Armed Police Batrider began as an arcade game, and Eighting’s catalog dates that release to January 1, 1998. The only documented official home-device release is its 2022 inclusion on Sega’s Astro City Mini V. M2 has announced a separate ShotTriggers re-release, but the announcement coverage available as of October 13, 2026 names neither a platform nor a launch date. That means there is no confirmed current Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC version to recommend.
The short answer: which versions exist?
Your legitimate options depend on whether you want the original arcade experience or a home device. The version history currently supported by published information is:
| Version or route | What is established | What that means for players |
|---|---|---|
| Original arcade release | Eighting lists the platform as Arcade and gives a catalog release date of January 1, 1998. | This is the original form of the game. Whether a particular operating arcade or event currently has it has not been verified. |
| Sega Astro City Mini V | Reported as a 2022 inclusion and the first official release on a home gaming device. | It is the documented way to play at home today, subject to region, stock and listing checks. |
| M2 ShotTriggers edition | Announced in October 2026. Reported additions include the arcade game, Super Easy adjustments and M2 Gadgets; no platform or release date was announced in the reviewed coverage. | It is a future release announcement, not a currently identified console or storefront purchase. |
Do not interpret the lack of a named platform as evidence that the M2 edition is coming to a particular console. Until M2 publishes those details, platform, region, timing, price and physical-versus-digital format all remain open.

What the arcade release is
Eighting’s official catalog identifies Armed Police Batrider as an arcade title and records January 1, 1998 as its release date. That date is the catalog entry supplied by the developer; it should not be treated as a separately verified regional launch date for every country.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The arcade version is the reference point for the game’s original rules, presentation and controls. An operating venue may use original hardware, a legally emulated setup or a machine that is no longer available to the public; the available documentation does not establish which venues currently have a cabinet. Consequently, “play it in an arcade” is a description of the original release route, not a guarantee that you can walk into a particular location and find one.
How to look for a legitimate cabinet
- Check the venue’s current game list or contact the operator before traveling. Older arcade inventories change, and no current venue list has been verified here.
- Ask specifically for Armed Police Batrider, rather than assuming a venue’s shoot-’em-up section includes every Eighting title.
- Confirm whether the machine is available for public play and whether it is operating on the day you plan to visit.
- If a venue uses a multi-game system, ask whether the game is an authorized part of that installation; the original title’s existence does not by itself validate every copy or setup.
This route is best for players who want the historical arcade format and do not need save states, modern difficulty options or information overlays.
The Astro City Mini V home release
What is documented
A 2026 report identifies Armed Police Batrider as part of Sega’s Astro City Mini V lineup in 2022 and describes that inclusion as the game’s first official release on a home gaming device. This makes the Mini V the clearest documented home-play option in the current release history.

The available information does not verify current stock, a live retailer listing, supported regions, price or whether every market received the same software lineup. Those details can change independently of the game’s 2022 release. Before buying, check the exact product listing, regional compatibility and the stated game list for the unit being sold.

The Mini V should therefore be treated as a documented home device, not as proof that a downloadable version exists for a standard console or computer. No separate digital storefront release is established by the sources used for this article.
Who should choose it
- Choose the Mini V if you want an official home version now and are comfortable verifying availability and region yourself.
- Look for the arcade route if you specifically want the original venue experience and can confirm a legitimate machine is operating.
- Wait for M2’s details if you want a modern re-release with announced accessibility and information features and do not need to play immediately.
What M2 has announced
Announcement status
M2 announced a new Armed Police Batrider release for its ShotTriggers line in October 2026. The report dated October 10, 2026 did not name a platform or release date. As of the information checked on October 13, 2026, there is consequently no confirmed console, PC storefront, region, price or sales format for this edition.
It is accurate to call this an announced re-release. It is not accurate to describe it as currently playable on a named system, available for preorder or scheduled for a particular month.

Announced modes and features
Coverage describes the planned package as including the original arcade mode plus a Super Easy mode. The latter is reported to revise selected enemy and boss attacks individually. That wording matters: it indicates targeted changes to some attacks, not a claim that every part of the game has been simplified or that the mode has been independently tested.

The release is also reported to include M2 Gadgets, information panels designed to expose game data while you play. These are announced interface features, not evidence of a particular overlay layout, display quality or performance result. Additional arranged modes have been described as in development, but their final rules and availability are not settled. Treat them as unfinished plans until M2 provides final specifications.
Why the team system matters when choosing a version
The game’s identity is not only its cabinet-era presentation. Reporting on the announcement describes a team-based shoot ’em up in which players select from 18 aircraft and field a combination for a sortie. The selection button also affects each aircraft’s performance and the type of weapon upgrade it receives.
That means a play session involves two linked decisions: which aircraft make up the team and how the selection input is used. A port or re-release that preserves the arcade rules needs to preserve both relationships. The sources do not establish a universally strongest team, a recommended ordering or a balance ranking, so claims that one lineup is definitively best would go beyond the available evidence.

If you are comparing versions, verify that the description says the original arcade mode is included; that is the only mode explicitly identified for the M2 package at this stage.

How to compare the versions once M2 publishes specifications
When the missing release details appear, use this order instead of choosing on a platform name alone:
- Platform and region: Confirm that the system is one you own, that the release is sold in your region and that the announced date applies to your market.
- Original-mode preservation: Check that the arcade mode is included and whether any optional settings alter its rules.
- Difficulty choices: Determine exactly which attacks Super Easy changes and whether the original difficulty remains selectable without modification.
- Information tools: Review what M2 Gadgets display, whether they can be hidden, and whether they are available during every mode.
- Sales format: Establish whether the product is physical, digital or both, and whether a package or download is required.
- Unfinished content: Separate confirmed launch features from arranged modes or other additions still described as in development.
This checklist avoids a common mistake: treating an announcement’s feature list as a technical comparison. No independently verified latency, emulation accuracy, frame-rate, resolution or input-performance results are available in the material covered here.

“It has a console release.”
The documented home-device appearance is on Astro City Mini V. That is not evidence of a release for every conventional console. The announced M2 edition has no named platform in the reviewed report.

“Super Easy is already available.”
Super Easy is reported as part of M2’s announced package. It is not a feature you can assume exists in the arcade original or the Astro City Mini V version without a product-specific specification.
“Arranged modes are guaranteed.”
Further arranged modes have been described as in development. Their final content is not established, so do not buy on the assumption that every planned mode will ship.
“A listing means the device is officially available everywhere.”
A retailer listing can be region-specific, outdated or incomplete. For Astro City Mini V, verify the current seller, region, included software and shipping restrictions before paying.
Which route is right for you?
| Your priority | Most defensible choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Original arcade context | A confirmed legitimate arcade cabinet | The game was originally released for Arcade in 1998. |
| Official home play now | Astro City Mini V, after checking a current listing | The 2022 device inclusion is the documented home release. |
| Modern assistance and data displays | Wait for M2 platform and date details | Super Easy and M2 Gadgets are announced, but the product is not yet tied to a system. |
| Buying immediately without uncertainty | No fully specified route can be promised | Arcade availability and Mini V stock were not verified, while M2’s commercial details remain unannounced. |
What to watch for in future updates
The next useful announcement should answer five practical questions: Which platforms will receive the M2 edition? When is it launching in each region? What will it cost? Will it be physical, digital or both? Which arranged modes are complete at launch? Until those answers are published, keep the M2 release in the “announced” category.
For the Astro City Mini V route, the important checks are different: whether a unit is currently in stock, which regional model is being sold and whether the seller’s game list explicitly includes Armed Police Batrider. Those checks protect you from confusing a general Astro City Mini V listing with a confirmed copy of the game.
In practical terms, the release map is clear even though some shopping details are not: arcade is the original 1998 format, Astro City Mini V is the documented 2022 home device, and M2’s ShotTriggers version is an announced future option whose platform and timing still need confirmation.
