated weight is 1.7 pounds with battery.

An impact driver is not simply a smaller drill/driver: this model uses a 1/4-inch hex interface and is intended for driving, while the installation drill/driver offers a chuck and multiple attachment heads for installation access and varied tasks. How to choose among these five
- Choose for access: The installation drill/driver is the pick for a job that benefits from its four attachment heads and adjustable head positions.
- Choose for visibility: The ROVER fits work where you need a movable light and flexible mounting options.
- Choose for pocket carry: The FASTBACK is a folding manual knife, while the tape measure handles compact measuring tasks.
- Choose for powered driving: The impact driver is for fastening with a 1/4-inch hex bit; it is not a substitute for every drill/driver task.
- Check what you already own: For the cordless models, confirm M12 battery and charger compatibility and whether the specific listing is tool-only or a kit. The two tool-only listings described above do not include a battery; the impact driver listing also excludes the charger.
