The OnePlus Nord 4 is the stronger fit if you want a newer processor platform, 5G positioning, a larger stated battery and faster charging. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max stands out for its 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD expansion and dedicated ultra-wide and macro rear cameras. A reliable current price difference cannot be calculated from the available listings: the Xiaomi page’s ₹15,999 title is not confirmation of a live offer, and no comparable current Nord 4 price is established.

Which phone has the newer platform and network?
The Nord 4 has the newer published processor platform: OnePlus names the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, while Xiaomi lists the Snapdragon 720G for the Redmi. That difference supports calling the Nord 4 the newer hardware platform, but it is not a substitute for benchmark results or a direct speed test.

OnePlus announced the Nord 4 as a 5G smartphone; Xiaomi lists 4G support for the Redmi. Actual 5G access depends on the Nord 4 market variant, supported bands, carrier and coverage. Check local compatibility before buying.
Battery and charging: what the figures do—and do not—show
The Nord 4 has the larger stated capacity: 5,500mAh versus 5,020mAh. Its listed charging system is also higher wattage: 100W SUPERVOOC, compared with Xiaomi’s included 33W charger. OnePlus’s launch release claims that the Nord 4 can charge from 1% to 100% in 28 minutes.
These are manufacturer specifications and a manufacturer charging claim, not independent measurements. Capacity and charger wattage alone do not establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use or how quickly it will charge in every situation.

Camera differences: modules versus evidence of image quality
Xiaomi provides more detail about the Redmi’s rear-camera array: a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth camera. The Nord 4 launch release identifies a 50MP Sony main camera sensor. The cited OnePlus source does not establish the Nord 4’s full camera configuration or its front-camera specification.
The Redmi’s listed ultra-wide and macro modules may matter if you specifically want those camera types. However, megapixel counts and the number of modules do not show which phone takes better photos. The available sources contain no same-method camera comparison.
Display, storage and everyday convenience
Display details
Xiaomi lists a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a 2400 × 1080 resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 for the Redmi. The OnePlus launch source cited here does not provide enough display information for a like-for-like comparison.

Memory and local storage
The Redmi is listed in 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB configurations, with microSD expansion up to 512GB. OnePlus’s launch release says the Nord 4 is available with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. “Up to” figures are maximum configurations, not a guarantee that every configuration is sold in your market. Compare the exact variant and price you can actually buy.
Wired headphones and removable storage
The Redmi’s documented 3.5mm jack and hybrid microSD slot are practical advantages if you use wired headphones or keep files locally on a card. The sources used here do not establish whether the Nord 4 has either feature, so do not assume it does or does not without checking the exact model specification.

A 2024 OnePlus India Experience Store post stated that the Nord 4 would receive four Android OS updates and six years of security updates. Treat that as a dated statement of the announced policy, not confirmation that support remains current or a complete account of update timing in every region. The cited Xiaomi pages do not establish a software-support commitment for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. For either phone, verify the current regional support status if update longevity matters.
Is there a current price difference?
There is not enough comparable live pricing evidence here to give a defensible rupee difference. Xiaomi’s India product page title includes “@₹15,999,” but the page also uses stock-notification messaging; that title is not proof that a specific variant can currently be purchased at that price. The OnePlus launch release does not establish a current Nord 4 selling price.
To compare prices fairly, check listings on the same date and in the same country, then match RAM and storage, condition, seller and warranty. Separate new phones from used or refurbished stock, and account for bank or exchange offers rather than treating them as the standard price. The two models are from different release periods and may be offered through different channels and in different conditions.

Consider the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max if
- You specifically need a 3.5mm headphone jack or microSD expansion up to 512GB.
- You want the listed ultra-wide and macro rear-camera modules.
- You find a listing in acceptable condition and can verify its battery health, security-support status and warranty. Those details are not established by the cited manufacturer pages.
