Samsung DeX works only on selected Galaxy devices. In Samsung’s regional compatibility information, supported phones include many Galaxy S and Note models, selected Fold devices, Z Flip7, and the Galaxy A90 5G. Wired HDMI and wireless DeX do not always have the same model list, and Samsung’s regional pages differ. Check your exact model, variant and country support page before buying a cable, monitor or TV accessory.
Which models are compatible with Samsung DeX?
Samsung’s own support wording is unambiguous: “Samsung DeX is only supported on selected Samsung Galaxy devices.” A Galaxy logo, an S-series name or a USB-C port does not by itself guarantee DeX.
Samsung Canada’s list covers Galaxy S8 through S25 families, Note8 through Note20, the original Galaxy Fold, Z Fold2 through Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Galaxy A90 5G. Samsung Colombia’s page, updated July 29, 2026 for products bought in Colombia, adds S26 and newer foldable names. Because those pages are regional and connection-specific, treat the tables below as a guide rather than a universal SKU guarantee.

| Samsung Colombia wired HDMI/DeX Station or Pad list | Galaxy S8 through S26 series |
| Samsung Colombia wireless list | Galaxy S9 through S26 series |
The Colombia list therefore shows an important distinction: S8 is listed for wired use but the wireless list starts at S9. A particular regional variant can still differ, so verify the model number shown in Settings before relying on a family-level entry.

That difference does not mean every Note model has identical capabilities in every country. It means Samsung’s published connection lists are not interchangeable.
Galaxy Fold and Z series
Samsung Canada lists the original Galaxy Fold, Z Fold2, Z Fold3, Z Fold4, Z Fold5, Z Fold6 and Z Fold7, plus Z Flip7. It explicitly says the Z Flip7 FE does not support HDMI or wireless DeX to a TV or monitor.
Samsung Colombia’s July 29, 2026 page lists additional newer names, including Z TriFold and Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 variants. Those entries apply to the Colombian market information on that page; do not assume that the same generation or a carrier-specific edition is supported worldwide.

The Galaxy A family is not generally a DeX family. Both regional pages identify the Galaxy A90 5G as supported. Samsung’s US comparison information says Galaxy A17 5G, A27 5G, A37 5G and A57 5G do not support DeX. Do not infer support for an A-series phone simply because it has USB-C, a high refresh-rate display or a recent release date.

Wired and wireless DeX use different compatibility rules
Before choosing an accessory, decide whether you want a cable connection to an HDMI display or a wireless desktop on a TV or monitor. A phone can appear on one list and not the other.
Wired DeX to a monitor or TV
Wired DeX requires three things: a supported phone, a compatible cable or adapter and a display with an available HDMI input. The phone’s USB-C port carries the connection; the other end of the cable goes to the display’s HDMI input. Samsung’s setup guidance describes using a compatible DeX cable or HDMI cable, depending on the adapter arrangement.
A USB-C-to-HDMI cable is an optional purchase for a phone that is already DeX-compatible. The cable cannot add DeX to an unsupported model. A generic cable may also fail if it lacks the required video capability or if the display does not accept the resulting signal, so check the cable specifications and the display manual.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWireless DeX to a TV or monitor
Wireless DeX requires a phone listed for wireless DeX and a receiving display that supports Miracast. Samsung describes compatible Samsung TVs from 2018 onward and Smart TVs with Miracast support. The display’s model, firmware and region can affect what is available.

Wireless performance depends on Wi-Fi conditions and the display’s specifications. Keep the phone close to the TV or monitor and place both devices on the same network when possible. These steps can reduce lag, but they cannot overcome a display that lacks Miracast or a phone that is not on the wireless compatibility list.
Keyboard and mouse options
DeX can be used without separate input devices, but a keyboard and mouse make the interface more desktop-like. Samsung’s phone directions support Bluetooth peripherals or wired devices connected through a multiport adapter. A wired setup may use the adapter’s USB ports while the phone remains connected to HDMI.
How to connect a supported phone by cable
- Confirm the exact model. Open Settings and note the full model name and model number. Compare it with Samsung’s support page for your country, checking the wired or HDMI section rather than only the product family.
- Prepare the display. Turn on the HDMI monitor or TV and select the HDMI input you intend to use.
- Connect the phone. Plug the compatible DeX cable or USB-C-to-HDMI arrangement into the phone’s USB-C port, then connect the HDMI end to the display.
- Accept the DeX prompt. If the phone asks whether to start DeX, choose the DeX option. Some displays show the prompt only after the correct input is selected.
- Add peripherals if needed. Pair Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, or connect wired peripherals through a powered multiport adapter.
- Adjust the display. If the picture is distorted, cropped or unusually small, try another supported resolution or display setting. Samsung notes that some combinations of resolution and display settings can produce an undersized or distorted image.
How to start wireless DeX
- Check Miracast first. Confirm in the TV or monitor documentation that wireless display reception uses Miracast. A TV that supports ordinary casting does not automatically support Miracast DeX.
- Put devices on a suitable network. Connect the phone and display to the same Wi-Fi network when the display requires it, and keep the phone near the receiver.
- Open the phone’s quick settings. Look for the DeX or wireless display control, then choose the available TV or monitor.
- Approve the connection on the display. Follow any on-screen permission prompt. If several receivers are nearby, select the exact display name.
- Test input and latency. Move a window, open an app and type a short message. If movement is delayed, reduce distance and network congestion before assuming the phone is incompatible.
Samsung warns that wireless performance varies with Wi-Fi conditions and display specifications. Wireless DeX is therefore convenient for occasional use, while a cable is usually the more predictable choice for sustained work.
DeX for PC is not the same as phone-to-screen DeX
Connecting a supported phone directly to a TV or monitor is different from running the DeX for PC companion app. Samsung says DeX for PC is not supported on the Galaxy S25 series or other models updated to One UI 7 or later, and directs users toward Link to Windows instead.

That restriction does not automatically mean the phone cannot run DeX on an external TV or monitor. Check the phone’s direct wired and wireless display support separately. Conversely, a phone that can connect to a monitor may still be unable to use the DeX for PC application.
Regional lists and model variants: how to verify before buying
Samsung’s Canada and Colombia pages do not contain identical generations or connection categories. The Colombia page is newer, but it specifically describes products bought in Colombia. Canada’s page has a somewhat older generation list. Other countries may publish a different page or a different list.
- Use Samsung’s support site for the country where the phone was purchased or will be used.
- Search for the complete model number, not only “Galaxy S24” or “Z Fold.” Storage, carrier and regional variants can have different support information.
- Check both wired HDMI and wireless DeX entries if you want both options.
- Confirm whether your planned setup is a TV/monitor connection or DeX for PC.
- Verify the display’s HDMI, Miracast and resolution requirements before ordering accessories.
This check is especially important for newly released generations. A regional page can add a phone before another market’s page has been updated, while an otherwise similar edition may appear under a different model name.

What to do when DeX does not appear
The external screen stays blank
- Recheck the exact phone model against the wired compatibility list. A cable cannot compensate for missing DeX support.
- Reseat both ends of the cable and inspect the connectors for damage.
- Select the HDMI input that the cable actually uses.
- Try a known-compatible cable or adapter and, if available, another HDMI display.
- Check whether the display accepts the resolution selected by the phone. An unsupported mode can result in no picture, distortion or a very small image.
Wireless DeX cannot find the TV
- Confirm that the receiving TV or monitor supports Miracast.
- Make sure the phone is on the wireless DeX list for your market; wired support does not prove wireless support.
- Move the phone closer to the display and place both devices on the same network where required.
- Close other high-bandwidth activity on the network and restart both devices.
- Check the display’s wireless projection setting and approve the connection prompt.
The picture is distorted or too small
Samsung notes that some display resolutions or settings can create a distorted or undersized picture. Change the display input mode or resolution to a supported option, then reconnect. If the problem occurs only wirelessly, test a wired connection to distinguish a display-setting issue from Wi-Fi performance.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Phones versus tablets
This guide focuses on phones, but Samsung’s tablet lists also vary by connection. Samsung Canada says Tab S9 FE, Tab S10 Lite, Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 FE lack HDMI output. Samsung Colombia’s connection-specific information identifies Tab S9 FE and Tab S10 FE limitations. Do not transfer a phone compatibility result to a tablet with a similar name.
A practical buying checklist
Before purchasing a cable, monitor or wireless receiver, write down the intended setup and check each item:
| Question | What must be true |
|---|---|
| Exact phone | The full model and regional variant appear on Samsung’s local DeX list. |
| Wired display | The phone is listed for wired DeX, the cable or adapter supports video, and the monitor or TV has compatible HDMI input. |
| Wireless display | The phone is listed for wireless DeX and the receiver supports Miracast. |
| Input devices | Bluetooth support or a multiport adapter is available for keyboard and mouse. |
| Computer use | You have confirmed DeX for PC support separately from direct-to-display DeX. |
The most common costly mistake is buying an adapter first and checking compatibility afterward. Verify the phone and connection type before spending money; a compatible cable is an accessory, not an upgrade that unlocks DeX.

The Bottom Line
DeX support depends on the exact Galaxy model, regional variant and connection method. Confirm your local Samsung list for wired HDMI or wireless Miracast before buying accessories, and treat DeX for PC as a separate compatibility question.
