The Where the Seeds Fall PC demo requires 64-bit Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, an SSD, and at least 5 GB of free space. Its official minimum hardware is an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 paired with a GeForce GTX 1660 (6 GB) or Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB). Recommended hardware moves to a Core i5-12400 or Ryzen 5 5600 with a GeForce RTX 3060 (8 GB) or Radeon RX 6700 XT.
The measured Windows download is smaller than the store requirement: SteamDB records a 1.50 GiB download and 1.65 GiB installed depot. Keep 5 GB free on an SSD because that is the requirement published on Steam, and it leaves room for installation overhead or updates.
Official PC system requirements
The following specifications come from the official Steam listing, checked on October 18, 2026. Minimum and recommended configurations both require the same operating system, memory, DirectX version, SSD storage, and nominal free-space allowance; the difference is the processor and graphics-card tier.

“Minimum” is the threshold published by the developer and publisher, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, or graphics preset. The listing does not publish target FPS or independent benchmark results. A computer that clears the minimum should be treated as eligible to launch the demo, while the recommended tier is the safer starting point for higher settings or steadier performance.

What the CPU and GPU tiers mean
Minimum processor
The Core i5-10400 and Ryzen 5 5500 are six-core desktop processors from different manufacturers. They define the CPU class the listing expects for the demo. Laptop chips with similar names can perform differently because of power limits, cooling, and sustained boost behavior, so compare the exact model rather than relying on the “i5” or “Ryzen 5” label alone.
Recommended processor
The Core i5-12400 and Ryzen 5 5600 represent a newer or faster six-core class. Choosing one of these processors gives the game more CPU headroom for simulation, asset streaming, and background Windows tasks, but it does not by itself guarantee a specific frame rate because the official page supplies no performance target.
Minimum graphics cards
The GTX 1660 is listed with 6 GB of video memory, while the RX 6600 is listed with 8 GB. Either is an official minimum example. Video-memory capacity is only one part of GPU performance: architecture, clock speed, cooling, driver version, and the laptop or desktop power limit also affect results.

Recommended graphics cards
The RTX 3060 is listed with 8 GB, and the RX 6700 XT is the AMD recommendation. These cards provide a larger performance margin than the minimum examples, but the requirements do not state whether that margin corresponds to a particular resolution, quality preset, or refresh rate.

How much storage the demo actually uses
Steam presents two different storage figures, and they answer different questions:
- 5 GB available: the store-level free-space requirement for both minimum and recommended configurations. An SSD is explicitly required.
- 1.50 GiB download: the Windows depot download recorded by SteamDB.
- 1.65 GiB installed: the total Windows depot size recorded by SteamDB after installation.
GB and GiB are different units: a GB uses decimal powers of 1,000, while a GiB uses binary powers of 1,024. That is why a 1.65 GiB installed measurement should not be compared to the 5 GB store value as though they were identical units. The 5 GB figure is a practical free-space requirement, not a measurement of the compressed download payload. The available sources do not quantify how much of the difference is reserved for temporary installation files, updates, or Steam’s own overhead, so leave the full 5 GB free rather than planning around only 1.65 GiB.
Why an SSD is required
The SSD requirement applies at both hardware tiers. Solid-state storage can seek and stream game data more quickly than a mechanical hard drive, which matters when a game loads scenes or reads many small files. The listing does not specify SATA versus NVMe, a minimum sequential speed, or a required capacity beyond the 5 GB free-space figure. Any SSD that leaves the required headroom should satisfy the stated storage condition; a larger drive is simply easier to maintain because Windows and future updates also need free space.
Can you run the demo on Windows 10?
Windows 10 is not listed as a supported operating system. The official requirement says 64-bit Windows 11 for both minimum and recommended configurations, so a Windows 10 installation falls outside the published support statement. The demo may or may not start on an unsupported system, but there is no official compatibility assurance to rely on.

To check your edition and architecture in Windows 11, open Settings → System → About. Confirm that Windows specifications shows Windows 11 and that System type reports a 64-bit operating system. If the PC is still on Windows 10, verify hardware and application compatibility before considering an upgrade; do not assume that meeting the CPU and GPU numbers overrides the operating-system requirement.
How to check your PC before downloading
- Press Windows key + R, enter
dxdiag, and press Enter. The System tab shows the Windows version, processor, and memory; the Display tab identifies the graphics processor and DirectX information. - Open Settings → System → Storage and select the SSD where Steam will install the demo. Confirm at least 5 GB of available space after selecting the intended library location.
- In Steam, open Steam → Settings → Storage to see each library’s drive and free capacity. A library on a hard disk does not meet the published SSD requirement, even if another drive in the computer is an SSD.
- Compare the exact CPU and GPU model shown by Windows with the table above. Do not compare only the amount of system RAM or video RAM; the model itself determines whether it matches an official example.
- Install current graphics drivers from the GPU manufacturer’s normal support channel and restart Windows before launching. Driver recency is a sensible troubleshooting step, but the requirements page does not name a particular driver version.
Installing the demo through Steam
- Open the demo’s Steam store page and choose Install or Add to Library, depending on the button Steam displays for your account.
- When Steam asks for an install location, select a library on an SSD with at least 5 GB free. The download itself is recorded at 1.50 GiB, but the larger store allowance is the figure to plan around.
- Allow Steam to finish downloading and allocating files. Do not interrupt the process merely because the download counter is below 5 GB; allocation and update checks can use additional temporary space.
- After installation, open the demo from the Library. If Steam reports missing or corrupted files, open the game’s Properties → Installed Files and choose Verify integrity of demo files.
Troubleshooting common requirement failures
Not enough free space
Free space can disappear during unpacking even when the final depot is about 1.65 GiB. Empty the Recycle Bin, remove unneeded downloads, or move another game to a different library, then retry with at least the full 5 GB available on the selected SSD. Check the drive associated with the Steam library, not just the Windows system drive.
The installer is on a hard drive
Move or recreate the Steam library on an SSD. Having an SSD elsewhere in the PC does not change the storage type of the library Steam is currently using. In Steam’s storage manager, select the SSD, create a library folder if necessary, and start the installation there.

Because Windows 11 is the only operating system listed, Windows 10 users should not treat compatibility-mode settings as an official workaround. Confirm the edition and 64-bit architecture first, then check Microsoft’s upgrade requirements and your application’s backup needs before changing the operating system.

Graphics or DirectX errors
Use dxdiag to confirm that DirectX 12 is available and that the intended GPU is detected. Update the graphics driver, reboot, and verify the demo files in Steam. If the machine uses integrated graphics alongside a discrete GPU, set the demo to use the discrete adapter in Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics. The published requirements do not guarantee that every older DirectX 12 implementation will deliver the same performance.
Stuttering or unexpectedly low performance
Meeting a minimum requirement does not establish a frame-rate target. Close heavy background applications, use the recommended GPU driver, and begin with conservative in-game settings if the demo exposes them. If problems persist, compare the exact CPU and GPU against the recommended tier and check temperatures and power limits, particularly on laptops. No independent frame-rate measurements are published for this demo, so a precise FPS promise would be misleading.

SteamDB marks the demo as having full controller support and as gamepad preferred. Its metadata specifically lists DualShock Controllers and DualSense Controllers when connected by USB. That makes a wired gamepad a supported alternative to keyboard and mouse. The available listing does not state wireless compatibility, button-remapping details, vibration behavior, or support for every third-party controller, so those features should not be assumed.
For the most predictable setup, connect the controller by USB before launching the demo and confirm that Steam detects it. If input is not recognized, open Steam’s controller settings, check that the device appears, reconnect the cable, and restart the game. A keyboard and mouse remain the fallback input method, but the store metadata gives preference to gamepad play.

Demo availability and what is known about its scope
SteamDB records the Windows-only demo as released on October 16, 2026 at 07:51:37 UTC and marked free on the store. The parent game’s Steam page identifies CygamesEdge and ZEREO Inc. as developers and Cygames, Inc. as publisher.
The publisher describes a setting in which “The earth has been afflicted by Blight, forcing humanity to build new homes upon the branches of the World Tree.” It also says the narrative experience can be completed in about three hours. Those are publisher statements about the story and expected length, not independent testing results. They do not change the hardware requirements or provide a performance benchmark.
Quick decision checklist
- Your operating system is 64-bit Windows 11.
- The Steam library is on an SSD with at least 5 GB free.
- Your PC has 16 GB of RAM.
- Your processor and graphics card meet at least one pair in the minimum column.
- DirectX 12 is available and the correct GPU driver is installed.
- You have a USB-compatible controller if you want the gamepad-preferred experience.
If every item is true, your computer matches the published prerequisites. The minimum tier answers whether the system is within the stated hardware envelope; it does not predict a specific visual-quality setting or frame rate.
