UGREEN’s USB-C-to-USB-C cable, SKU 80150, is the clearest premium Anker alternative in the available product evidence—but verify the live listing before buying. Its specification section lists up to 240W USB Power Delivery, 10Gbps data and 4K at 60Hz video. The same listing’s title says “140W,” so check that the SKU and specification set still match. Belkin and Cable Matters are credible alternatives only at the individual-model level: their ranges include very different charging, data and display capabilities.
The practical rule is simple: USB-C identifies the plug shape, not the cable’s performance. Choose by the exact cable’s power rating, USB data generation, video support, connector combination, length and warranty—not by brand name alone.
Quick comparison: the three alternatives and Anker’s baseline
The table separates what is explicitly documented from what must be checked on the listing for the exact variant. “Not stated” means the available product evidence does not establish that specification.

| Brand and model | Maximum charging | Advertised data | Video support | Connectors and length | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UGREEN USB-C cable, SKU 80150 | Up to 240W PD in the specification section; product title says 140W | Up to 10Gbps | 4K at 60Hz | USB-C to USB-C; length not stated | Most complete single-model specification, subject to resolving the 140W/240W listing discrepancy |
| Belkin basic BoostCharge model cited by WIRED | 12W maximum for that specific model | 480Mbps | Not stated | Belkin also sells USB-C-to-USB-C, USB-A-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-Lightning versions; exact length is model-specific | Suitable only when the lower power and data limits fit the device; do not generalize these figures to every Belkin cable |
| Cable Matters cable family | Model-specific | Model-specific; examples include higher-speed and charging-focused designs | Model-specific | USB-C charging/data cables plus angled, extension, retractable, coiled and longer active formats | Broad choice of form factors, but the SKU must be selected for the required standard |
| Anker 333 USB-C-to-USB-C (baseline) | Up to 100W | Not stated on the cited page | No video output | Braided, 6 feet | Manufacturer states a 5,000-bend lifespan; the cited EU listing was sold out when accessed |
No independent comparative failure-rate or lifespan study establishes that any of these alternatives is more reliable than Anker. Customer comments and manufacturer bend claims are not cross-brand durability tests.

Why the USB-C logo is not enough
A USB-C connector can carry very different electrical and data standards. Two cables that fit the same laptop may differ dramatically: one may be intended only for charging, another may carry 10Gbps data, and a third may support a display through DisplayPort Alt Mode. A high-wattage cable can still have ordinary USB 2-class data performance, while a fast data cable may not be rated for the power your laptop needs.
Three components must agree for fast charging: the device, the charger and the cable. A 240W-rated cable cannot make a 65W charger deliver 240W, and a laptop that accepts only 100W will not draw more simply because the cable has a higher rating. USB Power Delivery negotiation also depends on the charger and device supporting the same profiles.
Video is similarly conditional. The cable and both connected devices must support the relevant display mode. A USB-C port on a computer may be data-only, charging-only or display-capable; the connector shape does not reveal which one it is. Look for an explicit video or DisplayPort Alt Mode statement for the exact cable and confirm that the source and monitor support it.
1. UGREEN SKU 80150: the strongest single-cable candidate
What is documented
UGREEN’s UK product listing for SKU 80150 identifies a USB-C-to-USB-C cable with up to 240W USB Power Delivery, 10Gbps transmission and 4K-at-60Hz video output in its specification section. That combination makes it potentially useful for a USB-C laptop, fast external storage and a compatible monitor without carrying separate charging and data cables.
There is an important qualification: the product title on the same listing calls the cable a “140W” cable, while the specification section says 240W. Treat those as conflicting listing details, not as interchangeable ratings. Before purchase, open the current listing, confirm SKU 80150, read the technical section and check the package or seller information for the version being shipped. If the live page no longer presents the 240W specification for that SKU, use the lower clearly documented rating for planning purposes.
Who should consider it
- Owners of a USB-C laptop whose charger and computer support high-wattage USB PD.
- People who need one cable for charging, file transfers and a 4K/60Hz display connection.
- Desk users who can confirm the cable’s length is suitable, since the cited listing does not establish a length.
What remains unknown
The available evidence does not establish the cable’s length, USB-IF certification status, warranty period or independent durability results. Customer review text appears on the product page, but those reports are anecdotal and should not be presented as testing. Verify those details in the current regional listing if they matter to your purchase.
2. Belkin: a premium range, not one universal specification
Why model selection matters
Belkin’s range includes USB-C-to-USB-C, USB-A-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-Lightning cables. That variety can be useful when replacing several older cables, but it also means the brand name says little about performance. WIRED’s guide cites a basic BoostCharge model limited to 12W charging and 480Mbps data. Those figures apply to that specific model, not to every cable in the range.

- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The same guide treats certification and a braided finish as separate product details. A cable can have a durable-looking exterior without offering high-speed data or high-power charging, and a certified cable still needs the right connector and length for your setup. Read the model number and specification table rather than selecting the first listing that says “USB-C.”
When a Belkin model makes sense
- For a phone or accessory that needs modest charging and does not move large files, a 12W/480Mbps model may be sufficient.
- For a modern laptop, external SSD or monitor, choose a model whose stated wattage, data generation and display support meet those requirements; do not infer them from the BoostCharge name.
- If you need USB-A on one end or USB-C-to-Lightning, Belkin’s connector range may solve a compatibility problem that a USB-C-to-USB-C cable cannot.
Because the evidence does not identify one universal Belkin SKU for high-power charging and video, the correct recommendation is model-specific: record the exact product number, then verify its power, data and display claims.
3. Cable Matters: the widest range of physical formats
What distinguishes the range
Cable Matters is cited as a dependable brand in WIRED’s guide and as a source of favorable user feedback in comparison coverage. Its portfolio includes conventional USB-C charging/data cables as well as angled, extension, retractable, coiled and longer active designs. Those formats can solve practical routing problems that a standard straight cable cannot.
The trade-off is that performance varies by model. A compact retractable or coiled cable may be convenient for travel, while an active long cable may be designed to preserve signal over greater distances. Neither design should be assumed to provide the same charging wattage, data speed or display support as another product from the same brand.

- Start with the device connection: USB-C-to-USB-C, USB-A-to-USB-C or another required combination.
- Set the minimum charging wattage from the device’s charger. For a laptop, use the charger’s rated output as the starting point.
- Set the minimum data requirement. An external SSD or dock may need a higher USB generation than a keyboard, phone or e-reader.
- If a display is involved, select a listing that explicitly states video or DisplayPort Alt Mode support and check the display resolution and refresh-rate limit.
- Only then choose a physical format and length. An angled plug can reduce strain, while an active long cable may be necessary for a distant monitor.
WIRED’s examples show why this process matters: a model may offer a useful data speed while imposing a charging trade-off, or the reverse. The exact SKU determines the result.
Other names seen in recommendations
Online comparison coverage and forum discussions also mention Baseus, Native Union, Satechi, Spigen and LTT. Those mentions are leads, not a reliability ranking or a validation of every model. The available evidence does not independently test all of these brands or establish that they outperform Anker. If you investigate one, apply the same checklist: exact power rating, USB data generation, explicit video support, connector type, length, certification and warranty.
Match the cable to the job
| Your main use | Minimum information to confirm | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Charging a phone or tablet | Required wattage, USB-PD support if applicable, connector type and practical length | Paying for a high data rate that the device cannot use while overlooking the charger’s output |
| Charging a USB-C laptop | Laptop and charger wattage, cable’s PD rating, USB-C-to-USB-C connectors and a suitable length | Assuming a cable’s maximum rating upgrades an underpowered charger |
| External SSD or fast storage | Advertised USB generation and transfer rate, plus connector compatibility | Using a charging-focused cable whose data rate is much lower than the drive’s interface |
| Monitor or dock | Explicit video/DisplayPort Alt Mode support, resolution and refresh rate, plus charging and data requirements for the dock | Assuming every USB-C cable carries video |
| Travel or bedside use | Length, flexibility, strain relief and connector orientation | Choosing a long active cable when a short passive cable would be simpler, or choosing a short cable that cannot reach safely |
A step-by-step buying method
Step 1: write down the device and charger requirements
Read the charger label or manufacturer specifications and note the highest supported USB-PD output. For a laptop, also note whether the computer has one USB-C port or separate charging and display ports. For a phone, identify whether its fastest mode requires a particular charging protocol.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Step 2: decide whether data matters
If the cable will only charge a device, a basic data rate may be adequate. If it will connect an SSD, dock, camera or phone for transfers, set a specific target such as 5Gbps or 10Gbps based on the device interface. Do not pay for a claimed speed that the connected hardware cannot reach, but do not buy a low-speed charging cable for a high-speed drive.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStep 3: confirm display support before ordering
Look for words such as “video,” “display,” or “DisplayPort Alt Mode” in the cable’s technical specifications. Then confirm that the computer, tablet or phone can output video over USB-C and that the monitor or dock accepts the required signal. If the listing is silent, treat video support as unverified.
Step 4: select the connector arrangement and length
USB-C-to-USB-C is the normal choice for current laptops, chargers and many phones. USB-A-to-USB-C is still useful with older chargers and computers. USB-C-to-Lightning serves devices with that particular port. Choose enough length for the route without creating a loop that can catch or pull on the connector.
Step 5: check the exact model’s construction and terms
Look for braid or other jacket details, reinforced strain relief, stated certification, warranty coverage and return terms. These features can affect everyday durability, but none proves a lower failure rate without comparative testing. Treat a manufacturer’s bend figure as a laboratory-style claim for that product, not as a cross-brand forecast.
Step 6: verify the delivered cable
When it arrives, compare the printed model number and connector markings with the listing. Test charging, data and video separately if you bought the cable for all three jobs. A cable may charge correctly while failing to carry the expected data rate or display signal.
Anker’s 333 cable as a realistic baseline
Anker’s EU listing for its 333 USB-C-to-USB-C cable describes a braided, 6-foot cable supporting up to 100W and a stated 5,000-bend lifespan. The same page explicitly says it does not support video output. At the time the page was accessed, it showed as sold out, illustrating why regional stock and model availability should be checked rather than assumed.
This baseline clarifies what an alternative must actually improve. UGREEN SKU 80150 has a more ambitious listed feature set if the 240W/10Gbps/4K60 specification applies to the current variant. A Belkin BoostCharge model capped at 12W and 480Mbps would be a functional alternative only for a lighter-duty use case, not a like-for-like replacement for every laptop or dock. Cable Matters may offer a closer match, but only after identifying the relevant high-power or high-speed SKU.

Common pitfalls and fixes
“It charges, so it must be fast.”
Charging alone proves only that the electrical connection works. Check the negotiated wattage on the device, charger and operating system where available. If the rate is low, verify the charger output and cable rating before blaming the cable.
“USB-C means 10Gbps.”
It does not. Data speed is a separate specification. If transfers are slow, confirm the cable’s advertised rate, the computer port’s USB generation and the storage device’s interface. The slowest component controls the connection.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →“Every USB-C cable supports a monitor.”
Video support must be stated for the cable and supported by both devices. Replace an unverified charging cable with one whose listing explicitly includes the required display mode and resolution.
“A 240W label guarantees 240W in my setup.”
The cable rating is a ceiling, not a promise. The charger, device, regional power profile and USB-PD negotiation determine the actual rate. A 240W-capable cable is still useful as headroom, but it cannot overcome a lower-rated charger or device.
“A braided jacket proves it will last longer.”
Braid can protect against abrasion, yet connector strain relief, repeated sharp bends and handling also matter. Compare the manufacturer’s stated warranty and testing claims, and avoid turning a single bend-life figure into a universal durability ranking.
Cost, stock and regional details
The supplied product evidence does not establish stable prices for these models, and cable prices and availability can change by country, length and connector variant. Treat any retailer price as a point-in-time offer rather than a permanent characteristic of the brand. Check that the listing ships the same SKU whose specifications you evaluated; marketplaces sometimes group several lengths or generations under one page.
For UGREEN SKU 80150 in particular, resolve the title/specification conflict before paying. For Belkin and Cable Matters, confirm the model number because similar names can hide very different limits. If a listing omits a required field, mark that feature as unverified and choose a model with an explicit specification instead of inferring it.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Bottom line: choose the specification, not the logo
Choose UGREEN SKU 80150 first if the current listing confirms the cited 240W PD, 10Gbps and 4K/60Hz claims and those capabilities match your devices. Choose a Belkin cable when its exact model supplies the connector and performance you need; the cited 12W/480Mbps BoostCharge model is not a universal high-performance option. Choose Cable Matters when a particular SKU offers the required speed, power or specialized length and format.
None of the available evidence proves that these alternatives are more reliable than Anker. The defensible replacement decision is therefore technical: match charging, data, video, connectors, length and support terms to the job, then verify the exact product version and current availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a 240W USB-C cable safely charge a device that needs less power?
Yes, provided the charger and device use compatible USB Power Delivery negotiation. The 240W figure is the cable’s maximum capability; the device draws only the power it requests, and a lower-rated charger or device remains the limiting factor.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
How can I tell whether a USB-C cable will connect my laptop to a monitor?
Look for an explicit video or DisplayPort Alt Mode statement for the exact cable, then confirm that the laptop or tablet can output video over USB-C and that the monitor or dock accepts the required resolution and refresh rate. A USB-C plug alone is not evidence of video support.
Why is my USB-C cable charging normally but transferring files slowly?
Charging and data use different capabilities. Check the cable’s advertised USB generation and speed, the source port’s specification and the storage device’s interface. A charging-focused cable can work electrically while providing much lower data performance.
Is the UGREEN SKU 80150 definitely a 240W cable?
Its cited specification section lists up to 240W PD, but the same product title says 140W. Because those details conflict, verify the current SKU, package and technical section before purchase and do not assume the higher figure without that confirmation.
