No Chrysler Pacifica trim can be established as the overall resale-value winner from the available evidence. iSeeCars shows tied five-year depreciation rates in several gas-trim pairings and a separate tie for two hybrid trims, while Edmunds provides dollar appraisals rather than a complete, matched percentage-retention ranking. Your best choice depends on model year, powertrain, drivetrain, mileage, condition, options, purchase price, location and whether you sell privately or trade in.

What “holds its value” means for a Pacifica

Resale value is not one number. A vehicle can bring the highest cheque at sale because it was expensive when new, yet retain a smaller share of its original price than a cheaper trim. To answer the trim question correctly, separate three measurements:

  • Dollar depreciation: the difference between the new-vehicle benchmark and today’s estimated value.
  • Percentage retained: current value divided by the original MSRP, expressed as a percentage.
  • Net ownership result: current proceeds compared with what you actually paid, after considering discounts, incentives, taxes, financing and selling costs.

Valuation type also changes the result. A trade-in estimate is normally lower than a private-party estimate because the dealer must recondition and resell the vehicle. Dealer-retail pricing reflects what a retailer may ask from a buyer, not what an owner receives. Compare the same transaction type before deciding that one trim performs better.

A fair trim comparison also requires the same model year, engine or hybrid system, front- or all-wheel drive, equipment, mileage, condition, accident history, valuation date and geographic market. Mixing those variables can make a trim look stronger when the difference actually comes from age or configuration.

What the published figures actually show

The following figures are useful reference points, but they do not form a single all-trim leaderboard.

Source and measure Vehicle scope Published result How to interpret it
iSeeCars model depreciation estimate, accessed 2026 New Chrysler Pacifica, model-wide 50.8% depreciation after five years; $20,429 residual value A baseline for the model, not a trim-specific ranking
iSeeCars model depreciation estimate, accessed 2026 New Chrysler Pacifica, model-wide 37.8% after three years; 61.9% after seven; 69.3% after ten Shows how the holding period changes the result; it does not identify a trim winner
iSeeCars paired comparison, accessed 2026 Gas Touring versus Touring L 54.7% five-year depreciation for each displayed trim A tie in that comparison, not proof that every year or configuration ties
iSeeCars paired comparison, accessed 2026 Gas Touring L versus Limited 54.7% five-year depreciation for each displayed trim A tie in the displayed pair
iSeeCars paired comparison, accessed 2026 Gas Limited versus Pinnacle 54.7% five-year depreciation for each displayed trim A tie in the displayed pair
iSeeCars paired comparison, accessed 2026 Pacifica Hybrid Touring L versus Hybrid Limited 55.2% five-year depreciation for each displayed trim Keep this hybrid comparison separate from gas trims
Kelley Blue Book, 2026 resale-award context Average 2026 model-year vehicle across the industry About 45% of original value expected after five years Industry context, not a Pacifica trim estimate
Kelley Blue Book, 2026 Pacifica Pinnacle cost-to-own estimate 2026 Pacifica Pinnacle $35,449 five-year depreciation and $22,641 residual value Trim- and model-year-specific; assumptions must match any comparison

The paired iSeeCars pages are the strongest direct evidence about relative trim performance in the reviewed material, and they show no separation in the displayed five-year rates. Because they cover selected pairs rather than every same-year, same-condition, same-mileage configuration, they cannot establish a universal order from Touring through Pinnacle.

Gas trims: why the apparent ties matter

For the gas Pacifica, iSeeCars reports the same displayed five-year depreciation rate for three adjacent comparisons: Touring with Touring L, Touring L with Limited, and Limited with Pinnacle. That pattern means the public estimates do not support saying that Touring L, Limited or Pinnacle consistently beats the others on percentage retention.

It does not mean the trims are identical in every real transaction. A particular Pinnacle may sell for more dollars than a Touring because its original price and equipment are higher. A heavily discounted Limited may also produce a better return on the buyer’s actual cash outlay than a full-price lower trim. Those are purchase-price and transaction effects, not evidence of a permanent trim advantage.

The comparisons also do not settle questions about every generation, every model year, front-wheel drive versus all-wheel drive, option package, regional demand or mileage band. Treat the ties as a warning against a simple hierarchy, not as a guarantee for your individual van.

Hybrid trims must be evaluated separately

iSeeCars reports a 55.2% five-year depreciation figure for both the Pacifica Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited in its displayed comparison. That is a matched result within the hybrid pair, but it should not be blended with the gas-van figures to create one ranking.

Gas and plug-in-hybrid vehicles have different powertrains, equipment mixes, buyer pools and market conditions. A hybrid appraisal should therefore use another hybrid with the same model year, mileage, condition and drivetrain as its comparator. Applying a gas-trim percentage to a hybrid, or the reverse, creates a false precision the data do not support.

Why a higher appraisal does not prove better retention

Edmunds’ 2025 appraisal page illustrates the problem with comparing dollar values alone. Its displayed clean-condition estimates include the following gas configurations:

  • Black Chrysler 300 C Hemi 2006 Hot Wheels First Edition Series 1:64 Scale Collectible Die Cast Car Model #004
2025 configuration Trade-in estimate Private-party estimate
Select FWD $27,500 $29,449
Pinnacle FWD $38,170 $39,837
Pinnacle AWD $42,071 $43,124

These figures are point-in-time estimates under Edmunds’ page assumptions. The Pinnacle amounts are higher in dollars, but the trim also started at a higher price and the AWD configuration differs from FWD. Without each vehicle’s matching MSRP, purchase price, age, mileage, condition and valuation channel, the table cannot tell you which one retained the largest percentage.

Edmunds identifies age, mileage, condition, trim and installed options as value factors. Its appraisal categories also distinguish trade-in, private-party and dealer-retail results. Use those categories for their intended purpose rather than treating one number as the Pacifica’s universal resale price.

How to calculate value retention for your own Pacifica

A personal calculation is more useful than a generic trim label because it controls the variables that make appraisals diverge.

  1. Record the exact identity. Write down model year, gas or hybrid powertrain, FWD or AWD, trim, factory options, dealer-installed equipment, odometer reading and vehicle identification number. Do not compare a hybrid Touring L with a gas Touring L as if the names alone made them equivalent.
  2. Document condition and history. Note tire and brake wear, interior damage, paint condition, service records, title status, accident or flood history and the number of keys. Appraisal systems can move materially when condition or history changes.
  3. Choose one valuation channel. If you are deciding whether to trade, use trade-in figures. If you plan to sell directly, use private-party figures. Dealer-retail listings describe a buyer’s price and should not be substituted for your expected proceeds.
  4. Use the same date and market. Enter your ZIP code or region where the appraisal service requests it and compare estimates gathered close together in time. Inventory and seasonal demand can change local offers.
  5. Capture the original benchmark. For a percentage-of-MSRP calculation, use the original MSRP for the same configuration. For a personal investment calculation, also record the negotiated purchase price after discounts and incentives. Keep MSRP and transaction price in separate columns.
  6. Compute both percentages. MSRP retention is current value ÷ original MSRP × 100. Paid-price retention is current value ÷ your actual purchase price × 100. Depreciation is 100 minus the corresponding retention percentage.
  7. Compare like with like. Run the same process for another Pacifica only when its model year, powertrain, drivetrain, mileage, condition, options, history and valuation type are close enough to be meaningful.
  8. Check multiple channels before acting. A single automated estimate is a starting point. Obtain a firm trade offer if trading, and compare several genuine private-party or dealer-retail examples if selling yourself. Label each number by channel so a retail asking price is not mistaken for an owner’s net proceeds.

This approach can reveal why a higher trim sometimes wins for a specific owner: a large purchase discount may improve paid-price retention even when the trim does not have a better MSRP-based depreciation rate.

Which trim should a value-conscious buyer choose?

Because the evidence does not establish a lasting percentage advantage, choose equipment and price using a risk-managed process rather than assuming the top or bottom trim will win.

Your priority Practical approach What not to infer
Lowest amount at risk Compare the lower-priced gas trims using the same drivetrain and seek the strongest documented discount. Calculate retention against both MSRP and the price you will actually pay. Do not assume the least expensive trim automatically depreciates the least.
More equipment without a luxury-trim premium Price Touring L and Limited against equivalent used examples, then test whether the added equipment is reflected in local offers. Do not treat a higher appraisal in dollars as proof of a higher retention rate.
Maximum features Buy Limited or Pinnacle for features you will use, but quantify the extra upfront cost and compare same-condition used examples. Do not claim Pinnacle is the resale winner solely because its appraisal dollars are higher.
Plug-in-hybrid operation Compare Hybrid Touring L with Hybrid Limited using hybrid-only, same-year and same-condition data. Do not apply gas-trim depreciation figures to a hybrid.
All-wheel-drive requirement Compare AWD with AWD and include the option’s original cost, mileage and local demand in the calculation. Do not compare an AWD appraisal directly with an otherwise identical FWD appraisal and call the difference a trim effect.

A discounted higher trim can be rational when its added equipment matters to you and the price gap is small. A lower trim can be rational when the discount is larger or when you want less capital tied up in the vehicle. Neither conclusion requires claiming that the trim itself has a universally superior resale curve.

Holding period changes the answer

iSeeCars’ model-wide estimates show depreciation at three, five, seven and ten years rather than one permanent rate. The relevant question is therefore “Which configuration should I buy for my expected ownership period?” A buyer selling after three years faces a different market from one keeping the van for a decade.

At a shorter holding period, the original transaction price, mileage accumulation and condition at sale can dominate the trim label. Over a longer period, age, service history, wear and the availability of comparable used vehicles become increasingly important. Set a target sale date, estimate annual mileage and use that same horizon for every trim you are considering.

How Kelley Blue Book’s residual figures should be read

Kelley Blue Book says its resale-award residual values are projections produced from analyst-reviewed statistical models built on millions of transactions. The award methodology uses five-year residuals as a percentage of MSRP. Its official 2026 release states: "Residual values reflect projected future auction values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership period."

That sentence describes an award methodology, not a guaranteed used-car price for your Pacifica. The assumptions—average condition, 75,000 miles and a five-year horizon—must match your vehicle before the projection is useful. The separate estimate for a 2026 Pinnacle is likewise a trim- and model-year-specific cost-to-own figure, not evidence that every Pinnacle retains more than every other trim.

Common mistakes that produce a false trim winner

  • Ranking by sale dollars alone: a more expensive trim can return more cash while losing a larger percentage of its original price.
  • Mixing transaction types: trade-in, private-party and dealer-retail figures answer different questions.
  • Ignoring drivetrain: FWD and AWD need separate comparisons.
  • Combining gas and hybrid data: the powertrains should be analyzed in separate pools.
  • Comparing different model years: age and redesign timing can overwhelm a trim difference.
  • Overlooking options and condition: installed equipment, wear, accident history and service documentation affect an individual appraisal.
  • Using a national estimate as a local offer: an automated projection is not a dealer’s firm bid or a signed private-party sale.
  • Confusing MSRP retention with your investment return: a discount at purchase changes your personal economics even if MSRP-based depreciation is unchanged.
  • Assuming a tied estimate is a guarantee: the iSeeCars pairings are selected comparisons, not a promise for every year, market or configuration.

Bottom line for Touring, Touring L, Limited and Pinnacle

The available evidence supports a cautious answer: no gas trim can be named the universal Pacifica resale-value champion, and the hybrid comparison should remain separate. The selected iSeeCars gas pairings display the same five-year depreciation rate, while Edmunds’ appraisal dollars rise with configuration and do not reveal percentage retention without matching original prices and conditions.

For a purchase decision, identify the exact van, calculate both MSRP-based and paid-price retention, compare the same transaction channel, and use local offers to validate the estimate. Pick the trim whose equipment and negotiated price fit your needs; do not pay extra solely on the assumption that Pinnacle, Limited or Touring L is proven to hold value best.
