Mega Victreebel and Mega Gengar are the leading general-purpose Poison raid attackers in the rankings checked on October 7, 2026. Eternatus, Mega Beedrill, and Nihilego are also strong options. Treat this as a shortlist for raids where the boss is weak to Poison—not a ranking of the best attackers overall. Simulator settings and move assumptions affect the order.
Best Poison attackers for raids
Two current ranking tools put Mega Victreebel and Mega Gengar near the top. Dittobase’s eDPS list ranks Mega Victreebel first and Mega Gengar second; Pokémon GO Hub’s ranking also places both at the top. The sources differ in their exact rankings and scoring, so the results are best read as evidence of strong choices rather than one definitive order. Dittobase’s attacker ranking says it was updated October 6, 2026. The comparison below reflects the rankings consulted on October 7, 2026. Pokémon GO Hub’s attackers tier list provides another ranking with its own settings.
| Attacker | Moves reported by the ranking sources | What the rankings support |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Victreebel | Acid / Acid Spray+ | First in the Dittobase eDPS ranking and at the top of the Pokémon GO Hub ranking consulted. |
| Mega Gengar | Lick / Sludge Bomb | Second in Dittobase and also near the top in the Hub ranking. |
| Eternatus | Poison Jab / Sludge Bomb | Third in Dittobase and a strong option in the Hub and Poison-move simulator results. |
| Mega Beedrill | Poison Jab / Sludge Bomb | Fifth in Dittobase and third in the Hub ranking. |
| Nihilego | Poison Jab / Sludge Bomb | Among the leading options in the Hub ranking; its Pokémon GO Hub page confirms the listed moves. |
| Shadow Regigigas | Hidden Power Poison / Crush Grip | Fourth in Dittobase’s ranking, which includes Shadow Pokémon and mixed move types. |
| Shadow Overqwil | Poison Jab / Sludge Bomb | Among the leading options in the Hub ranking. |
The table reports movesets and relative placements from the cited rankings, not a guarantee that every move is currently obtainable or selectable. Check a Pokémon’s available moves in-game before spending resources.

Choose a Mega for a Poison-focused raid team
Mega Victreebel and Mega Gengar are the clearest first choices in the consulted general rankings. Mega Beedrill is another ranked Mega option. Which is best for a particular raid depends on the boss, your available moves, and the simulator assumptions; the sources do not establish a boss-by-boss winner.

Use non-Mega options when they fit your roster
Eternatus and Nihilego are strong choices in the consulted rankings, while Shadow Regigigas and Shadow Overqwil appear in lists that include Shadow Pokémon. These options are not interchangeable: ranking positions can change depending on whether a tool includes Megas or Shadows and what moves it evaluates.
Check the boss before choosing Poison damage
A type ranking only helps when Poison is effective against the raid boss. These rankings assess attackers against targets weak to Poison; they do not mean Poison is a good choice for every raid. Check the boss’s weaknesses and the current raid recommendations first. The Pokebattler Poison attackers page is specifically framed around Pokémon using a Poison move and includes non-Poison Pokémon such as Eternatus, Keldeo, and Shadow Regigigas.

Why rankings disagree
Each tool calculates performance under its own assumptions, so do not combine scores from different sites into a single precise ranking. Dittobase describes eDPS as a blend of sustained damage and relobby downtime, and lets users configure factors including Megas, Shadows, off-type coverage, weather, friendship, and Party Power. Pokémon GO Hub reports DPS, TDO, and a score, and also offers configuration choices. Those metrics and settings are not established as directly comparable.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Damage versus endurance: DPS emphasizes damage rate, while TDO reflects total damage over a Pokémon’s time in battle. A combined metric may weigh those differently.
- Relobby downtime: A ranking that accounts for time spent rejoining after a team faints can differ from one focused on attack output.
- Included Pokémon: Mega and Shadow settings can change which attackers qualify and where they land.
- Move filtering: A list of Pokémon with Poison-type attacks can include Pokémon that are not Poison-type themselves.
- Move availability: A result may assume a specific move, including one whose availability should be confirmed in-game.
Movesets to verify before investing
The rankings consulted report Acid / Acid Spray+ for Mega Victreebel; Lick / Sludge Bomb for Mega Gengar; and Poison Jab / Sludge Bomb for Eternatus, Mega Beedrill, Nihilego, and Shadow Overqwil. Dittobase lists Hidden Power Poison / Crush Grip for Shadow Regigigas. These are source-reported combinations, not confirmation that every move can currently be taught or obtained. Check the Pokémon’s in-game move options before using resources.

What this list does—and does not—cover
This is a general raid-attacker guide, not advice for Great League, Ultra League, Master League, or PvP team building. It is also not an official Niantic ranking: the cited placements come from third-party ranking and simulator tools, and no official Niantic Poison-type ranking or current boss-by-boss counter simulation is established here.
Rankings were checked on October 7, 2026, and can change with game updates, move availability, or calculator settings. The sources consulted do not establish whether every Pokémon in the shortlist is currently obtainable. Check in-game events or official announcements for current availability. The official Pokémon GO announcement for the November 2024 event described a temporary bonus for eligible participants from November 25–29, 2024; it is historical, not a current raid bonus.
