You do not need the Google Play Store to buy a phone. Open a normal web browser and complete the purchase on the Google Store, Samsung Shop, a carrier website, or a reputable retailer. Google Store handles Pixel hardware checkout separately from Google Play, and Google says its phones are sold unlocked. For a Galaxy phone, the available stores and models depend on your country, so verify the regional model, network support, warranty and seller before paying.
Google Play access is not required for a hardware purchase
Google Play and Google Store are separate services. Google Play may display featured hardware, but Google Play Help states that a hardware transaction is “processed and managed on the Google Store.” That means a blocked, missing or unusable Play Store does not prevent you from ordering a Pixel. In a browser, go directly to the Google Store site for your country, choose the phone and use its checkout.
The same principle applies to Galaxy devices: an app-store problem does not stop you using Samsung’s web shop, a carrier’s website or another authorized retailer. You only need a browser, a payment method accepted in your region and a delivery address that the seller serves.

How to buy a Pixel from Google Store in a browser
- Open the Google Store for your country. Use the country-specific storefront rather than a random international page. Google’s regional guidance requires the shipping address to be in the same region as the Store site used for the order.
- Select the exact Pixel configuration. Check storage, color, SIM arrangement and any trade-in option. A model shown on one country’s catalog may have different radios, memory choices or availability elsewhere.
- Review the complete checkout total. Include the phone price, tax, shipping, trade-in credit, financing charges and any optional protection plan. A displayed monthly installment is not the same as the final amount you will pay.
- Choose delivery and pay in the browser. Google Store manages the order, payment and fulfillment; Google Play is not required at any stage of checkout.
- Save the invoice and order details. Keep the confirmation email, IMEI information supplied with the device and the applicable return terms. Those records are useful if a shipment, trade-in or warranty claim goes wrong.
What “unlocked” means for a Google Store Pixel
Google Pixel Help says, “All phones in the Google Store come unlocked.” An unlocked phone is not tied to one carrier’s billing account, but it is not automatically compatible with every network worldwide. Before ordering, compare the advertised model number with your carrier’s supported LTE and 5G bands, voice-over-LTE requirements and eSIM policy. Physical SIM and eSIM combinations can differ by model and country.

After delivery, Google’s guidance is to use the unlocked Pixel with your carrier and follow that carrier’s activation instructions. An unlocked device may still need a carrier-approved plan, an account in good standing and a compatible SIM or eSIM.
Carrier activation during US Google Store checkout
In the United States, Google Store documents activation options for AT&T and Verizon, with different eligibility rules. AT&T activation is described for current AT&T users upgrading on an AT&T installment plan. Verizon supports new and current users, subject to Verizon’s own activation process. Read the eligibility screen carefully: carrier financing, account status, installment obligations and promotional bill credits can change the effective cost and the conditions for upgrading or leaving.
Ways to buy a Samsung Galaxy without opening Google Play
Samsung buyers have several legitimate web routes. The correct mix of models, financing and delivery options varies by country, so begin with the storefront that serves your address.

Samsung’s country-specific online shop is the direct route for Galaxy phones. It normally provides the manufacturer’s current configurations, Samsung trade-in offers and the warranty terms for that market. Confirm the listed model number, dispatch country, delivery estimate and whether the price includes local tax. A Samsung phone bought from one region can have different modem bands, processor variants or dual-SIM support from a similarly named phone sold elsewhere.

Official Android shopping links
Android’s official shopping page lists Pixel and Galaxy models with “Buy now” links. Android also warns that product availability, features and specifications vary by region, carrier and device. Use those links as a starting point, then verify that the destination is the correct country store and that the exact configuration is in stock.
Carrier checkout
Carriers can be the best route when you need installments, activation or a time-limited promotion. The headline discount may be delivered as monthly bill credits rather than an immediate reduction. Before accepting, check the lock period, required plan, account eligibility, activation fee, financing term, insurance requirement and what happens to remaining credits if you cancel or upgrade early. A carrier-sold phone can be locked even when an otherwise similar model from the manufacturer is unlocked.
Reputable retailers and marketplaces
Retailers such as Amazon may offer more stock, faster delivery or a lower price, but the listing is only as reliable as the seller and the regional model. On a marketplace, inspect the “sold by” and “dispatched by” lines, not just the marketplace logo. Confirm that the listing explicitly says unlocked, identifies the intended country version and provides a return route handled by a real business. Samsung promotion terms for specified UK and Ireland territories, for example, distinguish Amazon.co.uk listings sold and dispatched by Amazon from other marketplace offers; participation rules are country- and promotion-specific.

Checks to complete before you place any order
Identify the exact model, not only the marketing name
“Pixel 9” or “Galaxy S” is not enough to establish compatibility. Open the technical details and record the model number, storage capacity, SIM type and country variant. Compare that identifier with your carrier’s compatibility checker. Look specifically for the LTE bands used where you live, 5G bands, VoLTE support, Wi-Fi calling requirements and whether the phone supports the eSIM profile your carrier issues.

Confirm the unlock status in writing
For a Pixel purchased through Google Store, the manufacturer’s stated policy is that all Google Store phones come unlocked. For a carrier or marketplace listing, require an explicit unlocked statement and read any exceptions. “Works with” a network is not the same as “factory unlocked,” and a phone that becomes eligible for unlocking later may remain restricted until the account meets conditions.
Calculate the real cost
- Device price after tax and shipping.
- Financing interest or account fees, if any.
- Activation, upgrade or SIM charges.
- Trade-in value, including deadlines and condition requirements.
- Carrier bill credits and the months you must keep the qualifying plan.
- Customs, VAT and brokerage fees for an imported phone.
Read warranty and return rules
Direct manufacturer purchases generally give you a clearly identified warranty provider in the selling region. Marketplace warranty handling can differ: the seller may be responsible, the manufacturer may require proof of regional sale, or the device may be refurbished despite a new-looking title. Note the return window, restocking fee, return-shipping responsibility and whether activation or opened packaging affects eligibility. Keep the invoice and packaging until you have tested the phone.
Is Amazon safe for a Pixel or Galaxy phone?
Amazon can be safe when the listing is transparent and the seller is trustworthy, but the marketplace itself does not guarantee that every listing is the correct regional model. Use this inspection sequence:

- Read the seller name and feedback, then check whether the item is sold by Amazon, the manufacturer or a clearly identified authorized business.
- Check who dispatches the item. A marketplace-fulfilled order can have different returns or warranty handling from an item sold and dispatched by Amazon.
- Verify the exact model number, storage and country version in the technical specification, not only in the title.
- Look for an explicit factory-unlocked statement and confirm that it is not a carrier-return or finance-locked device.
- Read the warranty provider, return window and condition grade. “Renewed,” “open box” and imported stock are different from new regional stock.
- Compare the final delivered price with the manufacturer’s store after tax, shipping and trade-in value.
When the seller, model region or warranty is unclear, the lower price is not a reliable saving. Choose a listing with an unambiguous invoice and a return process you can use from your country.

Regional, imported and blocked-service pitfalls
Store region and shipping address
Google requires the Google Store shipping address to be in the same region as the storefront used for purchase. A virtual location or payment card from another country does not change that delivery rule. If the store rejects your address, switch to the correct country site or an authorized local seller rather than entering a different address.
Network and regulatory compatibility
Android’s shopping guidance says availability, features and specifications vary by region, carrier and device. Imported phones can lack local 5G bands, emergency-calling support, eSIM access or required certification. Some countries require local IMEI registration; others collect customs duty or VAT when the package enters the country. Confirm these obligations before ordering because a return may not recover taxes or brokerage fees.
Warranty boundaries
A manufacturer may limit warranty service to the country or sales region where the phone was intended to be sold. Ask the seller how repairs are handled locally and whether a cross-border return is required. Do not assume that a global brand name means identical warranty coverage everywhere.

- Use a computer or phone browser and open the manufacturer’s country-specific store page.
- Compare the Pixel or Galaxy configuration with your carrier’s compatibility information.
- Add the phone to the cart and capture the model number, seller identity, price and promised delivery date.
- Review financing, trade-in, activation and return conditions before entering payment details.
- Use an accepted card or payment method, complete any bank verification and save the order confirmation outside the blocked app environment.
- When the phone arrives, photograph the box label, verify the model and IMEI, insert your SIM or download the carrier eSIM, and test calling, mobile data, Wi-Fi calling and 5G during the return period.
This process does not require installing Google Play. The Play Store may be unavailable because of device policy, regional restrictions, network filtering or software configuration; none of those conditions changes where the web transaction is processed.

What to do when a purchase attempt fails
The store says your address is unsupported
Check that the storefront country, billing address and shipping address all match the market being served. If they do not, use the local Google Store or Samsung Shop, a local carrier or an authorized retailer. Do not rely on freight forwarding unless you have confirmed warranty, customs and return implications.
The payment is declined
Verify that your bank permits international or online transactions, that the billing address matches the card and that the store accepts your card type. A carrier installment plan may also require a local account and credit approval, so try the manufacturer’s one-time payment option or a different authorized route if eligibility is the issue.
The phone arrives but will not connect
Recheck the model number against the carrier’s band and VoLTE requirements, then confirm that the SIM or eSIM was provisioned correctly. Contact the carrier for activation support. If the listing promised unlocked service but the device is locked, stop using it and start the seller’s return or dispute process while keeping the packaging and invoice.
The marketplace listing changes after ordering
Save screenshots of the original listing, seller, model and unlock claim. Inspect the delivered label before opening or activating the phone. If the item is a different region, refurbished when advertised as new, or missing the promised warranty, request a return under the marketplace policy and notify the payment provider if the seller does not resolve it.
The practical choice
For a Pixel, the Google Store browser checkout is the most direct way to obtain an authentic, unlocked device without Google Play. For a Galaxy, start with Samsung’s local shop, then compare a carrier and reputable retailer when financing, promotions or availability matter. In every case, the decisive checks are regional model compatibility, written unlock status, total cost, warranty and a usable return path—not whether the Play Store app is installed.
