For the biggest privacy improvement, open Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief > Content to include and disable categories that reveal sensitive context, such as health and wellness, travel, events and tasks, Wallet, Smart home, and news. Then turn off Get richer Insights partner-app access, review Manage personal data, and disable Expand Now brief without unlocking.
To remove Now brief from the lock screen, go to Settings > Lock screen and AOD (or Lock screen) > Now bar > Now brief and switch it off. For battery, disable Audio brief if you do not use spoken summaries and remove unused widgets or Edge-panel shortcuts. Samsung does not publish a measured battery saving or a guaranteed percentage, so treat these as sensible reductions in personalization activity and access points rather than a quantified battery fix.
Settings to change first
Now brief creates cards from information Samsung says can include your selected interests and usage patterns. Depending on your phone and region, supported sources include schedules, reminders, health, weather, travel, news, music, SmartThings, Wallet and other apps. The safest approach is to allow only the categories you are comfortable having summarized.

What Now brief can reveal
A briefing card can expose more than a generic notification. A travel card may disclose an upcoming destination, an events-and-tasks card can show appointments or deadlines, and a Wallet or Smart home card can reveal financial, household or location-related context. Health and wellness cards can expose routines or measurements. News, music and weather may be less sensitive for you, but they still describe habits and interests.

Samsung’s US guidance lists Health and wellness, Travel, Events and tasks, Phone settings, news and Smart home as selectable examples. A Korean service guide also shows schedules, health, weather, music, travel, SmartThings and Wallet. Your list can differ because availability depends on the device, software, language, country and installed apps.
Turn off sensitive categories in Content to include
Use the Galaxy AI path
- Open Settings.
- Tap Galaxy AI, then Now brief.
- Choose Content to include.
- Switch off every category you do not want summarized. Start with Health and wellness, Travel, Events and tasks, Wallet, Smart home and news if privacy is your priority.
- Leave enabled only the categories whose cards are genuinely useful to you.
This is a selective control, not an all-or-nothing privacy switch. You can keep low-sensitivity cards, such as weather, while excluding health, travel or financial context. If a category is not listed, it may be unavailable on your model or region rather than hidden by another setting.
Disable richer cross-app personalization
Turn off Get richer Insights
- Return to Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief.
- Tap Get richer Insights.
- Review the partner-app switches shown on your phone.
- Turn off each app whose data you do not want used to personalize Now brief.
Samsung describes this area as a way for available partner apps to provide more personalized content. Disabling a switch limits that app’s contribution to richer insights; it does not necessarily remove cards from categories supplied by other enabled sources.

Minimize collected information
Review Manage personal data
- Open Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief.
- Tap Manage personal data.
- Read each collection option, including controls for personal information and interests.
- Disable categories you do not want collected or used, then confirm any prompts.
Samsung’s documentation identifies Manage personal data as the place to adjust collection settings. The exact sub-options can vary by model, software version and region, so follow the labels displayed on your device. Reducing collection may make cards less personalized or less complete.
Keep the full briefing off the lock screen
Disable expansion without unlocking
- Go to Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief.
- Find Expand Now brief without unlocking.
- Switch it off.
With this disabled, a person holding the locked phone cannot expand the full briefing from the lock screen. This is the most direct setting for preventing details from being displayed before authentication. A small lock-screen indicator can still appear unless you also disable the Now bar entry.
Remove Now brief from the Now bar
- Open Settings.
- Tap Lock screen and AOD. On some phones the menu is named Lock screen.
- Choose Now bar, then Now brief.
- Switch Now brief off.
This removes the Now brief surface from the lock screen. It does not automatically erase every Now brief preference or disable a Home-screen widget, so remove those separately if you want no visible entry point.

Reduce activity that can affect battery life
Turn off Audio brief when you do not listen
In Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief, switch off Audio brief if spoken summaries are unnecessary. This prevents audio playback and the processing associated with generating or delivering spoken briefings. Samsung has not published a battery test that converts this change into a percentage.

Remove unused widgets and Edge-panel entries
Now brief can be launched from a Home-screen widget or an Edge panel. Touch and hold the widget and remove it, or edit the Edge panel and delete the Now brief entry. These steps reduce prompts and accidental launches. They are access-point changes, not proof of a measurable battery saving, and they do not alter the data categories you selected.
Control notifications separately
Notification timing and content can vary with your preferences and usage patterns. If you do not want briefing alerts, open the phone’s notification settings, locate Now brief, and disable the notification types you do not need. Keep in mind that notification controls affect alerts; they do not by themselves stop Now brief from generating cards or collecting permitted data.

How much battery will turning Now brief off save?
There is no reliable number to quote. Samsung’s official pages reviewed for this feature do not publish a laboratory test, a percentage improvement or a named study measuring Now brief’s battery use. Therefore, disabling categories, richer insights, audio and launch surfaces should be described as reducing background personalization, playback and prompts—not as guaranteeing a specific increase in screen-on time.
Battery impact will depend on how many sources are enabled, how often cards refresh, whether audio is used, notification behavior, network conditions and the rest of your phone’s workload. If battery life is your only concern, change one setting at a time and watch your phone’s own battery-usage screen over several normal days. Treat that observation as device-specific, not a universal Now brief measurement.

Maximum privacy
- Turn off all sensitive categories in Content to include.
- Disable every unnecessary switch under Get richer Insights.
- Minimize personal-information and interest collection in Manage personal data.
- Turn off Expand Now brief without unlocking.
- Disable Now bar > Now brief, remove the widget and remove the Edge-panel entry.
- Turn off Audio brief.
Balanced privacy and convenience
- Keep only low-sensitivity categories, such as weather, if useful.
- Allow richer insights only for apps whose personalization you understand and want.
- Leave the lock-screen Now bar disabled but keep a Home-screen widget for deliberate access.
- Keep audio off unless listening is part of your routine.
Battery-focused setup
- Disable Audio brief.
- Reduce the number of included categories and partner-app switches.
- Remove widgets or Edge-panel entries you never use.
- Turn off unnecessary notifications.
This configuration can reduce activity, but Samsung provides no quantified saving. Check your own battery statistics before and after the change if you want to know whether it matters on your device.

Turn Now brief off as completely as your phone allows
- In Settings > Galaxy AI > Now brief, disable every item under Content to include.
- Turn off Get richer Insights switches and minimize Manage personal data.
- Disable Audio brief.
- Turn off Expand Now brief without unlocking.
- Go to Settings > Lock screen and AOD (or Lock screen) > Now bar > Now brief and switch it off.
- Remove any Now brief Home-screen widget and Edge-panel shortcut.
- Disable Now brief notifications in the phone’s notification settings if alerts remain.
Some phones do not offer a single master switch. Using all of the controls above removes the supported content sources and visible entry points, while preserving the distinction between data collection, lock-screen display, notifications and shortcuts.
Why Now brief may be missing
Samsung says Now brief availability varies by country, language, device model and supported apps. A Samsung Account is required according to Samsung’s UK guide, and some functions require a network connection. Menu names and screen layouts can also change with the device, One UI version or app version.
- Install available system and Samsung app updates.
- Confirm that the phone is signed in to a Samsung Account.
- Search Settings for Now brief, Now bar or Galaxy AI if the menu path differs.
- Check both Lock screen and Lock screen and AOD; the wording is not identical on every model.
- Verify that your country, language and device support the feature.
If the Galaxy AI menu still does not show Now brief, the feature may not be supported on that particular Galaxy device or regional software build. Do not assume that installing a widget or changing a lock-screen setting can enable an unsupported feature.

Samsung describes Now brief as customizable: “You can customize the Now brief, so you only see the information that is important to you.” The practical privacy strategy is therefore selective configuration rather than assuming every user needs the same switch combination.
