For a shared office, the Fellowes Powershred 225Ci pairs a 16-gallon bin with a stated capacity of up to 22 sheets per pass and continuous shredding. The 125Ci is a smaller-bin alternative at 14 gallons; for departmental workloads, Fellowes’ 2023 commercial catalog lists models with bins from 22 to 35 gallons. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from hands-on testing, and the catalog-era details should be checked against current product information before buying.
Compare bin size, workload, and features
“Large capacity” depends on how many people use the machine and how often they shred. A 14- or 16-gallon bin may suit a shared-use office, while a 22-, 30-, or 35-gallon bin is aimed at departmental use. A bigger bin means less frequent emptying, but it does not by itself establish the right sheet capacity, security level, runtime, or footprint for your workplace.

Which model suits your workload?
For a shared office: 125Ci or 225Ci
The 225Ci offers two more gallons of bin capacity and a stated maximum of two additional sheets per pass compared with the 125Ci. Both are specified for continuous use and list SafeSense and 100% Jam Proof, with cross-cut P-4 output. Choose between them based on the value of that added capacity and throughput for your users, then check the current specifications and dimensions before ordering.
For departmental shredding: 325Ci, 425Ci, or 485Ci
The 2023 catalog positions these models for departments and lists bins of 22, 30, and 35 gallons, respectively. It lists capacities of 22 sheets per pass for the 325Ci and 30 for both the 425Ci and 485Ci. The 485Ci has the largest listed bin, but the 425Ci and 485Ci share the same listed sheet capacity; a larger bin is not evidence of a faster feed rate.

Fellowes describes its commercial line as designed for large offices with multiple users, continuous run times, and high sheet capacities. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent performance assessment.

- Security: The models compared here are listed as cross-cut P-4. The commercial catalog distinguishes P-4 cross-cut from P-5 micro-cut among its cited commercial models, but the listed specifications for these five models identify P-4. If your organization requires a particular security level, confirm the current model specification and your document-destruction policy.
- Feed capacity and operating pattern: Sheet counts are manufacturer-stated per-pass figures, not independent test results. Consider how many people will use the shredder and how much material they process in a typical session.
- Jams and safety: The 125Ci and 225Ci list 100% Jam Proof and SafeSense. Do not assume those features apply to the three larger catalog models; check their current product details.
- Space and access: A high-capacity bin can mean a larger machine. Confirm the current dimensions, placement, and emptying arrangements for the specific model; the cited specifications do not establish a footprint comparison.
- Materials: The cited model information covers paper and items such as staples, cards, discs, and junk mail. It does not establish that these shredders can process cardboard, so verify that capability separately before feeding it.
