The list of “classic titles” needed to answer this question is missing, so there is no reliable way to say which film or game came first for each work. The comparison depends on the specific titles and on documented release dates, territories, and formats.
Why the titles are needed
A work appearing as both a film and a video game does not establish which medium introduced it. For each named title, the earliest public release of the film must be compared with the earliest public release of the corresponding game. Without the list, a title-by-title verdict would require guessing.
How to make a fair comparison
Release dates can differ by territory and format, so a useful comparison should identify which release counts: for example, a theatrical premiere versus a game’s first public release, rather than a later home-video or regional launch. It should also distinguish an adaptation or film tie-in from a separate work that happens to share the same title. The dates should be supported by records from studios, distributors, publishers, catalogs, or archives.
Why “same year” may not settle it
Film and game tie-ins could arrive close together. A 1994 Billboard report said the three game versions of The Pagemaster were expected in stores within one week of the film’s November 23 theatrical premiere. That example shows why year-only comparisons can be too imprecise to determine which medium came first: Billboard, October 22, 1994.

What this comparison does not answer
This is a question about the release history of particular titles, not about identifying the first video game in history. The history of the medium has no universally agreed single starting point; Steven Malliet and Gust de Meyer caution that 1962 is often cited, but that video games did not simply begin then. Their discussion is available in “The History of the Video Game”.

No title-specific answer can be established until the referenced list is available. Once it is, compare each film and game’s earliest documented public release, state the territory and format, and note whether the game adapts the film or is a separate work with a shared name.
