Change three groups of settings first: activate automatic mop removal for vacuum-only carpet runs, turn on Pet Supply Deep Cleaning for targeted suction around bowls and other supplies, and schedule Do Not Disturb (DND) for your household’s quiet hours. These controls solve different problems, so do not treat them as one universal profile. App names and menu locations can change with software updates; use the current Roborock app’s equivalent feature when the wording differs.
Quick settings map
The Saros 10R’s useful controls are aimed at specific situations rather than a single “pet” or “night” mode. This is the practical distinction to keep in mind:
| Household problem | Setting to look for | What it changes | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rugs or carpet could be mopped | Automatic mop removal | Detaches the mop mounts before vacuum-only tasks and carpet cleaning when the feature is enabled. | The robot cannot mop that surface during the run because the mop mounts are removed. |
| Around food bowls, litter accessories, or other pet supplies | Pet Supply Deep Cleaning | Boosts suction around the identified pet-supply area. | The boost is targeted; it is not a whole-home suction increase. |
| Cleaning during sleeping or work hours | DND schedule | Reduces disturbance and controls dock actions, lights, and voice behavior during the defined window. | Some emptying, drying, or charging actions may be delayed or adjusted. |
Roborock’s official Saros 10R product page and the Saros 10R manual describe these functions. They do not establish identical results for every rug construction, pet-hair type, floor plan, or room acoustics.
How to stop the Saros 10R from mopping rugs
1. Enable automatic mop removal
For a vacuum-only run that includes carpet, activate the app’s automatic mop removal feature. Roborock says this option must be activated; it is not safe to assume that the robot will use it simply because a carpet appears on the map.

During recharging, the main and side brushes are raised to avoid dirt transfer onto the floor, delivering a quiet and pristine mopping experience.
- Open the Roborock app and select your Saros 10R.
- Open the cleaning or carpet-related settings area and look for Automatic Mop Removal, or the current label describing automatic removal of the mop mounts.
- Turn the feature on and save the setting.
- Start a vacuum-only task or a carpet-cleaning task, then check the first run while you are present.
The exact path and wording can move between app versions. If you cannot find the label, use the app’s search, device-help text, or the corresponding carpet and mop-removal control rather than relying on an old screenshot.
2. Understand what the robot does on carpet
The manual describes the Saros 10R retracting its mop-cloth mounts when it cleans carpet. That mechanical behavior is separate from the app switch: the switch tells the robot that automatic removal is permitted for the relevant task. If a rug must never be entered, do not depend only on mount retraction. Draw the rug as a no-go zone in the map editor.
- Open the saved map for the floor containing the rug.
- Choose the map-editing control and add a rectangular or custom no-go zone over the rug.
- Save the map and run a short route around the boundary.
A no-go zone protects the rug by keeping the robot out, but it also means that area will not be vacuumed or mopped in that task. Use it for delicate, unstable, or unusually high-pile rugs where you prefer exclusion to automated handling.
3. Choose between cleaning the rug and protecting it
Use automatic mop removal when the rug is suitable for vacuuming and you want the Saros 10R to clean it. Use a no-go zone when avoiding contact matters more than coverage. The reviewed US manual does not provide a comparative performance table for different pile heights, fringe designs, backing materials, or rug constructions, so do not assume one setting behaves identically on every textile.

4. If carpet behavior looks wrong
When the robot fails to recognize carpet or handles a mapped carpet unexpectedly, inspect the carpet sensor. Roborock’s troubleshooting guidance directs owners to check and clean that sensor and to verify that the relevant app feature is enabled. Turn the robot off as directed in the manual, remove visible dust from the sensor area with a suitable soft, dry method, and retry a small carpeted area. Do not add liquids or household cleaners to the sensor.
If the issue continues, recheck the map, the selected cleaning mode, and the automatic-removal setting before changing boundaries. A sensor check cannot prove that every rug type is supported; it only addresses one common cause of incorrect carpet detection.
How to set up the Saros 10R for pets
1. Turn on Pet Supply Deep Cleaning for targeted suction
Enable Pet Supply Deep Cleaning when you want stronger cleaning around pet supplies such as feeding stations or litter-related accessories. Roborock scopes this suction boost to the supply area. It does not say that the setting raises suction throughout the home.
- Open the Roborock app and select the Saros 10R map.
- Open the pet, obstacle, or advanced cleaning controls and look for Pet Supply Deep Cleaning, or the equivalent current label.
- Enable it and identify or confirm the pet-supply locations if the app asks you to mark them.
- Run the robot first when you can observe the approach to bowls, mats, and nearby furniture.
Because labels can change, look for the feature by its purpose if the exact phrase is different. Keep the supply locations accurate after moving bowls or mats; a targeted boost is only useful where the app believes the supplies are.

- INCREDIBLE SUCTION AND SONIC MOPPING: First, it’s an ultra-powerful whole home vacuum on carpets and floors. Second, it’s an ultra-powerful vacuum that sonic mops hard floors at the same time.
- NO SPOTS MISSED: With Matrix Clean, the vacuum cleans in a precise matrix grid taking multiple passes over dirt and debris for whole home, deep cleaning coverage.

- SELF-CLEANING BRUSHROLL: Digs deep into carpets and directly engages hardwood floors pulling up debris, hair, and dirt from all surfaces in your home – engineered to pick up more hair and is anti-hair wrap.
2. Keep pet recognition separate from deep cleaning
The product page describes another behavior: when pet recognition detects a pet nearby, the robot can stop its main brush and move aside as it approaches. That is an avoidance response, not the same function as Pet Supply Deep Cleaning. Turning on one does not establish that the other is enabled or that either will identify every animal in every lighting and furniture arrangement.
Give pets a quiet introduction to the robot. Keep bowls, toys, cords, and loose fabric arranged consistently during the first supervised runs, and pause cleaning if an animal becomes distressed. Pet recognition may reduce an encounter with a moving animal, but the cited materials do not guarantee avoidance of pet waste, spills, or every type of fur.
3. Build a pet-area routine
- Mark stable supply locations on the map and update them after rearranging the room.
- Use Pet Supply Deep Cleaning for the pet zone rather than expecting a whole-home turbo mode.
- Schedule ordinary vacuuming when pets are elsewhere if they react to noise or movement.
- Inspect the brush, wheels, and dock area more often when fur, litter, or food particles are present.
These are operating choices, not guarantees of a particular pickup rate. The official materials reviewed do not compare performance across long fur, short fur, litter grains, wet food, or pet-waste incidents.

1. Schedule DND around your household
Use the app’s Do Not Disturb (DND) schedule to define when the robot should minimize disturbance. The Saros 10R manual lists a default window of 22:00 to 08:00. Owners can modify that window or disable DND.

- Open the device settings for the Saros 10R.
- Find DND, Do Not Disturb, or the current equivalent under schedule or automation settings.
- Set the start and end times to match the actual quiet period in your home, not just the default.
- Save the schedule and check that the app shows it as active for the correct days or recurrence.
DND is a schedule, not a promise that the robot will be silent in every mode. A vacuum run, wheel movement, or an unexpected dock event can still produce sound outside the controls that DND manages.
2. Decide which dock actions should be restricted
The manual lists configurable DND behavior for several dock functions. Depending on the app version, you can control whether DND affects:
- Automatic top-up: whether charging behavior is reduced or deferred during the quiet window.
- Emptying: whether the dock avoids an automatic dustbin-emptying cycle at night.
- Drying: whether mop drying is delayed or adjusted.
- Indicator lights: whether lights are dimmed.
- Voice messages: whether spoken volume is lowered.
Review each option instead of assuming one master switch handles every action. Preventing emptying or drying during quiet hours can reduce noise, but it may leave a full dustbin or damp mop system until the next permitted period. Choose the combination that fits your sanitation and charging needs.

Roborock states: “Based on internal testing carried out by the manufacturer, the noise level in quiet mop-only mode is as low as 55dB in a semi-anechoic chamber.” This is a manufacturer measurement for quiet mop-only mode in a controlled semi-anechoic chamber, not a general Saros 10R vacuum-noise rating. Roborock also notes that actual noise can vary with environmental factors. Floor type, room reflections, furniture, distance, and dock activity can all change what people hear in a home.

Do not use the 55 dB statement to promise that vacuum cleaning will be equally quiet, or that a bedroom will experience that exact level. For nighttime use, schedule DND, select a mop-only task when that meets your cleaning need, and observe the first cycle in the intended room.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Combining the settings for common situations
| Situation | Recommended controls | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed hard floors and washable rugs | Automatic mop removal on; no-go zones only for rugs that should never be entered. | Watch the first carpet transition and confirm the mounts retract as expected. |
| Pet feeding station near a rug | Pet Supply Deep Cleaning on; automatic mop removal on; map a no-go zone only if the rug must be excluded. | Make sure the supply marker and rug boundary do not conflict. |
| Nighttime mopping in a living area | DND scheduled; quiet mop-only mode where available; review drying and emptying behavior. | Confirm that deferred dock actions happen at a suitable daytime time. |
| Pet area beside bedrooms | Pet Supply Deep Cleaning on; DND set to the household’s sleep window. | Check whether targeted cleaning or dock activity is still audible through walls. |
There is no evidence for one best combination in every home. Rug protection, targeted pet-area suction, and quiet operation involve different compromises, so adjust one control at a time and observe the result.
Maintenance settings and cleaning-solution caution
The Saros 10R manual describes a solution cartridge and says cleaning solution is not included. If you use the cartridge, use only Roborock-recommended solution for it. The manual specifically says not to use disinfectant. Do not pour a household disinfectant or another unapproved chemical into the cartridge to compensate for pet messes or nighttime cleaning.
Keep mop-wash and drying controls aligned with your DND schedule. A quieter night schedule is not useful if drying is postponed so long that the mop remains damp for an extended period. Conversely, allowing drying during sleeping hours may defeat the purpose of DND. The right choice depends on when your home can tolerate dock noise and when the mop can be safely dried.
Troubleshooting checklist
- The robot mops a rug: confirm automatic mop removal is enabled for the current task; if the rug must be avoided, add or correct its no-go zone.
- Carpet is not recognized: inspect and clean the carpet sensor according to the troubleshooting manual, then check the app’s carpet and mop-removal settings.
- Pet supplies are not receiving extra cleaning: verify that Pet Supply Deep Cleaning is enabled and that the mapped supply location has not moved.
- The robot approaches a pet: remember that pet recognition is a separate behavior; supervise animals and do not treat it as guaranteed waste avoidance.
- The dock makes noise at night: review DND options for emptying, drying, top-up, lights, and voice volume rather than changing only the schedule times.
- Night cleaning is still audible: check whether the task is vacuuming instead of quiet mop-only cleaning and account for room acoustics; the 55 dB figure is not a whole-home vacuum specification.
For feature-specific checks, consult the Saros 10R troubleshooting manual and the current in-app help text. App labels may shift, but the underlying decisions remain the same: remove or exclude rugs, boost suction only where pet supplies are located, and schedule dock behavior around the hours your household actually needs to be quiet.
