For Android phones, “seeing in the dark” means either thermal imaging, which shows differences in heat, or infrared night vision, which uses infrared illumination to capture a scene. Neither is an ordinary camera that takes full-color pictures in complete darkness. The available evidence verifies two examples—not five current buying recommendations: the AGM G2 Guardian, whose manufacturer lists both technologies, and the older Cat S62 Pro, whose thermal capability is documented by its makers.
What “see in the dark” means on a phone
Thermal imaging shows heat, not ordinary color
A thermal camera detects emitted heat and renders temperature differences in the scene. Teledyne FLIR describes thermal imaging as visualizing heat energy and says it can work in total darkness. Infrared night vision captures a different kind of image
An infrared night-vision camera uses infrared illumination to capture a scene. It is a separate imaging method from thermal sensing; the AGM G2 Guardian lists one camera of each type. AGM’s G2 Guardian specifications

How to choose a phone for dark-environment imaging
Start with what you need to see. For heat contrasts, look for a dedicated thermal sensor and check its resolution: the G2 Guardian’s listed 256×192 resolution is a specification, not a promise of a particular level of useful detail in every setting. For an infrared-illuminated scene, confirm that the phone has a separate infrared night-vision camera; a thermal camera alone does not provide that function.

- Imaging details: Check sensor resolution, lens, field of view, and whether temperature measurement is supported. A detection-range figure is not the same as the ability to identify fine details.
- Phone suitability: Check Android version and update support, ruggedness, local carrier-band compatibility, regional availability, and current price before buying. Those details are not established comparatively for these two devices here.
- Availability: AGM says its phones can be purchased through its Amazon store, but that does not confirm a live listing in your region or affiliate eligibility. AGM’s Where to Buy page
Why this is not a five-phone buying list
Only the G2 Guardian and Cat S62 Pro have sufficiently authoritative product evidence in the material available for this comparison. The G2 Guardian is documented by AGM as a phone with both thermal imaging and infrared night vision. The Cat S62 Pro’s thermal capability is verified, but its current availability and update status are unresolved. Other model names surfaced without adequate official product verification or current availability evidence, so presenting them as confirmed recommendations would be misleading.
