A CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR configuration with an Intel Core i5-13400F and GeForce RTX 5060 8GB is a plausible Fortnite-focused option, but it is not a verified current deal or a tested FPS winner. A June 1, 2026 guide listed it at $749; check the exact live listing and total cost before buying. The right choice depends on whether you want competitive 1080p Performance Mode, higher visual settings, or 1440p play.

What prebuilt PC is a candidate under $1,000?

The clearest named candidate in the available product coverage is a CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR with an Intel Core i5-13400F and GeForce RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM. The Tech Search listed that configuration at $749 on June 1, 2026, but that is a historical editorial price—not a confirmed October 2026 offer. Its article does not establish current stock, the exact live listing, seller, shipping cost, warranty, or return terms. See The Tech Search’s dated configuration and price.

Treat it as a starting point for comparison, not a guaranteed best buy. Prebuilt product names can cover multiple configurations, so confirm that a listing actually includes the i5-13400F and RTX 5060 8GB before relying on those specifications. No cited source independently tested Fortnite on this exact system.

What does Fortnite require, and what does that mean for a $1,000 PC?

Epic Games publishes separate minimum, recommended, and Epic-quality PC requirements. Its recommended tier specifies 16GB of RAM and a GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 graphics card with 2GB of VRAM, alongside a Core i5-7300U or Ryzen 3 3300U equivalent. For Epic-quality play, Epic lists an RTX 3070, RX 6700 XT, or equivalent GPU with at least 8GB of VRAM, a Core i7-8700 or Ryzen 7 3700X equivalent, and 16GB of RAM. Epic cautions that a PC that only meets minimum requirements will probably not run the game at the highest settings. Check Epic’s Fortnite PC requirements.

Those tiers do not promise a particular frame rate for every PC that meets them. Requirements also do not replace checking the complete configuration: CPU, graphics card, memory setup, storage, cooling, and the game settings you intend to use all matter.

Choose a PC for your Fortnite settings and display

Start with the resolution, graphics mode, and refresh-rate goal you actually plan to use. A target such as 1080p at 144Hz is not the same workload as 1080p at 240Hz, DX12 at High or Epic settings, or 1440p at 144Hz. These are buying targets, not guaranteed results from a particular desktop. TechGuided’s Fortnite buying guide explains these use cases and notes that performance varies with updates, map, settings, background apps, and match intensity.

1080p Performance Mode

For competitive play at 1080p in Performance Mode, the CPU can become a more prominent constraint. A recent six-core processor is a reasonable baseline in this budget category, but a CPU label alone is not enough to predict performance. Check its exact model and generation alongside the GPU.

High or Epic visuals, or a higher resolution

Higher resolution and demanding visual settings increase the importance of graphics capability and VRAM. The RTX 5060 configuration above has 8GB of VRAM, but that fact alone does not establish an FPS result or guarantee a particular preset at a particular resolution.

Streaming and multitasking

For gaming while streaming or running heavier background workloads, memory capacity and configuration deserve extra attention. TechGuided considers 32GB preferable for heavier streaming and multitasking scenarios; Newegg Insider’s $800–$1,000 category guidance calls for 16GB DDR5. Confirm both the capacity and whether memory is configured in dual channel rather than inferring the arrangement from the total alone. Read Newegg Insider’s 1080p budget-tier guidance.

What to compare in exact listings

Newegg Insider describes $800–$1,000 as a 1080p everyday-gaming tier and recommends looking for an RTX 5060 or RTX 5060 Ti, a mainstream CPU, 16GB DDR5, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. That is category guidance, not confirmation that a particular listing has those parts or sells for that amount. Compare complete listings rather than brand names or broad CPU labels.

What to check Why it matters
GPU model and VRAM They help you judge graphics capability for the resolution and settings you want. Verify both on the exact product listing.
CPU model and generation Performance Mode at 1080p can place more emphasis on the CPU. Look for the actual model, not just “Core i7” or “Ryzen 7.”
RAM capacity and configuration Use 16GB DDR5 as a category-guide baseline, then check whether the listing confirms dual-channel memory. Consider 32GB for heavier streaming and multitasking.
SSD capacity Newegg’s guidance calls for a 1TB NVMe SSD. Verify the installed drive and whether expansion is available.
Cooling, power supply, motherboard, and upgrades Airflow, PSU wattage, motherboard limits, and upgrade constraints affect the system beyond its headline CPU and GPU. Confirm these details rather than assuming they are standard across a product line.
Total live price and support terms Check the current price including shipping, the seller, warranty, and return policy. A listing only qualifies for an under-$1,000 shortlist if its verified total is below the limit.
Resolution, renderer, settings, and refresh-rate goal These define the Fortnite workload the PC needs to serve; a high-refresh target is not a performance guarantee.

Rig&Play’s prebuilt buying guide also emphasizes checking airflow, PSU, motherboard, and upgrade constraints. Treat those as listing-level checks, not verified traits of every model in a brand family.

Can a $1,000 gaming PC run Fortnite at 144 FPS?

The available sources do not establish that result for the named CyberPowerPC configuration—or for every PC under $1,000. They provide configuration guidance, not a model-specific test with a disclosed resolution, renderer, graphics preset, and match scenario. Frame rates can also vary with updates, map, settings, background applications, and match intensity. Do not treat a price, GPU label, or requirements tier as proof of a sustained 144 FPS.

When a seller or reviewer does publish an FPS figure, check whether it applies to the exact CPU and GPU configuration and includes the resolution, Fortnite mode or renderer, graphics settings, and test conditions relevant to your target.

How to decide before buying

  1. Set your play target. Decide on resolution, Performance Mode or visual settings, and a refresh-rate goal before comparing desktops.
  2. Verify the exact configuration. Confirm CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM capacity and configuration, and SSD size on the product page.
  3. Check the rest of the system. Look for cooling and airflow information, PSU wattage, motherboard and upgrade limits, and storage expansion.
  4. Confirm the full current cost. Check live availability, seller, shipping, warranty, and returns, then verify the total stays below $1,000.
  5. Demand relevant performance evidence. If FPS is central to your decision, look for testing of the exact configuration under settings close to your intended play.
