For European shoppers, idealo is a broad starting point in the countries it serves, while Geizhals is worth trying when detailed product filters matter. No single comparison site is established as best across Europe: store coverage and features vary by market, and results may omit sellers. For an important purchase, check at least two services, then confirm the exact product and delivered total with the retailer.
Five price comparison sites to consider
This is a practical shortlist, not a controlled ranking. The available evidence does not establish an independent number-one service or a measured savings advantage. Compare services by whether they cover your country and product, match the precise model, show delivery and seller details, and help you assess price changes and purchase terms.

Start with coverage, then judge whether the offers are genuinely comparable and useful for your destination. A site that lists many products is not helpful if it misses your preferred shops or matches a different model.

- Country and store coverage: Select the relevant national market and see whether familiar retailers appear. A comparison site may not list every seller.
- Category and exact product: Match the model number, configuration, size or other variant, and condition. Similar names can hide different specifications.
- Delivered price: Check shipping, taxes, fees and whether the shop ships to your address. Compare the final checkout amount, not just the product-price headline.
- Price history and alerts: If you are not buying immediately, check whether the service offers history or alerts in your market and category. These features are described for idealo’s UK service and Kelkoo’s UK site; their availability should not be assumed elsewhere.
- Seller and purchase terms: Assess retailer reputation, returns, warranty and after-sales support. On a marketplace, establish whether the actual seller is a professional trader or a private individual, because EU consumer protections differ.
- Ranking and commercial relationships: Check how offers are ordered and whether the comparator explains financial relationships that could affect what is shown.
How to compare offers without being misled by the headline price
- Search the same product on at least two comparison sites. Results can differ because services index different stores and may omit vendors.
- Match the exact model and condition. Confirm the identifier and variant, and compare new, refurbished or used items only with the same condition.
- Open the retailer’s offer. The comparison service is a discovery aid; the retailer sells the product and handles the transaction. Check that the offer is still current.
- Calculate the total for your destination. Include delivery and any other charges shown before checkout. If a cost cannot be calculated in advance, EU guidance says it must be explained upfront.
- Review the seller and terms before paying. Confirm delivery eligibility, return conditions, warranty and customer support on the retailer’s site.

Can a seller charge different prices in different EU countries?
EU anti-discrimination rules do not require identical prices, stock or delivery costs everywhere. The European Commission’s Your Europe consumer guidance says: “As an EU national or resident you can’t be charged a higher price when buying products or services in the EU just because of your nationality or country of residence.” Prices can nevertheless vary by country, including because of delivery costs, and a trader’s delivery options determine whether it will ship to you. Check the destination terms and charges with the seller.

Are price comparison sites reliable?
They are useful for discovering offers, but a listing is not a guarantee that every retailer is included or that a displayed price is still available. The European Consumer Centre advises checking the final price directly with the seller, using several comparison sites, and considering product quality, guarantees and customer service. It also recommends examining how a comparator ranks offers and discloses financial relationships. Its guidance was updated 8 December 2025.

When comparing a retailer’s sites for different countries, verify that the item, destination, delivery terms and final checkout amount match your needs. A lower price shown for another country may not remain lower once delivery is included.
