Is San Antonio the easiest team to become a starter?
San Antonio is the best-supported choice here if your priority is a relatively attainable route into the SF role while still having strong teammates. NBA 2KW identifies Vassell as the primary SF at 81 OVR and describes the Spurs as an especially attractive destination. That does not prove the role is easier than Minnesota’s or Cleveland’s in every save: rotations, roster changes, and your MyPLAYER’s progress can affect how the competition plays out.

If you care more about joining a competitive roster than minimizing role competition, Minnesota or Cleveland may suit you better. The guide lists Minnesota’s projected incumbent at 81 OVR and Cleveland’s main SF option at 79 OVR. Those numbers can help frame the choice, but they are not a complete measure of lineup opportunity or a promise of minutes.
Check your MyCAREER era before using a modern team ranking
The recommendations above apply to current-era team selection, not every MyCAREER option. 2K says NBA 2K27 MyCAREER includes five playable eras: Magic vs. Bird (1984), Jordan (1991), Kobe (2003), LeBron (2010), and Steph (2016). Rosters, rules, and presentation are calibrated to each period, with historically locked rosters and player movement described in the official announcement. A current roster guide should not be treated as a ranking for those historical settings.

In the modern story path, 2K says your draft position can shift with your performance, but you can manually select a team regardless of where you land. Team choice is therefore not solely determined by the draft outcome. How your SF build factors into the decision
Your build and career progression shape how you play and develop, but no source establishes that a particular SF build automatically earns a starting role. 2K’s MyPLAYER Builder announcement describes Badge Tokens, Badge Loadouts, and Synergy as customization and matchup systems. Use those systems to shape the player you want to build; do not treat them as a guaranteed shortcut past a team’s rotation.

Verify the roster in your save
- Choose your era. If you want one of the current-era recommendations, use the modern story path rather than assuming a historical era has the same roster.
- Inspect the team’s SF options in your save. Compare the current depth chart and player ratings with the guide’s snapshot, since roster updates may change either.
- Choose your priority. Pick San Antonio for the guide’s combination of opportunity and supporting talent, Minnesota for a competitive team where you are willing to challenge for the spot, or Cleveland for its contender context and reported SF opening.
- Make the team choice in the modern story. 2K says manual selection is available regardless of draft position.
