For self-framing on a budget, the AKASO Brave 7 LE is a conditional pick: it has front and rear screens and records up to 4K at 30 fps, but its body is splash resistant rather than suited to underwater use. Choose the standard Brave 7 if you want a camera rated for underwater use without a housing; consider the Brave 8 Lite for 4K at 60 fps, while keeping its reviewed stabilization and low-light drawbacks in mind.
Which AKASO action camera is best for you?
There is no single winner for every use. The most useful distinction is what you need from the camera: a front screen for framing yourself, body waterproofing without a case, or a higher advertised frame rate. Specifications alone do not establish which camera produces the best-looking footage.

Brave 7 LE: choose it for the front screen, not for underwater use
The Brave 7 LE’s front-facing display makes it easier to check your framing when filming yourself. Have Camera Will Travel lists its maximum video mode as 4K at 30 fps and its still-image resolution as 20 MP. Neither figure, by itself, tells you how its footage will compare with another model in changing light or motion.

AKASO rates the bare Brave 7 LE IPX7, which means splash resistance, not a basis for using the camera bare while swimming or diving. Underwater recording requires the included housing. Have Camera Will Travel reports that the housing is rated for pressure equivalent to 40 m; that housing rating should not be confused with the bare camera’s rating.
Brave 7: prioritize waterproofing without the housing
The standard Brave 7 is a different model from the Brave 7 LE. Have Camera Will Travel lists the Brave 7 as IPX8-rated to 10 m (33 ft) without a housing and gives it a maximum video mode of 4K at 30 fps. It does not have the LE’s front screen, so the choice is a trade-off between body waterproofing and easier self-framing—not simply a newer or better version of the same camera.

Brave 8 Lite: higher frame rate with reviewed trade-offs
Have Camera Will Travel lists the Brave 8 Lite at 4K and 60 fps, compared with 4K and 30 fps for both Brave 7 models. A higher maximum frame rate is a specification, not proof of better overall image quality.

Brave 8: compare its listed features with real availability
Have Camera Will Travel’s 2026 comparison lists the Brave 8 at 4K and 60 fps and 48 MP. AKASO’s store snapshot showed the Brave 8 at $199.99 and out of stock when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a dated listing, not a dependable current price or availability promise.
Battery life depends on how you record
AKASO’s support guide reports 130 minutes for the Brave 8 and 120 minutes each for the Brave 7 LE and V50 X. These are manufacturer estimates measured at 1080p/30 fps, with Wi-Fi off and at room temperature—not guaranteed runtimes for other settings or conditions. AKASO says higher resolution, Wi-Fi, app use, stabilization, and cold conditions can reduce runtime. The V50 X appears in AKASO’s runtime information, but the available comparisons do not establish it as a better all-around choice than the Brave models. Treat its battery figure as a reference under the stated test conditions, not a buying verdict.

Check price, stock, and case needs before buying
Prices and stock can change quickly, and the available listings disagree. AKASO’s US store showed the Brave 7 LE at $149.99 and out of stock when accessed October 7, 2026. An independent comparison revised October 5, 2026 reported $139.99 and in stock. Neither snapshot should be treated as a current offer; verify the live seller listing before purchasing.
