First identify where the restriction is set: Samsung Kids, Samsung Account family controls, or Google Family Link. They are separate systems, and leaving Samsung Kids does not turn off supervision on a child’s Google account. Use the route below only for a device or account you or your parent or guardian is authorized to manage.
Identify the control before changing anything

Samsung Kids is an app environment with its own PIN. Family Link and Samsung Account family controls are account-level features. A Samsung Galaxy can have more than one of these in use at once, so identify the exact restriction before taking action.
Close Samsung Kids with the PIN
- On the Samsung Kids Home screen, tap More options (the three vertical dots).
- Tap Close Samsung Kids.
- Enter the configured Samsung Kids PIN when prompted.
Samsung says the PIN is required to exit Samsung Kids and to adjust its settings and features. The same support page says Samsung Kids supports up to six child profiles. Samsung Kids on your Galaxy phone or tablet.

Samsung’s US support instructions describe an email recovery process after five incorrect PIN attempts in a row. From the email address registered for the feature, send a blank email to kidshome.pin@samsung.com. Samsung says it will reply with a temporary password that you can use to reset the PIN. Check the spam folder if the reply does not arrive.

This is Samsung’s documented recovery route, not a bypass. The instructions are from Samsung’s US support page; availability or details may differ by country or software revision. See Samsung’s Samsung Kids support guide.
Change Samsung Kids to use the phone’s screen lock
- Open Samsung Kids and tap More options > Settings.
- Tap Lock type for Parental controls.
- Select Phone’s screen lock and follow the prompts.
If the phone does not have a screen lock set up, Samsung instructs users to close Samsung Kids with the current PIN, then go to Settings > Security and privacy > Lock screen > Screen lock to set one. The next time Samsung Kids is used, the device lock will be requested. Menu labels can vary by software version.

Know what “Reset Samsung Kids” does
Samsung Kids settings include Reset Samsung Kids, which Samsung describes as resetting the app and all related information. That is different from simply closing Samsung Kids. Use it only if you intend to reset that app data and have retained access to the device and relevant account; Samsung does not say this removes Google Family Link supervision. Manage Google Family Link supervision
Family Link supervision is tied to the child’s Google account, so exiting Samsung Kids will not remove it. Samsung’s US guide describes setup on Galaxy phones through Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Parental controls, followed by signing in and verifying the child’s Google account. The Family Link controls can cover device settings, app limits, content restrictions, and optional location sharing. Samsung says this setup path applies to devices running One UI 2.0 or later; this is a separate version statement from Samsung Account family controls.

If the child is 18 or older
Samsung’s US guidance says a child becomes eligible to opt out of supervision at 18 and that Google sends instructions shortly after the birthday. The child may remain in the family group after opting out. Follow the account prompts and instructions rather than removing Samsung Kids as a substitute.
If the child is under 18
Samsung’s US support page states: “Children that are still under 18 cannot have an unsupervised Google account, so if you wish to remove them from supervision, you will have to delete their account.” Treat this as account deletion, not a routine toggle: deleting the Google account affects the account itself.

- First remove the child’s Google account from devices, as Samsung instructs.
- In the parent’s Family Link app, select the child’s profile.
- Go to Controls > Account settings > Account info > Delete account and follow the prompts.

Manage Samsung Account family controls
Samsung Account family controls are distinct from Family Link, though Samsung’s regional guides describe using Family Link time limits alongside some Samsung child-account controls. Samsung Portugal’s guide gives the path Settings > Samsung Account > Family > child account. It lists controls for web content, age categories for apps and games, and downloads and purchases.

That Portugal guide says Samsung child-account controls require a Galaxy device running One UI 6.1 or later. It is a regional availability statement, not a universal minimum for every Samsung parental-control feature. Menu names and availability can vary by region, device, and software version. When the menu or recovery option is missing
- You are in Samsung Kids but cannot find its controls: make sure you are on the Samsung Kids Home screen, then open More options. The PIN is required for exit and settings access.
- The PIN is forgotten: use Samsung’s documented recovery process from the registered email address, where available; do not use bypass utilities.
- The restriction persists after closing Samsung Kids: check whether Family Link or Samsung Account family controls are also active.
- The Samsung Account family path is absent: check the device’s One UI version and regional support, since Samsung Portugal’s described feature requires One UI 6.1 or later.
- You are considering deleting a child’s Google account: stop and confirm that account deletion is intended; it is not equivalent to turning off a device setting.
