Most Fitbit tracking remains free. The paid tier—renamed Google Health Premium on May 19, 2026—mainly adds personalized coaching, selected trend-based insights and premium workout, sleep and wellness content. Daily Readiness is now available to every Fitbit user, not just subscribers.
What the paid tier is called now
Google changed the name of Fitbit Premium to Google Health Premium on May 19, 2026. The new name appears in current Google Health app materials, while some older Fitbit help pages and account documentation still use “Fitbit Premium.” They refer to the same paid-service transition, not two separate subscriptions.
The exact feature set shown to you can depend on your Google account, the app version, your Fitbit or Pixel Watch model, your age, your country and the language selected on your device. Treat the labels in your current app as the final availability check, especially when an older help page says a feature is Premium-only.

Google’s current feature map and account-data documentation identify the following areas as paid or premium-marked. “Premium” here means the feature, interpretation or content is associated with the subscription; it does not mean every underlying sensor reading disappears without it.
#1 Best Overall
- COMPLETE ALL-IN-ONE-BUNDLE: Includes Fitbit Charge 6 Black/Obsidian, rapid USB charger, and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth, – everything you need to start tracking in style.
| Feature or data area | Subscription status | What the paid access adds | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personalized Google Health Coach | Premium | Personalized fitness plans and targets, daily workout recommendations, coaching messages, post-workout feedback and sleep guidance. | Available only to adults with a Fitbit or Pixel Watch in supported countries; device, language and account eligibility apply. |
| Sleep trend summaries | Premium-marked | Longer-term interpretation of sleep patterns rather than only a recent-night view. | The feature map separates these summaries from basic sleep details. |
| Sleep Profile and sleep-score breakdown | Premium service data | Additional interpretation and detail associated with Fitbit’s sleep analysis. | Do not interpret this as meaning that all sleep measurements require Premium. |
| Stress-management score breakdown | Premium service data | A deeper explanation of the stress-management result. | Availability can vary by device and account. |
| Workout plans, saved workout or video libraries and some guided content | Premium-marked | Structured plans and selected on-demand or guided exercise material. | Not every workout-related screen is paid; the app’s Premium label identifies the restricted items. |
| Selected sleep and wellness content | Premium-marked | Additional educational or guided content in sleep and wellness categories. | Google does not state that every wellness article or every sleep screen is restricted. |
| Snoring and sound-event information | Premium service feature | Access to the corresponding sound-event information where supported. | Support is not promised on every Fitbit or Pixel Watch device. |
Personalized Google Health Coach
The clearest reason to pay is the Google Health Coach. It is not simply a dashboard of numbers. It uses eligible Fitbit or Pixel Watch data to provide an individualized training and wellness experience.
What coaching includes
- Fitness plans tailored to the user.
- Targets that are personalized rather than just the device’s standard goals.
- Daily workout recommendations.
- Messages from the coach and feedback after a workout.
- Sleep guidance connected to the broader coaching experience.
Readiness can inform coaching recommendations, but that does not make the readiness score itself a paid feature. Google explicitly says Daily Readiness is available to everyone who uses Fitbit.
Eligibility limits
Google describes Health Coach as an adults-only service: the account holder must be over 18 and have a Fitbit or Pixel Watch device. It is offered only in specified countries, and Google warns that language, device and country can change feature availability. A subscription by itself therefore does not guarantee that the coach will appear on every account.

Sleep features: what is free and what is paid
Sleep is where the distinction between a measurement and an interpretation matters most. Fitbit can show basic information from a recent night without requiring the paid tier, while selected summaries and analyses are premium-marked.
Rank #2
- COMPLETE ALL-IN-ONE-BUNDLE: Includes Fitbit Charge 6 Black/Obsidian, rapid USB charger, and a premium microfiber cleaning cloth, – everything you need to start tracking in style.
Basic sleep information outside Premium
The current feature map places last night’s sleep details outside the premium-marked list. Depending on the device and app, that means a user can still review the ordinary recent-night information the tracker supports without subscribing. Exact sleep fields are device-dependent, so the presence of one metric on one model does not establish universal support.
Sleep insights associated with Premium
- Sleep trend summaries that interpret patterns over time.
- Sleep Profile information listed as Premium service data.
- Sleep-score breakdown information listed as Premium service data.
- Selected sleep guidance and wellness content.
This split is why the statement “sleep requires Premium” is inaccurate. The more precise answer is that basic sleep details can remain available, while some longitudinal interpretation, score explanation and content are reserved for the paid service.
Stress insights and sound-event information
Stress-management score breakdown
Google’s account-data documentation includes the stress-management score breakdown in its Premium service data list. A subscriber may therefore see an explanation beneath a stress result that a non-subscriber does not. The documentation does not establish that every stress-related measurement or the entire stress feature is unavailable without payment, so avoid treating the breakdown as a blanket restriction on stress tracking.
Snoring and other sound events
Snoring and sound-event information is also listed as a Premium service feature. The qualification is important: Google does not promise this function on every device. Hardware, microphone support, permissions and regional availability can affect whether the option appears, even for an eligible subscriber.

Features that do not simply require Premium
Daily Readiness
Daily Readiness is available to all Fitbit users under Google’s current guidance. Older descriptions that call it a Premium-only score are stale. A paid coaching plan may use readiness to adjust recommendations, but the score itself is not restricted to subscribers.
Google’s readiness guidance lists Fitbit Charge 6 among compatible devices, although compatibility is not a requirement to buy a subscription and does not imply that every Fitbit model exposes identical readiness details.
Everyday activity tracking
The current feature map keeps routine activity measures in the core feature set. Examples include:
- Steps.
- Distance.
- Floors.
- Hourly activity.
- Several key fitness metrics.
- Supported recent activity summaries.
These are the measurements most people expect from a Fitbit tracker, and the feature map does not mark them as Premium-only. Individual fields still depend on the tracker, phone permissions and app context.

Basic metrics versus interpretation
The practical dividing line is often visibility versus interpretation. A free account can continue to collect and display core measurements, while Premium adds coaching, trend summaries, score breakdowns or curated content that explain what those measurements may mean. This is not an absolute rule for every screen, but it is a more accurate model than assuming all advanced health data is locked.
Why two users may see different Premium labels
Google identifies several variables that can change what appears in the app:
- Country: Paid coaching and other services are limited to supported markets.
- Age: Google Health Coach requires an adult account holder over 18.
- Device: A Fitbit tracker and a Pixel Watch do not expose exactly the same sensors or features.
- Language: Some coaching or content experiences may not be offered in every language.
- Account and app context: The redesigned Google Health app may show current labels while an older Fitbit account page retains the former name.
Consequently, a feature shown as Premium in one person’s account can be absent, renamed or unsupported in another person’s account. That difference does not necessarily indicate a billing problem.
How to check your own account before subscribing
Because Google can change eligibility and feature packaging, use this checklist rather than relying on a screenshot or an old article:
Best Value
- Fitbit Charge 6 tracks key metrics from calories and Active Zone Minutes to Daily Readiness and sleep; move more with 40+ exercise modes, built-in GPS, all-day activity tracking, 24/7 heart rate, automatic exercising tracking, and more[1]
- See your heart rate in real time: Just link your Charge 6 to compatible exercise machines, like treadmills, ellipticals, and more[2]; and stay connected with YouTube Music controls[3]

- Open the current Google Health or Fitbit app associated with your tracker or Pixel Watch.
- Look for the feature’s own label. A Premium or Google Health Premium badge is more relevant than a generic reference to “advanced” data.
- Open the feature details and read the eligibility note for your device, country and language.
- Check whether the screen is showing a basic measurement, a trend summary, a score breakdown or coaching content. Those categories can have different access rules.
- Review the account or subscription page to confirm that the offer applies to your Google account and that any trial or renewal terms are shown before payment.
- If a feature is missing, update the app, verify that the tracker is paired and syncing, and check Google’s current help information for your country before assuming a subscription will enable it.
Do not buy a subscription solely to obtain Daily Readiness: Google says that score is available to all Fitbit users. Subscribe for the coaching or premium-marked insights you actually intend to use.
When Google Health Premium is likely to be worthwhile
It may fit you if you want guided decisions
The subscription is most relevant if you want a plan rather than a data log: scheduled targets, daily recommendations, coaching messages, post-workout feedback and sleep guidance. It can also make sense if you regularly use longer-term sleep summaries, score breakdowns, premium workout libraries or selected wellness content.
It may add little if you only need tracking
If your priorities are steps, distance, floors, hourly movement, basic fitness metrics, recent-night sleep details and Daily Readiness, the core Fitbit experience covers those areas without relying on Premium. You may still see optional paid prompts in the app, but the underlying everyday tracking is not presented as subscription-only.

A subscription cannot overcome an unsupported device, an ineligible country, a non-adult account or an unavailable language. Confirm that the specific coach, sleep analysis or sound-event function is offered to your account before treating it as part of the package.
Common misunderstandings to avoid
- “Daily Readiness is Premium.” This was true in older descriptions but is not Google’s current position; the score is now available to all Fitbit users.
- “All sleep data is locked.” Basic recent-night details are listed separately from premium trend summaries and content.
- “Every wellness metric is paid.” Google identifies selected breakdowns and content, not every wellness measurement.
- “A Premium subscription guarantees the coach.” Health Coach has adult, device, country and language limits.
- “Fitbit Premium and Google Health Premium are unrelated plans.” The name changed on May 19, 2026; older documentation may simply have not been updated.
Bottom line for Fitbit owners
Paying for Google Health Premium primarily buys personalized coaching and selected deeper interpretation or content—not the basic act of recording activity. The paid areas include Health Coach plans and recommendations, premium sleep trends and breakdowns, stress-score breakdowns, selected workout and wellness content, and supported snoring or sound-event information. Steps, routine activity metrics, basic recent-night sleep details and Daily Readiness remain available in the core experience, subject to device and app differences.
