Samsung Cloud is not necessarily where your pictures are stored now. Check whether the photo is in Samsung Gallery, OneDrive from an earlier Gallery sync, or a Google-linked setup; each has a separate deletion route and recovery bin. Samsung says its US Gallery Sync with OneDrive service ended on September 30, 2026, but photos previously synced remain in OneDrive.
Find where the picture is stored first
Look for the picture in Samsung Gallery and in the cloud app or account you used for syncing. Samsung Gallery’s Recycle bin and OneDrive’s Recycle bin are different places: deleting or restoring an item in one does not mean you are managing the other. If you are unsure which account holds it, check before deleting.

Delete a picture from Samsung Gallery
- Open Gallery on your Galaxy device.
- Select the photo or video you want to remove.
- Tap Delete and confirm moving it to Recycle bin.
To review items in the bin, open Gallery > Menu > Recycle bin. Select an item there to restore it or delete it permanently. Samsung Canada’s support guidance says items in Gallery Recycle bin are kept for 30 days, then automatically permanently deleted; menus and availability can vary by software version and carrier.
Delete a previously synced picture from OneDrive
Samsung’s US support page says Gallery Sync with OneDrive ended on September 30, 2026. Photos and videos already synced remain in the user’s OneDrive account, where they can still be downloaded or deleted.

- Open the OneDrive app and confirm that you are signed in to the account containing the picture.
- Select the photo or photos to remove.
- Tap Delete.
To recover a OneDrive deletion, open OneDrive > Recycle bin, select the picture, and tap Restore. Samsung US gives a 93-day recovery period for deleted OneDrive files. This is OneDrive’s recovery route, not Samsung Gallery’s Recycle bin.
What to know about Google-linked Gallery sync
Samsung Japan’s support page, updated October 1, 2026, describes a Google-storage-based Gallery sync option following the end of OneDrive sync. It says deleting a synced photo in Gallery or Google Photos removes it from connected devices and the other service, and that deleted items remain in Gallery and Google Photos trash for 30 days.

That is Japan-specific guidance. The reviewed official support information does not establish that this option, its menus, or its deletion behavior is available in every country. Check Samsung’s instructions for your location before following a Google-linked workflow.

Before permanently deleting a picture
- Confirm the app and account that currently hold the picture.
- If you want to keep it, verify that another copy exists and can be opened before emptying a bin or choosing permanent deletion.
- In a linked sync setup, a deletion can propagate to connected services or devices. Samsung Japan specifically describes this behavior for its Google-linked setup.
