Canadian shoppers have several alternatives to EB Games. Nintendo’s Canadian retailer directory names Amazon Canada, Best Buy Canada, Costco Canada, Indigo, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, Staples Canada, Toys R Us Canada and Walmart Canada. Nintendo also sells selected accessories, replacement parts and authentic refurbished products through its own Nintendo Store. Retailer listings, prices and stock change, so treat the directory as a list of places to check—not a promise that a specific game is available at every store.
Canadian retailers to check first
The following destinations are identified by Nintendo as Canadian retailers for Nintendo products. Their ranges differ by location and by season; search for the exact title, system or accessory before travelling to a store.

Choose a retailer by the job you need done
When you want the largest online search
Start with a retailer that lets you search by game name, platform and format. Online catalogues make it easier to compare a physical cartridge with a download code, see edition names and read the delivery estimate. Marketplace pages require extra scrutiny: the product title may say Switch while the item is actually for Switch 2, or a third-party seller may use a stock image that does not match the supplied packaging.

For any marketplace order, open the full offer details and record the seller, condition, fulfilment method, return window and delivery date. A Nintendo-listed retailer is not the same as a guarantee that every marketplace offer is authorised, new or covered by Nintendo’s warranty.

When you need pickup today
Best Buy’s Nintendo category is a concrete example of a catalogue with both shipping and nearby-store pickup filters. Enter your postal code, select the exact product and look for a pickup status tied to a named store. Do not rely on a general “available” label: inventory can be reserved, delayed between warehouses or unavailable at the branch you plan to visit. If pickup is not offered, compare the delivery date with another retailer before paying.
When you need a replacement part or official accessory
The Nintendo Store is the most direct option for accessories, replacement parts and selected authentic refurbished products sold to residents of Canada and the United States. This is useful for items such as official controllers, charging equipment or a part identified by a Nintendo model number. Nintendo warns that many parts for older systems are no longer available, so an out-of-stock listing may reflect discontinued support rather than a temporary shortage.
When you are hunting for an older or discontinued game
Nintendo points shoppers toward online retailers that specialise in older or used stock, pawn shops, garage sales, flea markets, classified advertisements and online auction sites. These channels can uncover games no longer carried by major chains, but the condition and completeness of each item matter more than the store name. Ask for photographs of the cartridge, label, case, contacts and any included manual before agreeing to a price.

Confirm the exact Switch platform before buying
“Nintendo Switch” is not a sufficient compatibility check. A listing can refer to the original Switch family, Switch Lite, Switch OLED or Nintendo Switch 2, and accessories are not universally interchangeable.

Read the compatibility section rather than inferring it from a photograph. For a game, verify the platform printed in the title and description. For a case, screen protector, dock, charging grip or controller, look for an explicit model list. If the page is ambiguous, ask the retailer before ordering and keep the answer with your purchase records.
A reliable buying process
- Define the item. Write down the game name, edition, physical or digital format, and the console model. For an accessory, note the required function—charging, protection, multiplayer, storage or replacement.
- Search at two or more Nintendo-listed retailers. Compare the exact product title and model number, not just the thumbnail or headline price.
- Check platform wording. Confirm whether the listing is for Switch 2, original Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED or multiple systems. Look for required hardware such as a dock or detachable controllers.
- Inspect condition and seller. Choose new, open-box, refurbished or used deliberately. On a marketplace, identify who sells the item and who fulfils the order.
- Verify fulfilment. Compare delivery dates, shipping charges, store-pickup status and the possibility of a split shipment. For pickup, select the named branch and wait for the ready-for-collection notice.
- Compare the final total. Include taxes, delivery, membership requirements and bundle conditions. A temporary promotion or bundle is not evidence that the retailer is the lowest-priced option nationwide.
- Review returns before payment. Check whether opened games, redeemed download codes, used hardware or marketplace purchases have different return rules.
- Save documentation. Keep the order confirmation, seller name, model number and photos of a used item. These records help if the wrong platform or a missing component arrives.
Buying used, refurbished or older products safely
Secondhand stock is often the only practical route for discontinued games and legacy accessories. Nintendo states that secondhand hardware and accessories do not carry Nintendo’s hardware or accessory warranty. That does not automatically make a used purchase unsuitable, but it shifts the risk to the buyer and the seller’s own return policy.

Inspect a used game
- Match the cartridge label and region information to the advertised title.
- Check for damaged contacts, corrosion, cracked plastic, missing case art or signs of liquid exposure.
- Ask whether the game boots and whether save data, downloadable content or a code is included. A previously redeemed code has no remaining value.
- Confirm the seller accepts returns if the cartridge is unreadable or the contents differ from the description.
Inspect used hardware and accessories
- Ask for the console serial label, model revision and included power supply or dock.
- Test charging, buttons, analogue sticks, wireless pairing, cartridge reading and display output where possible.
- Check that a replacement charger has the correct specifications and is intended for the console model.
- For refurbished products, identify who performed the refurbishment and what warranty or return period that seller provides; do not assume Nintendo’s warranty applies.
Where demos may be available
Nintendo Canada says shoppers can try Switch 2 and some games at selected EB Games, Walmart and Best Buy stores. For alternatives to EB Games, that means Walmart and Best Buy may have demo opportunities, but participation is store-specific. Contact the local branch for details before travelling; a demo does not guarantee that the exact game or console is in purchase stock.
How to compare price, stock and fulfilment
There is no stable nationwide price leader established for these retailers. Prices and bundles change, and a retailer may show a lower headline figure that depends on membership, a trade-in, a particular edition or a limited-time promotion. Compare the final checkout total on the same day and record the date if you are waiting for a restock.
Separate three different availability states: listed online, available to ship and available at your chosen store. A listing can remain searchable after local stock sells out. Pickup quantities can also change while an order is being prepared. If an item matters for a birthday or trip, order early enough to absorb a delivery delay or keep a second retailer as a backup.

Common problems and practical fixes
The listing says Switch but not which generation
Do not order until the platform line, model number or packaging image resolves the ambiguity. Search the same model number on another Nintendo-listed retailer or contact customer service. A generic product photograph is not proof of compatibility.
Pickup appears available but the store cannot find it
Wait for the retailer’s ready-for-pickup message rather than relying on the initial stock indicator. If the order is cancelled, check another branch or switch to shipping; do not assume a nearby store has the same inventory.

Photograph the package immediately, compare every component with the listing and start the retailer’s return process within the stated window. Keep the seller and fulfilment information because the marketplace—not Nintendo—may be the party responsible for the transaction.
An older accessory is unavailable everywhere
Check the Nintendo Store for remaining official parts, then broaden the search to reputable used channels. Verify model compatibility and condition before buying; Nintendo notes that many parts for older systems are no longer available.
