If you mean the main Luffy–Kaido battle in Wano, watch episodes 1015–1035, then resume with 1051–1070. Continue through episode 1076 for the final Gear 5 stretch and the fight’s endpoint. Luffy’s earlier first clash with Kaido is separate: it occurs in episodes 914–915.
These are practical watch ranges, not 100-percent fight-only blocks. Wano’s other storylines continue inside them, so the battle advances in stages rather than appearing as one uninterrupted duel.
Which Kaido fight are you looking for?
“The Kaido fight” can mean two different encounters in the anime. The first is Luffy’s early Wano confrontation with Kaido. The second is the much longer Onigashima raid battle, where Luffy and the allied pirates reach the rooftop to face Kaido and Big Mom.
| What you want to watch | Episodes | What the range represents |
|---|---|---|
| First clash in Wano | 914–915 | The early encounter between Luffy and Kaido, before the later raid battle. |
| Main rooftop battle, opening block | 1015–1035 | The rooftop confrontation begins and develops, with other Wano plotlines interwoven. |
| Main rooftop battle, continuation | 1051–1070 | The Kaido fight resumes after the intervening Wano episodes. |
| Late battle and conclusion | Continue through 1076 | The final Gear 5 stretch and the concluding episode. |
If you only want the major Luffy-versus-Kaido storyline, use the rooftop blocks and then keep going to 1076. If you want to understand how Luffy first meets Kaido in Wano, add 914–915 before starting the raid material.

The complete watch order
1. Watch episodes 914–915 for the first clash
Episodes 914 and 915 are the first Kaido encounter in Wano. They are not the beginning of the later rooftop raid, and they do not replace the Onigashima episodes. Treat them as the setup encounter: useful if you want the full Luffy–Kaido history, optional if your goal is only the climactic battle.
Starting here gives you the earliest anime meeting between the two characters in Wano. Stopping after episode 915 leaves the central raid conflict unwatched; the large-scale confrontation comes much later in the episode sequence.
2. Start the rooftop story at episode 1015
Episode 1015 is the clean starting point for the main raid battle. Its episode synopsis places Luffy and the allied pirates on the rooftop, facing Kaido and Big Mom. That rooftop arrival is the practical point at which the headline Luffy–Kaido fight begins.
You do not need to begin at episode 1000 merely to reach the rooftop. Earlier episodes contain important Wano events, but 1015 is the specific episode identified with the allies reaching Kaido and Big Mom on the roof.
3. Watch episodes 1015–1035 as the opening battle block
Watch the complete 1015–1035 range if you want the first sustained section of the rooftop battle. The block is long enough to show the fight’s progression rather than a single introductory exchange.

Do not expect every minute to show Luffy trading blows with Kaido. The range also carries other Wano storylines, character reactions and battlefield developments. Those scenes are part of the raid’s structure, even when Kaido is not on screen.
4. Resume at episode 1051
After episode 1035, the episode-range guide places the next Kaido-fight viewing block at 1051–1070. In other words, the fight does not conclude at 1035, and the relevant continuation does not begin at 1036. If you stop at 1035, mark episode 1051 as your next Kaido-focused starting point.

Episodes between the two blocks belong to the broader Wano narrative. Whether you watch them depends on your tolerance for surrounding plot, but skipping from 1035 directly to 1051 means you are following a curated fight range rather than a complete chronological watch of every raid development.
5. Watch episodes 1051–1070 for the continuation
The 1051–1070 block carries the rooftop battle into its later phase. It is the second major section of the watch guide, not a separate fight with a new continuity.
Episode 1069 is a useful title-based checkpoint. Its official listing is titled “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido.” That wording makes it easy to identify when browsing a season or arc list, but episode 1069 is not the final episode of the overall confrontation. Continue beyond it.

6. Continue through episode 1076
For the final Gear 5 stretch, continue watching through episode 1076. The official and streaming listings title episode 1076 “The World That Luffy Wants!” and describe the concluding punch. It is the endpoint to use when someone asks which episode finishes the Luffy–Kaido fight.

Three practical ways to watch
Option A: Full Luffy–Kaido chronology
- Watch episodes 914–915 for the first Wano clash.
- Jump to episode 1015 for the rooftop beginning.
- Watch episodes 1015–1035.
- Resume at episode 1051 and continue through 1070.
- Keep watching through episode 1076 for the final stretch and endpoint.
This is the best plan when you want to see both encounters while avoiding a claim that the two ranges are one continuous scene.
Option B: Main raid battle only
- Begin at episode 1015.
- Watch through episode 1035.
- Pick up at episode 1051.
- Continue through episode 1076 rather than stopping at 1070 or 1069.
Choose this plan if your question is specifically about the Onigashima rooftop battle and you do not need the earlier first clash.
Option C: A late-battle catch-up
- Start at episode 1051.
- Watch through episode 1070.
- Continue through episode 1076 to see the concluding stretch.
This is the shortest range that still covers the later continuation and ending, but it assumes you already know what happened in the opening rooftop block. It is not a substitute for 1015–1035 if you want the battle’s beginning.

Why the episode ranges are not one uninterrupted duel
Anime episode ranges are often described as a “fight” even when they contain several plot threads. The Kaido ranges here should be read as watch-guide blocks: episodes in which the Luffy–Kaido conflict starts, advances or reaches a major stage.
- Parallel Wano stories: The raid continues elsewhere while the rooftop conflict develops, so some scenes focus on characters other than Luffy or Kaido.
- Staged progression: The battle is split into an opening rooftop block and a later continuation, with episodes in between that are not included in the condensed range.
- Different stopping points: Episode 1069 has a direct “Luffy vs. Kaido” title, but episode 1076 is the endpoint for the concluding punch.
- Spoiler level: Episode titles and synopses identify the encounter and ending without providing a scene-by-scene account. Reading titles can still reveal milestones.
If you want every Wano event in broadcast order, watch the entire arc rather than treating the ranges as a replacement for the full story. If you only want the fight’s major beats, the blocks above are the focused route.
Episode checkpoints at a glance
| Checkpoint | Episodes | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Early Wano encounter | 914–915 | Add these before the raid if you want Luffy’s first clash with Kaido. |
| Rooftop arrival | 1015 | Start here for the main Luffy–Kaido battle; the allies reach Kaido and Big Mom on the roof. |
| Opening rooftop block | 1015–1035 | Watch the first major section of the raid fight. |
| Continuation begins | 1051 | Resume here after the intervening episodes. |
| “Luffy vs. Kaido” title checkpoint | 1069 | Recognize the explicitly titled late-battle episode; do not treat it as the ending. |
| Final endpoint | 1076 | Finish here for the concluding punch and the end of the fight. |
How to find the right episodes on a streaming service
Episode numbering is more reliable than searching only by a character name, because services may group Wano episodes under different season or arc labels. Use the following process:
- Open the series’ episode list. Switch from a “continue watching” view to the full episode index so you can enter a number directly.
- Search for episode 1015. Confirm that its synopsis refers to Luffy and the allied pirates reaching the rooftop against Kaido and Big Mom.
- Check the numbering system. Some services divide the series into seasons, while others show one continuous episode count. Select the listing whose global episode number is 1015, not a local season episode 15.
- Set a bookmark at 1035. When you finish the opening block, record episode 1051 as the next focused starting point.
- Verify the late titles. Episode 1069 should show “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido,” and episode 1076 should show “The World That Luffy Wants!”
- Check territory access. Licensed episode availability can vary by country and can change over time. If one service does not list a number, use another licensed provider available in your region rather than assuming the episode was omitted.
Common watch-order mistakes
Starting at 914 and expecting the final battle
Episodes 914–915 are the first clash, not the rooftop raid. They establish the earlier encounter but sit far before episode 1015.
Starting at 1015 and stopping at 1035
Episode 1035 ends the first curated block, not the complete fight. The guide’s continuation begins at 1051.

Stopping at episode 1069
The title “There is Only One Winner – Luffy vs. Kaido” makes 1069 look like a finale, but the concluding stretch continues afterward. Watch through 1076 for the endpoint.
Assuming every listed episode is wall-to-wall action
The ranges include other Wano storylines. If you are scheduling a short viewing session, plan for narrative transitions instead of expecting a continuous sequence of exchanges.
Using a season’s local episode number
A season-based catalog can label an episode “15” even though its global series number is 1015. Always confirm the overall One Piece episode number and, where available, the synopsis or title.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow much should you watch around the fight?
The right amount depends on what you mean by “cover.”
- Only the first encounter: 914–915 is sufficient for the early Wano clash.
- The battle’s opening and continuation: Use 1015–1035 and 1051–1070.
- The complete focused route: Add 914–915, then follow the rooftop blocks and continue through 1076.
- The full Wano narrative: Watch the arc in normal order. The focused ranges intentionally leave out episodes that carry surrounding storylines.
There is no single “Kaido fight episode” that contains the whole conflict. Episode 1015 is the correct start for the rooftop battle, episode 1069 is a prominent late-battle title marker, and episode 1076 is the endpoint for the concluding stretch.
Release and listing details
The official ONE PIECE episode index lists episode 1069 with a July 16, 2023 broadcast date in the surfaced listing. That date is useful when checking archived schedules, but it does not change the global episode number or the recommended watch order.
Titles can be localized slightly differently between services. The English wording quoted above is the listing language associated with the identified episodes; if your service uses another translation, match by episode number and synopsis as well as title.
