Do not confuse this touchscreen Gen 2 model with the non-touch ThinkVision M14. The cited comparison lists no HDMI or other non-USB-C video input for the M14t Gen 2, so confirm the laptop’s USB-C video capability before buying. Prices vary by source and date: TechRepublic lists $297, while TechRadar describes roughly $400 / £400 new. Neither figure establishes a current US retail price.
MSI PRO MP165 E6: inexpensive second-screen productivity
The MP165 E6 is a straightforward 15.6-inch, 1080p IPS screen for documents, email, dashboards, and reference windows. It includes an HDMI input as well as two USB-C ports, plus a kickstand, protective pouch, and tripod/VESA mounting options. ViewSonic VX1655-4K-OLED: high pixel density and contrast

These are review figures from different outlets, not specifications guaranteed for every unit, setting, or color mode. Broad gamut coverage is useful, but color-critical work also calls for verified accuracy and a suitable calibration workflow.
Check laptop compatibility before you buy
A USB-C connector’s shape does not prove that it carries video. The laptop port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode or another compatible video path, and the monitor must accept that signal over the same connection. Also check whether the laptop can provide enough power for the monitor; requirements can vary by device and operating conditions.

- Look up the laptop’s exact model and confirm which USB-C port supports video output. A port described only as USB-C may support data and charging but not display output.
- Match the monitor’s input to the laptop’s video output. The Dell P1425 and Lenovo M14t Gen 2, for example, have no HDMI input in the cited comparison.
- Check the maximum resolution and refresh rate for the particular input and cable. The Z3FC’s reported HDMI and USB-C refresh limits differ.
- Check power requirements and whether the laptop can supply sufficient power over USB-C. If the setup needs a separate power source, include that charger and cable in your travel plan.
- If using HDMI, confirm that both devices support the desired display mode and use a cable or adapter that supports it. An HDMI adapter cannot add video capability to a laptop port that does not provide a compatible video signal.
Choose screen size, resolution, and finish for the setting
Balance workspace against the packed kit
A larger panel can make side-by-side windows easier to use, but the screen’s weight is only part of what you carry. Compare the monitor with its stand, cover, cables, and any separate charger. A built-in kickstand or cover that doubles as a stand can reduce the extra gear; the Dell’s listed weight explicitly includes its stand, while the other listed weights do not specify whether accessories are included.
Match resolution and panel type to the task
- 1080p IPS: often sufficient for documents and reference windows on a compact screen. The MSI PRO MP165 E6 is the 1080p option in this shortlist.
- QHD: provides more workspace detail than 1080p; the Arzopa Z3FC and Lenovo M14t Gen 2 use higher-than-Full-HD resolutions, with different aspect ratios and features.
- 4K OLED: prioritizes pixel density and image contrast, as in the ViewSonic, but entails a higher reported price and does not by itself establish color accuracy.
For color-critical work, look for measured coverage and accuracy rather than relying on resolution or a broad color-gamut claim alone. Decide whether touch, refresh rate, or extra inputs matter most
Touch and pen support can make annotation, signing, and direct interaction more convenient, but they are not useful to everyone and do not replace checking app and operating-system compatibility. The Lenovo is the touch-and-stylus choice among the five primary picks. If fast motion is a priority, compare refresh rates and the specific input used; the 60 Hz Lenovo, Dell, MSI, and ViewSonic are less suited to fast gaming than the Z3FC’s higher-refresh option.

HDMI can be valuable when a laptop lacks USB-C video output, but only if the monitor has an HDMI input and both devices support the mode you need. The MSI and ViewSonic include HDMI-family inputs; the Dell and Lenovo do not. Carrying an adapter is useful only when it connects compatible video paths.
Other features to consider if the five picks do not fit
For battery-powered touch use, ASUS describes its ZenScreen Touch MB16AMTR as having a 7800 mAh built-in battery, 10-point touch, and up to four hours of independent use. That runtime is a manufacturer claim; actual use can vary with conditions. ASUS says its portable monitors can typically draw power from a laptop over USB-C, while connections to a smartphone, tablet, console, or camera need a separate power source.
For a gaming-oriented alternative, ASUS identifies the ZenScreen MB16NCG as offering a 155 Hz overclocked refresh rate. For an OLED preference outside the five main picks, ASUS points to the MQ16AHE. These are alternatives for specific priorities, not direct substitutes for every feature in the shortlist.
