Only one currently documented true wireless model in the sources reviewed clearly lets owners replace the batteries in both earbuds: Fairphone Fairbuds. The evidence does not support a list of seven. Fairbuds 2 has been reported as a successor scheduled for October 14, 2026, but it is still upcoming as of October 11.
Why this is not a seven-model list
“Replaceable batteries” can mean different things: a battery in the charging case may be replaceable while the tiny batteries in the earbuds are sealed in place. For this answer, a qualifying model must have documented user replacement of the batteries inside the earbuds themselves.
Fairphone’s current Fairbuds product information documents replacement of both earbud batteries and the charging-case battery. The reviewed evidence does not establish seven currently available models meeting that test, so adding unrelated repairable headphones, case-only battery products, or unverified models would be misleading. Fairphone says the new Fairbuds replaced its earlier, non-repairable off-the-shelf true wireless design; the evidence does not establish that the 2021 Fairphone TWS earbuds qualify. Fairbuds XL is an over-ear headphone, not a true wireless earbud model, and Fairphone’s battery kit is not compatible with it.

Fairphone describes seven replaceable parts, but that is a parts count for one product, not seven earbud models. The listed parts include the left and right earbuds, earbud batteries and silicone rings, ear tips, the charging-case outer shell, the case core, and the case battery. The product page documents user replacement of the batteries in both earbuds and in the case.

Fairphone specifies a 45 mAh battery in each earbud and a 500 mAh battery in the case. Its stated playback and call figures are up to 5 hours with ANC on, up to 6 hours with ANC off, and up to 26 hours total with the case. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
How the battery replacement works
Earbud batteries
Fairphone’s repair guide says to remove the silicone ring and open the battery tray with a fingernail or prying tool. Match the polarity markings when fitting the replacement, keep the battery and your hands clean, and do not force the battery into place. The tray does not open fully, so handle it carefully. Refit the silicone ring carefully: Fairphone says it helps maintain rain and sweat protection. Recycle the old battery locally.

Charging-case battery
The case repair uses a standard Philips screwdriver: remove the screw, take the core out of the shell, and replace the battery. Fairphone also describes replacing the case shell and core separately. Its guide’s statement, “All you need is a standard Philips screwdriver,” applies to the repair instructions generally; the earbud tray itself can be opened with a fingernail or optional prying tool.

Replacement parts, cost, and compatibility
Fairphone’s official earbud battery kit page lists two batteries and two silicone rings, in black and white, and names Fairbuds as the compatible model. The European shop page displayed €9.95 when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a time- and region-specific price; check current regional stock, shipping, and price before ordering. It is not listed as compatible with Fairbuds XL.

Fairphone says a replacement single earbud can be ordered through its shop if one is lost, and its repair guidance includes a reset and pairing process. Check the manufacturer’s current instructions for your model before pairing a replacement.
What to know before buying
- Water resistance: Fairphone lists IP54 for the earbuds and no IP rating for the case. The company says the earbuds are sweat- and weather-resistant, but not completely waterproof.
- Battery-life claim: Fairphone’s April 9, 2024 explainer says the batteries exceed 500 charge cycles before reaching 80% remaining capacity. It describes controlled playback at 50% volume with a 1 kHz sine wave and estimates up to 2,700 listening hours to that endpoint. These are the manufacturer’s test conditions and estimate, not an independent reliability result.
- Compatibility: Fairphone says the earbuds work with Bluetooth devices; its FAQ separately names Fairphone 3, 3+, 4, and 5.
- Warranty: Fairphone lists a standard two-year warranty and one additional year for owners who register online. Confirm the terms that apply in your country.
What about Fairbuds 2?
Android Central reported on September 29, 2026, that Fairbuds 2 was scheduled to launch on October 14, with Europe first and the US following. The report described seven replaceable components, including batteries, and reported launch prices of €119 in Europe and $119 in the US. On October 11, those are reported future details, not confirmation of availability or final official specifications. Check Fairphone’s product information after the reported launch before treating Fairbuds 2 as a currently purchasable option.

How EU battery rules fit in
The European Commission’s July 14, 2026 notice says portable batteries in products sold in the EU generally must be removable and replaceable by consumers under the Batteries Regulation, while also describing additional exemptions. The notice says its delegated act was transmitted to Parliament and Council for scrutiny and would enter into force 20 days after publication in the Official Journal if neither objected. That notice does not establish that the additional act was already in force on October 11, nor that the regulation caused Fairbuds’ design. How to assess other claims of replaceable-battery earbuds
When a product is described as repairable, check the exact repair claim rather than relying on the label. The key distinction is whether the batteries inside each earbud can be replaced by the owner, not merely whether the case battery or other parts can be serviced. Also verify that compatible replacement batteries are actually sold, whether the repair requires tools, and whether the maker gives a clear procedure. For runtime, water resistance, warranty, and availability, use the current regional product and parts information; do not treat a manufacturer’s figures as independent testing.
