The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G leads on published display size and resolution, battery capacity, and wired charging speed. The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G offers microSD expansion up to 1TB on Samsung’s UK specification page and a clearly stated Android and security-update commitment. There is no reliable universal price difference: the available official prices are for different countries, dates, and storage configurations.

The cited manufacturer specifications are not independent performance tests. In particular, they do not establish which processor is faster in everyday use, which camera takes better photos, or how long either battery lasts for a typical owner.
Which phone has the better display?
The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has the larger panel at 6.83 inches and the higher stated resolution, 1.5K. Samsung lists a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel for the Galaxy A35 5G. Both manufacturers specify refresh rates up to 120Hz. Those published figures make Xiaomi the stronger choice on screen size and resolution, but they do not by themselves prove a difference in brightness, color accuracy, or outdoor readability.

Battery capacity and charging: Xiaomi leads on paper
Xiaomi lists an 8,340mAh typical battery and 67W wired HyperCharge for the Redmi, plus reverse charging up to 22.5W. Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery for the A35 and 25W charging. The Redmi therefore has the larger stated capacity and higher charging wattage; neither figure alone predicts a buyer’s actual battery life or charging time. Xiaomi says its “beyond 2-day” battery language is based on its own test scenario, and notes that results vary with environment, software, network, and usage.

Power-adapter contents differ by market and seller. Xiaomi UK says an adapter is not included, while Samsung UK says its 25W wall charger is sold separately. Check the package for the exact regional model before buying a compatible charger.
Camera specifications do not settle photo quality
Samsung’s UK product specifications give a clear rear-camera breakdown: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro, alongside a 13MP front camera. Xiaomi promotes an AI imaging system for the Redmi, but the sensor configuration should be checked on the specification page for the buyer’s region. Megapixel counts and marketing descriptions are not a substitute for comparable camera samples, so the published information does not support calling either phone the better camera.

Storage and durability differences
Expandable storage
Samsung’s UK page lists 128GB and 256GB versions of the Galaxy A35 5G and support for microSD cards up to 1TB. Xiaomi says Redmi configurations vary by region and recommends confirming the local seller’s version. If removable storage is important, verify the A35’s SIM and microSD tray configuration in your market before purchase.

The cited UAE Redmi page lists IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings and describes a test involving static freshwater at a depth of 2 metres for 72 hours. Xiaomi cautions that use beyond test conditions is not covered by that statement. Samsung lists IP67 for the A35, based on up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, and says resistance may diminish with wear. The ratings reflect different tests and are not guarantees against liquid damage; neither phone should be described as waterproof.

Software support: compare the promises carefully
Samsung announced up to four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and five years of security updates for the Galaxy A35. Xiaomi states six years of security updates for the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G. Xiaomi’s separate 60-month “like-new software experience” wording refers to an internal software-aging test; it is not an equivalent promise of 60 months of Android version upgrades. For buyers prioritizing a defined operating-system upgrade count, Samsung states that count explicitly.

These figures cannot establish which phone costs less for a buyer today: they use different currencies, markets, dates, and configurations. For a useful local comparison, check both phones in the same country on the same date, match storage as closely as possible, and compare equivalent seller and warranty terms. The cited Xiaomi UAE product page does not state a price, and the available information does not provide a current matched Saudi price for Samsung.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G if its larger, higher-resolution display, bigger stated battery, 67W charging, or published six-year security-update period best matches your priorities—and confirm the local configuration and price.
- Choose the Galaxy A35 5G if you value microSD expansion up to 1TB, a published camera-lens breakdown, or Samsung’s stated Android and One UI upgrade count.
