The best flip phone case for a OnePlus device is the one made for its exact model. “Flip case” can mean a hinged folio for a conventional phone, such as the OnePlus 5 Flip Cover, or a fitted shell for a foldable, such as the OnePlus Open Protective Set. Those designs are not interchangeable.
Use the model name shown in Settings → About device, then match the case listing, display coverage, materials and region before buying. The official examples below are model-specific; they do not establish a universal OnePlus flip case or a complete current catalog.
What “flip phone case” means for OnePlus
OnePlus uses different designs for different phone types. A traditional flip cover has a hinge and a front flap that folds over a single slab-style display. The OnePlus 5 Flip Cover is this type of accessory. It is a folio-style cover for the OnePlus 5, not a case for a newer OnePlus phone simply because the handset has a similar screen size.
A foldable-phone case is different. The OnePlus Open Protective Set is a fitted protective shell for the two-panel OnePlus Open. Its stand is designed for portrait or landscape viewing, and the included tempered-glass film is for the secondary display. It is not a hinged folio and it is not a universal protector for every OnePlus screen.

That distinction matters because camera openings, hinge clearances, button positions, wireless-coil locations and display dimensions vary by model. A case that physically snaps onto a phone can still obstruct a camera, press a button continuously or leave an edge exposed. Treat the exact model and regional version as mandatory compatibility information.

OnePlus describes this set as a case made from polycarbonate (PC), polyurethane (PU) and aluminum alloy, paired with tempered glass for the secondary display. The case is specified for OnePlus Open. Its built-in stand can hold the phone in portrait or landscape orientation, which is useful for video calls, reading or watching content without holding the device.
Which screens are protected
The included glass film covers only the external, secondary display. The product page explicitly warns that the film may not fit other protective cases because dimensions differ. Do not install it on the large inner folding display, and do not assume it protects that panel. If you use a separate protector, verify that it is designed for the inner screen and for the exact OnePlus Open generation.

How to fit it
- Remove dust, grit and any old case from the phone. Small particles under a fitted frame can create pressure points.
- Check that the case halves, adhesive areas and cutouts are labeled for OnePlus Open before pressing them into place.
- Install the secondary-screen glass film only on the external display. Align the earpiece, camera and edge boundaries rather than centering by eye.
- Close and open the phone slowly several times. Confirm that the hinge area moves freely and that the case does not rub the folding mechanism.
- Test the stand in both orientations on a stable surface. Stop using the case if the phone rocks, the stand will not latch or a button is held down.
Actual products can vary from product images, and the manufacturer notes that performance may decline with increased use. Inspect the stand, adhesive and edges periodically rather than treating the accessory as permanently unchanged.
OnePlus 5 Flip Cover: the traditional folio
Specifications
The Canadian OnePlus page identifies the OnePlus 5 Flip Cover as PU plus PC, available in black or gray and weighing 52 g. Compatibility is stated for OnePlus 5 only. This is legacy product documentation, so it confirms the design and model but not current inventory.

OnePlus describes the interaction this way: “Open the cover and your OnePlus 5 wakes for quick access to your homescreen and notifications.” Closing the cover locks the screen. The behavior depends on the phone and cover sensors being aligned; it should not be assumed on another OnePlus generation or with a generic folio.
What the folio does not establish
The page does not provide a drop-test score, water-resistance rating, hinge-life figure or independent durability result. The 52 g weight is the documented accessory weight, not a measure of protection. A folio can shield the front glass from contact in a bag, but it does not prove protection against every corner impact or a fall onto an exposed edge.
Choose by the model printed in your phone
Before looking at colors or materials, identify the complete model name. OnePlus sells phones with similar names and regional variants, while camera modules and dimensions can differ between generations.

- Open Settings → About device and copy the model name and, where shown, the regional model number.
- Compare that text with the accessory’s compatibility line. “OnePlus Open” and “OnePlus 5” are separate requirements, not interchangeable descriptions.
- Check whether the listing names a carrier, region or storage variant that changes the chassis. If the seller lists only “OnePlus,” treat compatibility as unverified.
- Compare photographs of the camera cutout, ports, alert slider, volume keys and hinge area with your handset.
- Review the seller’s return policy before opening adhesive-backed packaging, especially when the product is older or marked as limited stock.
If your model is not explicitly listed, the safest result is “not established,” not a guess based on screen size. A generic case may fit physically while failing to protect the camera or allowing debris into a hinge.
Display coverage and screen-film decisions
Case coverage and screen protection are separate decisions. A folio flap places a layer over the front of a slab phone when closed; it does not automatically provide a certified screen protector. For the OnePlus Open set, the supplied tempered glass is limited to the secondary display. Never apply a rigid glass product intended for a flat outer display to the flexible inner screen unless OnePlus specifically identifies it for that surface. For older phones such as OnePlus 5, authorized accessory retailers may be the only practical source, but verify that the seller names the exact model and offers returns. Do not substitute a case for OnePlus 5T, another numbered generation or a Nord model unless the listing explicitly confirms compatibility.

Installation and first-day checks
For a folio cover
- Clean the phone and inspect the case for warped edges or debris.
- Seat the phone into the frame from the side opposite the buttons, then press evenly around the perimeter.

Cases versus OnePlus protection services
OnePlus lists a separate US Protection Service. A service plan is not a property of a case and does not change whether an accessory fits. What to do when compatibility is unclear
The listing says only “OnePlus”
Do not order until the seller supplies the exact model. Ask for a model number or a clear compatibility list. Screen size alone is insufficient.
The case is for a similar foldable
Reject it unless the listing explicitly names OnePlus Open. Foldable hinge geometry and camera placement leave little tolerance for a near match.
The film lifts after changing cases
Remove the incompatible case, clean the edge and inspect the film. If the dimensions conflict, use the film specified for the replacement case or follow OnePlus guidance rather than trimming tempered glass.
The official page is live but checkout fails
