For the 2026 US model year, the Honda Civic Type R and Toyota GR Corolla are confirmed manual-equipped hot hatches. Both also offer substantial turbocharged power; the GR Corolla additionally has an automatic option. Hyundai’s Elantra N still comes with a manual, but it is a sedan—not a hatchback. These specifications confirm what is listed, not whether the brands are succeeding in sustaining demand for manuals.
Which 2026 hot hatches still come with a manual in the US?
The strongest confirmed examples are the Honda Civic Type R and Toyota GR Corolla. Their manufacturers list six-speed manuals for 2026, and both are hatchbacks. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Honda Civic Type R
Honda describes the 2026 Civic Type R as a high-performance hatchback and lists a six-speed manual with rev-match control. Its 2.0-liter turbo engine is rated at 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. Honda lists a starting MSRP of $47,395; that manufacturer-listed price may change, so check current local pricing and availability before buying.

Toyota GR Corolla
Toyota lists the 2026 GR Corolla with a six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission with rev matching or an eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. Its turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder is rated at 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft, and Toyota specifies GR-FOUR all-wheel drive. Toyota said 2026 models were expected at dealerships in fall 2025; that release timing is not a guarantee of current inventory.
Does the Hyundai Elantra N count as a manual hot hatch?
It is a relevant manual performance car, but not a direct US hot-hatch example: Hyundai identifies the 2026 Elantra N as a high-performance sedan. Hyundai lists a six-speed manual as standard and an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission as optional. Its 2.0-liter turbo engine is rated at 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft. Treat it as adjacent context when comparing manual performance cars, not as a hatchback.

What about the Volkswagen Golf GTI?
Volkswagen’s US 2026 Golf GTI page identifies it as a hatchback and lists 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft, but the retrieved page content does not state that a manual is available. That leaves current US manual availability unconfirmed; the page’s omission alone does not establish that the manual has been discontinued.
