Choose based on your platform and the kind of experience you want. Buy SILENT HILL 2 Remake if you want a modern remake of the 2001 game; choose SILENT HILL f if you want a new chapter with announced Standard and Deluxe editions. Both are listed for current-generation consoles and PC, but edition contents, prices and stock vary by country. Silent Hill: Townfall has a Steam listing dated September 23, 2026; check its live regional listing before treating it as an available purchase.
The short answer
For most shoppers comparing currently listed releases, the decision is between SILENT HILL 2 Remake and SILENT HILL f. They serve different purposes rather than being alternate editions of the same game:

- SILENT HILL 2 Remake is Konami’s full remake of SILENT HILL 2, first released in 2001. It is the choice for someone who specifically wants that story and setting rebuilt for modern hardware.
- SILENT HILL f is presented by Konami as a new chapter. It is the choice if you want a current, standalone entry rather than a remake of a known 2001 release.
- Silent Hill: Townfall appears on Steam with a September 23, 2026 release date. Because that date and availability come from a storefront snapshot, confirm that the product can be purchased in your country and check which platforms are actually offered.
There is no evidence-based universal winner. Your console, PC storefront, preference for a remake or new chapter, and need for a disc should determine the purchase. Prices, local stock, compatibility and bonus contents are not stable enough to state globally.
What is available on each platform?
The following table separates officially listed platform information from assumptions about older hardware. Konami’s pages identify current-generation platforms; they do not establish support for older consoles or Nintendo systems.

A platform name in an announcement is not the same as guaranteed access in every country. Storefront age ratings, language options, payment methods, tax and local release timing can differ. Open the store attached to your own account, not a search result from another region.
Pick the remake or the new chapter
When SILENT HILL 2 Remake is the better fit
Choose the remake when your priority is experiencing the 2001 SILENT HILL 2 through a modern production. Konami describes it as a full remake, and its Xbox listing identifies a concrete design change: the original’s fixed-camera viewpoints are replaced by an over-the-shoulder perspective. That is a version distinction, not proof that one version is objectively better.
This option makes sense if you:
- Want the game whose source release dates to 2001 rather than a newly introduced chapter.
- Prefer a contemporary camera style over the original fixed-camera presentation.
- Own a PS5, Xbox Series X|S or a compatible PC storefront supported by the current listing.
- Are comfortable checking the exact edition and format in your regional store because a complete physical inventory is not established here.
When SILENT HILL f is the better fit
Choose SILENT HILL f when you want a new entry and want a clearly announced choice between Standard and Deluxe digital purchasing. Konami lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Windows availability. The US PlayStation Store specifically lists a PS5 Standard Edition.

This option makes sense if you:
- Want a new chapter rather than a remake of a 2001 game.
- Need a physical option: Konami announced physical and digital Standard Editions.
- Want to consider a digital Deluxe Edition, while recognizing that its exact bonuses and regional price must be checked on the live store.
- Play on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 or PC and want to match your purchase to one of the announced storefronts.
The available official information does not provide a continuity guide or required play order between these releases. Do not buy one expecting it to be a prerequisite for the other unless the current product information in your region says so.
Edition and format guide
Standard Edition
For SILENT HILL f, Konami announced both physical and digital Standard Editions. A Standard Edition is the straightforward choice when you want the base release and do not need digital extras. Before checkout, confirm whether a physical listing is a disc for your console, whether it is new or used, and whether the seller ships to your country.
The US PlayStation Store’s PS5 listing is identified as Standard Edition. That label should not be generalized to every platform or country; Xbox and PC storefronts may use different product names or bundle structures.
Digital Deluxe Edition
Konami announced a digital Deluxe Edition for SILENT HILL f. The cited information does not establish a physical Deluxe Edition, a universal bonus list or a permanent entitlement to every promotional item. Read the live store’s “included” section before paying a premium. If you require a disc, the announced physical Standard Edition is the relevant format to investigate.

The cited product pages establish platforms for SILENT HILL 2 Remake, but they do not establish a complete, current list of physical editions or retailer stock. Do not infer that a disc, steelbook, collector’s version or Deluxe package exists in your region. Search your console’s regional store or an authorized retailer and verify the platform label, edition name and delivery format.
Why edition names can mislead
“Deluxe,” “launch,” “digital,” and “standard” can describe different entitlements by platform and territory. A bonus advertised for one store may be absent from another, and a one-time pre-order item may not remain available. Save a screenshot or receipt of the inclusion list if the bonus matters to you.
How to buy the correct version
- Identify your hardware. Write down PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC before searching. Do not select an older-console listing simply because its title is similar; the cited pages do not confirm older-console support.
- Open the matching regional storefront. Use the account and country where you will play. This is the only reliable place to confirm local currency, taxes, release status and payment eligibility.
- Choose the game by intent. Select SILENT HILL 2 Remake for the remake of the 2001 release, or SILENT HILL f for the new chapter.
- Check the exact platform label. On console, confirm PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. On PC, confirm whether the listing is Steam, Epic Games or another Windows storefront you actually use.
- Choose format and edition. For SILENT HILL f, compare physical Standard, digital Standard and digital Deluxe. For the remake, verify whether the particular listing is physical or digital rather than assuming.
- Read the included-content panel. Confirm the base game, any downloadable content, early-access language, soundtracks or cosmetic items. Do not rely on a retailer headline alone.
- Check hardware and account requirements. Confirm available storage, operating-system requirements and whether an online connection is required for installation or updates. The cited material does not provide those technical specifications, so use the live product page.
- Review the final price and return terms. Prices and promotions are region-specific and change over time. A digital purchase may have different refund rules from a physical disc.
- Verify the order confirmation. The confirmation should name the game, platform and edition you selected. Resolve a mismatch before downloading or opening a physical package.
Buying scenarios
“I own a PS5 and want the classic story.”
Start with SILENT HILL 2 Remake. Konami lists a PS5 storefront for it, and the remake is explicitly tied to the 2001 game. Confirm whether your local store offers a disc or digital version and compare the edition names shown there.

“I own a PS5 and want a new release on disc.”
Investigate the physical Standard Edition of SILENT HILL f. Konami announced that format, while the US PlayStation Store lists a PS5 Standard Edition. Check the retailer’s region, stock and delivery format; a digital Deluxe listing is not a substitute for a disc.
“I play on Xbox Series X|S.”
Both SILENT HILL 2 Remake and SILENT HILL f have Xbox Series X|S availability in the cited announcements. Open the Xbox store for your country and compare the exact edition and format. Do not assume Xbox One compatibility from the Series X|S label.
“I play on PC.”
For the remake, use the PC storefront identified by Konami’s product page. For SILENT HILL f, Konami announced Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Windows availability. Select the storefront tied to your account, then read its system requirements and edition contents. These requirements are not supplied in the cited product facts and should not be guessed.
“I want the newest listed release.”
Silent Hill: Townfall is shown on Steam with a September 23, 2026 release date. Since that date is taken from a storefront snapshot and availability can vary by country, open the live Steam page first. Confirm that it is purchasable in your region, that your preferred platform is supported and that the displayed edition is the one you intend to buy.
“I have an older console.”
The cited pages do not establish support for older PlayStation or Xbox generations, Nintendo hardware or cross-generation upgrades. Search the exact model in your regional store. A title appearing in a franchise listing is not proof that it runs on your console.

- This is Korean Version released in Korea. Region free title so you can play it on your System.
- Korean Edition supports Multi language Subtitles: English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean
- Having received a letter from his deceased wife, James heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time: SILENT HILL. There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her... "My name...is Maria," the woman smiles. Her face, her voice... She's just like her. Experience a master class in psychological survival horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.
What is known about the series timeline?
Konami’s 2025 Group Report says the Silent Hill series launched in 1999 and that the SILENT HILL 2 remake launched in October 2024. Those dates provide context for the remake-versus-new-entry decision; they do not determine which game you will prefer.
The evidence here does not establish a complete catalogue of every older game, current retrocompatibility in each region or a definitive play order. If you are trying to buy an earlier entry, verify its current legal storefront listing and platform support separately rather than assuming that a modern release includes it.

Buying the wrong platform version
Symptom: The title appears correct, but the order page names a different console or PC storefront.
Fix: Cancel before redeeming a code or opening a disc where possible, then return to the store filtered to your hardware. Match the platform label in the confirmation email to the device you own.

Fix: For SILENT HILL f, the announced Deluxe Edition is digital. Look specifically for the announced physical Standard Edition if you need a disc, and read the seller’s format field.
Relying on another country’s price or stock
Symptom: A search result shows a price, promotion or “in stock” message that disappears at checkout.
Fix: Switch to your own store region and account. Currency conversion, taxes, release timing and inventory can change the final offer.

Treating a storefront date as a guarantee of access
Symptom: You see the September 23, 2026 Townfall date but cannot purchase it locally.
Fix: Check the live Steam listing’s purchase button, region notice and supported operating system. A dated listing alone does not establish availability in every country.
Expecting the remake to look or play exactly like the original
Symptom: You expected fixed-camera viewpoints from the 2001 game.
Fix: The Xbox listing identifies an over-the-shoulder perspective in the remake. Treat that as a deliberate version difference and decide whether that presentation suits you before buying.
