The POCO X8 Pro Max has the stronger listed chipset and a larger battery, while the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G lists a faster-refreshing display. There is no dependable universal price gap: an Indian listing snapshot put the two close together, but the POCO listing was out of stock. Compare current local prices and the exact configuration before buying.

Specifications and availability can vary by market. The values above are manufacturer or publication listings, not measurements from this article. POCO’s product page also presents an AnTuTu score of 3,085,998; that is POCO’s own benchmark claim, not an independent test result.

Which phone is faster?

On the published chipset specifications, the POCO’s Dimensity 9500s sits in a higher tier than the TECNO’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate, making POCO the more promising choice for demanding games and heavy multitasking. That is a specification-based comparison, not a guarantee of performance in every app or game.

91mobiles reports Geekbench multi-core scores of 8,483 for POCO and 3,200 for TECNO. Those figures are that publication’s test results, not tests conducted for this article; performance can also vary with software, settings, temperature and test conditions.

Which display is better for you?

The TECNO lists the higher maximum refresh rate at 144Hz, compared with POCO’s 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make supported motion look smoother, but the benefit depends on the content and settings. POCO’s display is slightly larger at 6.83 inches versus TECNO’s 6.78 inches. TECNO lists its panel resolution as 2644 × 1208, while POCO describes its panel as 1.5K.

Which has the better battery and charging setup?

POCO lists an 8,500mAh battery and 100W wired charging; TECNO lists 6,500mAh and 45W. The capacity difference favors POCO on paper, but capacity alone does not establish real-world battery life: screen use, network conditions, software and workload all matter. Confirm regional specifications and charging requirements for the exact device you are considering.

91mobiles reports battery-test durations of 21 hours 21 minutes for POCO and 10 hours 40 minutes for TECNO. These are that publisher’s results, not a controlled test performed for this article, and the available source material does not establish a matching independent hands-on test for TECNO.

What do the camera specifications tell you?

Both phones list a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. TECNO explicitly specifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on its main camera; TechRadar lists a 20MP front camera for POCO, while TECNO specifies 13MP. These figures describe hardware, not comparative photo quality. Megapixel count and OIS alone cannot show how a phone handles focus, motion, color, low light or video.

How do their software support claims compare?

TechRadar reports four years of OS-version updates and six years of security updates for POCO. 91mobiles lists two OS-version years and three security years for TECNO. TECNO’s product specifications identify Android 16-based HiOS 16. Because support terms can vary by region and may be described differently by manufacturers and retailers, check the commitment for the country and variant you will buy.

What is the price difference?

There is no single global price difference: prices, storage configurations, stock and sellers vary by market. In an Indian listing snapshot from 91mobiles, the POCO X8 Pro Max was listed at ₹48,999 but marked out of stock, while the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G was listed at ₹49,999 through Flipkart. That is a ₹1,000 difference between those displayed listings, not a confirmed current, in-stock, like-for-like offer.

Those are POCO price references reported by TechRadar, not a current comparison with TECNO in either currency. Check local retailers for the same storage capacity, warranty and seller conditions before treating any listed gap as a buying advantage.

Does TECNO’s 144Hz gaming feature change the choice?

TECNO advertises a PUBG MOBILE 144FPS mode, but its product-page caveat says the feature is conditional on a future major game update. Do not assume the advertised mode is available in the current game version or in every region. The listed 144Hz screen refresh rate is a separate specification and does not by itself mean a game will run at 144 frames per second.

Which phone should you choose?

  • Choose POCO if the higher-tier listed chipset, larger stated battery, or TechRadar-reported longer update commitment matters most—and the current local price and stock work for you.
  • Consider TECNO if you prioritize its listed 144Hz refresh rate, want OIS explicitly specified on the main camera, or find it at a more attractive price from a reliable local seller.
  • Before ordering either, confirm exact storage, regional specifications, update terms, warranty and current stock. These details can change the value of an otherwise close comparison.

TechRadar says the POCO package it reviewed included a cable but no wall plug; box contents can vary by region, so verify what comes with the local model.
