For a safer defense, choose Guard; for a riskier, more efficient Break when timed correctly, choose Parry; and choose Harden when you want that action to be your defensive response. What Gloomslayer does is not established by the available guide and wiki reporting. The names Untarnished, Infinite, Vatra’s, and Slayer are reported associations—not official Seal documentation.

Guard: a forgiving way to learn an attack
The Untarnished Seal is described as blocking incoming attacks with the equipped weapon. A timing guide presents Guard as the more forgiving option: an early input may still block, while a Guard timed close to impact can produce Perfect Guard feedback and Break pressure. The seal reference also says a correctly timed Guard deals Break Damage.
That fallback makes Guard a practical starting point when learning an enemy’s attack cue. It gives you a chance to defend even if your timing is early, rather than requiring every attempt to land as a precise parry.

Parry: more risk for a stronger Break result
The Infinite Seal is described as a Parry Seal. The cited reference says a correctly timed parry breaks enemies more efficiently, while the timing guide characterizes it as a committed action without Guard’s ordinary block fallback. A missed or mistimed attempt therefore leaves less room for error.
Learn the attack’s cue with Guard before switching to Parry if you are unsure when it lands. The sources do not provide a reliable universal timing window, so do not treat a particular number of milliseconds as applicable to every attack.

Harden: defend with a timed Harden
Vatra’s Seal is associated with Harden. The cited Seal reference says Harden withstands the next attack and that a correctly timed Perfect Harden deals Break Damage. A timing guide additionally reports that Perfect Harden refreshes the meter immediately; that refresh detail is guide-reported, not verified by official documentation.

Choose this approach when Harden is the defensive response you want to practice. The sources do not establish a numeric timing window, so use the attack’s cue and the game’s feedback rather than assuming every enemy attack shares identical timing.

What does the Gloomslayer Seal do?
The available index connects Slayer Seal with Gloomslayer, but the material does not explain what the Seal does, what it costs, or whether it changes difficulty or achievements. There is not enough evidence here to recommend it for a particular playstyle or describe a mechanical effect.
If its exact behavior matters, check its current in-game description or official patch notes. The available reporting does not establish whether later updates have changed any Seal behavior.

- Choose Harden when you want to withstand the next attack with Harden and pursue the reported Perfect Harden reward.
- Do not assume a specific Gloomslayer effect from the name alone; the available sources do not establish one.
- Pick one readable enemy attack rather than trying to learn several timings at once.
- Practice Guard first to identify the cue and observe the difference between a basic block and Perfect Guard feedback.
- Once the cue is familiar, try Parry or Harden against that same attack and compare the result.
