The best queen mattress depends on how you sleep and what matters most: cooling, pressure relief, motion isolation, edge space, or a springier feel. RTINGS’ 2026 guide selects five options across those priorities, but its rankings are not a promise that any one mattress will feel right for every sleeper. Here’s how to choose among them.
How these queen mattress picks were selected
RTINGS’ guide, updated August 25, 2026, names five queen-size mattresses after testing more than 65 queen mattresses. RTINGS says it independently buys mattresses, applies common tests, and examines products’ components. The judgments below are RTINGS’ assessments, not a new hands-on evaluation by iTechGuides. Its list spans all-foam and hybrid designs, with different strengths in cooling, motion control, responsiveness, and edge support.
Comfort is personal. Consumer Reports advises shoppers to consider sleep position and body type, rather than relying on mattress-company claims alone. Use the descriptions to narrow your choices, then check trial and return conditions that apply where you live before ordering.

Silk & Snow Mattress: look for pressure relief and low motion transfer
This medium-plush, low-bounce foam mattress is RTINGS’ budget pick. Its pressure relief and motion isolation may appeal to side and combination sleepers, but that is not a guarantee of adequate support for every body type. Its edge support is a weakness, so factor in how much you use the perimeter of the bed.

Lighter side sleepers may find it too firm; couples should also weigh its weaker motion control against its lower price positioning, and consider RTINGS’ durability concern.
What matters most when comparing queen mattresses?
Sleep position, body type, and pressure relief
A firmness label is a useful starting point, not a universal comfort rating. A medium mattress can still feel different depending on its materials, how deeply you sink, and how much support you need in your usual sleep position. Think about whether your shoulders and hips need pressure relief, and whether the mattress keeps you comfortable in your preferred position. A pick described as suitable for some side sleepers should not be treated as a fit for every side sleeper.
Motion isolation is not the same as edge support
Motion isolation concerns how much movement travels across the mattress when a partner shifts. Edge support concerns stability and usable space near the perimeter. Both can matter to couples sharing a queen, but they solve different problems: strong motion control does not automatically mean you can comfortably use the full width of the bed. Compare each trait separately against how you and your partner use the mattress.

Cooling, responsiveness, and construction
Foam and hybrid construction can help explain why two mattresses with similar firmness descriptions feel different. Memory foam often feels more conforming, while a springier hybrid can feel more responsive and less sinking. RTINGS reports cooling and motion results separately from firmness; check those qualities individually rather than assuming a firmness rating predicts them.
Durability and the terms of purchase
RTINGS raises durability or longevity concerns for the Casper Snow, Tuft & Needle Mint, and Allswell Hybrid. Those are source-specific assessments, not a guarantee that a particular mattress will fail or last for a set number of years. Before buying, verify the current trial, return, and warranty terms for the exact model and seller; terms were not consistently established for all five options.

Foundation compatibility varies by mattress. Consumer Reports says manufacturers specify whether a model can be used on a platform, slatted base, adjustable base, or box spring, and may set requirements such as maximum spacing between slats. Check the exact mattress maker’s setup instructions and follow them; an incompatible or unsupported foundation may affect warranty coverage.
