The listing also describes optional sunrise lighting through compatible Apple HomeKit lamps and bulbs. A compatible bulb is an add-on for that lighting feature, not a stated requirement for using the sound alarm. Check compatibility for the specific bulb before buying.

When Apple Clock is the better choice
If you want a familiar, straightforward alarm rather than nature-focused fade-in features, start with Apple’s built-in Clock app. Apple’s guide documents choosing vibration, a song or a ringtone, setting repeat days, and adjusting snooze and snooze duration.
Apple Support says alarms created in Clock sound even when Silent mode or Focus is on, and when headphones are connected. That guidance applies to Apple’s Clock alarms; it should not be assumed to describe how every third-party app alarm behaves.

When to choose Sleep Cycle
Sleep Cycle is a better fit if you care more about sleep tracking and a wake-up window than specifically about a gradual nature-sound alarm. Its official Smart Alarm page says the window can range from 10 to 30 minutes and that Smart Alarm is available on the Free plan. The same page lists custom alarm sounds as a Premium feature.

What to know about alarm reliability
Apple’s guidance about alarms sounding in Silent mode, Focus and with headphones connected is specific to alarms created in Clock. Wonderwake separately advertises an iPhone system-alarm backup, but that description does not establish that it is foolproof. No alarm app should be treated as a guarantee against a missed wake-up.
