The four Glorious mouse settings most worth tuning for gaming are DPI (sensitivity), polling rate, lift-off distance (LOD), and debounce time. However, the correct starting point depends on your exact mouse generation. A Model O 2 Wired uses Glorious CORE and has different defaults from a first-generation Model O, which uses Model O Wired software. Start with the settings documented for your model, change one variable at a time, save the configuration, and verify it in the game you actually play.

Identify your mouse and software before changing anything

Glorious has released several Model O generations and wired, wireless, standard, Mini, and PRO versions. Their menus, defaults, and available ranges are not identical. A setting that is safe to copy from a Model O 2 Wired guide may be wrong for a first-generation Model O or a Model O 2 Mini Wired.

Which software does each generation use?

  • Model O 2 Wired: It works for basic use without Glorious CORE, but CORE is needed for personalized DPI settings and fuller customization, including custom macros, button remapping, the complete RGB palette, and saved settings.
  • Model O 2 Mini Wired: Use the CORE generation of software and its own documented defaults. Do not assume its debounce default matches the standard O 2 Wired.
  • PRO 1KHz mice: Use the PRO-compatible CORE controls and the PRO ranges listed for polling, LOD, and debounce.
  • PRO 4K/8KHz mice: Use CORE to select a report rate that the game and computer can support.
  • First-generation Model O and Model O- Wired: These are not CORE-compatible. Install and use Model O Wired software instead.
  • Model O 2 Wireless: Its wireless and wired behavior should be treated separately from the O 2 Wired specifications, including battery-related considerations.

If the mouse name on the underside or its packaging does not clearly identify the generation, confirm the model in the support documentation before installing software. Selecting the wrong utility can leave settings unavailable or make a guide appear not to match your mouse.

1. Set DPI for controlled sensitivity, not for a bigger number

DPI describes how much cursor movement the sensor reports for a given physical movement. Higher DPI moves the pointer farther for the same hand motion; lower DPI requires more movement. It is not a score, and the highest available value is not automatically the best gaming choice.

Use the documented O 2 Wired levels as a baseline

The Model O 2 Wired guide lists 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 DPI, with 1600 DPI as the factory default. Treat 1600 as a starting reference rather than a recommendation for every game. A player who needs broad arm movement for a low-sensitivity shooter may prefer 400 or 800. Someone using a small desk area or a high in-game sensitivity may prefer 1600 or 3200.

DPI and in-game sensitivity multiply together. Raising both at once can make aim dramatically faster, while lowering one may require compensating with the other. When comparing settings, keep the game sensitivity fixed, change the mouse DPI, and judge whether you can make small corrections as well as a full turn.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Change DPI without losing consistency

  1. Connect the mouse in the mode you intend to play, then open the software supported by that generation.
  2. In CORE, select the connected mouse and open its DPI or sensitivity control. First-generation Model O/O- owners should use Model O Wired software instead.
  3. Choose one documented DPI level. Start with the factory value if you have no established preference.
  4. Leave the game’s sensitivity unchanged while you test. Play a training drill or a normal match long enough to notice both slow tracking and over-correction.
  5. Save the configuration in the software, then confirm that the selected level remains active after restarting the game or reconnecting the mouse.

Do not change DPI repeatedly during a match unless you deliberately use separate sensitivity levels. Consistency matters more than chasing a number associated with another player.

2. Choose a polling rate your game can actually use

Polling rate is how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. A 1000 Hz setting corresponds to a nominal 1 millisecond reporting interval. A higher setting is a hardware and software option, not a guaranteed improvement in aim or frame rate.

When 1000 Hz is the sensible starting point

The Model O 2 Wired and the cited standard models default to 1000 Hz. Keep that default when your mouse does not offer a higher rate, when the game has no high-polling support, or when you want a stable baseline for troubleshooting. It also makes comparisons between DPI changes easier because only one variable has changed.

Use 4K or 8K only after checking compatibility

PRO 4K/8KHz mice list up to 4000 Hz in wireless mode and 8000 Hz in wired mode. Glorious advises checking the game’s maximum supported polling rate and adjusting the mouse through CORE accordingly. If the game supports only a lower rate, select that supported value rather than forcing the mouse to its maximum.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For 8000 Hz operation, Glorious recommends disabling Motion Sync to achieve consistent 8K polling. This instruction applies to the high-polling PRO guide; it is not a reason to disable Motion Sync on every Glorious mouse.

Symptoms that call for a lower rate

  • The game stutters or frame-time consistency worsens after switching from 1000 Hz.
  • The game ignores the selected rate or behaves inconsistently because its input path has a lower maximum.
  • Cursor movement becomes erratic when the system is already heavily loaded.
  • Battery life becomes an unacceptable trade-off on a wireless model.

Return to 1000 Hz, retest, and then increase only as far as the game and system remain stable. There is no independent performance statistic in the manufacturer guides establishing a universal competitive advantage for 4K or 8K.

3. Tune lift-off distance (LOD) for your pad and lifting style

Lift-off distance is the height at which the sensor stops tracking when you raise the mouse. A lower LOD can prevent the cursor from moving while you reposition the mouse, which is useful for players who frequently lift during low-sensitivity play. It can also be less forgiving if a particular surface or angle makes tracking stop too early.

Start with the model’s documented range

Model O 2 Wired, Model O 2 Mini Wired, PRO 1KHz, PRO 4K/8KHz, and Model O 2 Wireless guides list a 1 mm default, with 1–2 mm adjustment where a range is specified. First-generation Model O/O- Wired mice are different: their documented default is 2 mm and the adjustment range is 2–3 mm.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Test LOD without changing other variables

  1. Keep DPI, in-game sensitivity, and polling rate at your current values.
  2. Open the mouse’s LOD control in its supported software and select the lowest documented value.
  3. Move the mouse normally, then lift it just enough to reposition. Watch for unwanted cursor movement and for tracking stopping before you expect it.
  4. If tracking cuts out during ordinary repositioning, raise LOD one step. If the cursor moves while the mouse is clearly off the pad, lower it again if the surface tracks reliably.
  5. Save the setting and verify it in the game, not only on the desktop.

Low LOD is a behavior preference. Glorious describes it as helpful for reducing unwanted movement while lifting, but the guides do not establish one ideal value for every pad, grip, or player.

4. Adjust debounce time cautiously

Debounce time is the delay used to distinguish an intentional click from rapid electrical or switch chatter. A lower value can make click recognition more immediate, but it also leaves less filtering margin. The available range and factory value vary significantly by model.

Know your model’s debounce range

Model Factory debounce Documented adjustment
Model O 2 Wired 10 ms 0–16 ms
Model O 2 Mini Wired 2 ms 0–16 ms
PRO 1KHz 10 ms 4–16 ms
PRO 4K/8KHz 10 ms 4–16 ms
First-generation Model O/O- Wired 10 ms 4–16 ms

Because the O 2 Mini Wired starts at 2 ms while the standard O 2 Wired starts at 10 ms, copying a setting between those mice is not a sound shortcut.

Lower it only when you have a reason

  1. Record the current value so you can restore it.
  2. Reduce debounce by one small step in the supported software.
  3. Save the configuration and test repeated single clicks, drag operations, and rapid inputs in a low-stakes environment.
  4. Raise the value again if you see double-clicks, accidental activations, or inconsistent click registration.

Glorious also notes in its CORE tips that PRO optical switches can activate when a mouse is lifted or dropped quickly. Its advanced debounce protection is specific to Model O 2 PRO and Model D 2 PRO, so do not assume that feature exists on a standard O 2, a first-generation Model O, or every wireless variant.

A repeatable CORE setup procedure

Use this order whenever you configure a supported mouse. The labels can vary with the model and software version, so choose only controls that the connected device exposes.

  1. Identify the generation: Confirm whether the mouse is Model O 2, PRO, first-generation Model O/O-, Mini, or Wireless.
  2. Install the correct utility: Use CORE for compatible generations. Use Model O Wired software for first-generation Model O/O- Wired mice.
  3. Connect in the intended mode: Wired and wireless editions can have different polling limits and battery implications.
  4. Set DPI first: Pick a documented level and leave game sensitivity unchanged while evaluating it.
  5. Set polling second: Keep 1000 Hz unless the game supports a higher rate. For 4K/8K hardware, follow the game’s maximum and the PRO guide’s Motion Sync instruction for 8K.
  6. Set LOD third: Test the lowest reliable height on your actual mouse pad.
  7. Set debounce last: Make small changes only, and restore the previous value if click behavior becomes unreliable.
  8. Save and verify: Use the software’s save control, restart the game, and confirm that movement, lifting, and clicks behave as expected.

Changing one setting at a time gives you a clear cause when something feels worse. It also makes it easier to return to a known-good configuration.

Fast fixes for common problems

The cursor moves when I lift the mouse

Lower LOD within your model’s documented range. If the sensor stops tracking during normal repositioning, return one step higher and check the mouse pad for uneven texture or contamination.

Clicks are registering twice

Increase debounce time rather than reducing it. The correct recovery range depends on the model: an O 2 Wired can be adjusted within 0–16 ms, while PRO and first-generation wired models document 4–16 ms.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The game feels unstable after selecting 4K or 8K

Check the game’s maximum supported polling rate, select that rate in CORE, and test again. For 8K wired use on a compatible PRO mouse, disable Motion Sync as Glorious recommends. If instability remains, return to 1000 Hz.

CORE does not detect my first-generation Model O

That generation is not CORE-compatible. Install Model O Wired software and use the settings and ranges documented for the first-generation mouse.

My wireless mouse behaves differently from the wired guide

Use the Model O 2 Wireless documentation for its debounce variant and wireless behavior. Do not assume that a wired polling limit, battery behavior, or debounce default transfers to the wireless model.

A practical starting configuration

For a Model O 2 Wired with no established preference, leave the documented 1600 DPI, 1000 Hz polling, 1 mm LOD, and 10 ms debounce in place. Change DPI only if your hand movement or game sensitivity makes aiming uncomfortable. Change polling only after confirming game support. Try LOD changes when lifting causes cursor drift, and adjust debounce only when click behavior gives you a specific reason to do so.

For any other Glorious mouse, use its own row in the specification table as the baseline. The manufacturer documentation establishes defaults and limits, not a universal “best Glorious setting.” Your surface, grip, game sensitivity, switch type, operating system load, and wired or wireless mode all affect which saved configuration feels reliable.
