The available overview does not substantiate 28 banking and finance AI deployments: it is titled “AI in Banking & Finance: 24 real deployments,” says it covers 24, and was marked updated September 7, 2026. It reports 13 deployments as in production or with results, nine with a reported outcome, and one halted or reversed. Those categories should not be read as proof that every example is a mature, independently verified production system.

Why the count is 24, not 28

The overview’s stated scope is 24 named deployments. Its title and page description agree on that count, while the assignment’s “28” figure is not supported by the available source. The overview reports 13 examples as in production or with results, nine as having a reported outcome, and one as halted or reversed. It does not establish that these categories are mutually exclusive, so they should not be added together to derive another total.

The overview groups examples across operations, employee knowledge, customer service, fraud, marketing, forecasting, sales, and research. It provides a useful map of activity, but its labels and descriptions are not independent verification of each underlying organization’s implementation or results.

What the named examples do

The table shows the functions and organizations named by the overview. The source does not state an individual maturity label or outcome for every organization in these groupings; where the supplied account does not specify one, that limitation is made explicit.

Business function Examples named in the overview What is established about maturity or results
Operations Webull; Robinhood The overview includes them as examples in this function. Individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Financial analysis, research, and trade workflows Jane Street; S&P Global; Fasset; HSBC; PwC; a trade-finance proof of concept involving ANZ, HSBC, and Lloyds The trade-finance example is identified as a proof of concept. Individual status and measured outcomes for the other named organizations are not stated in the supplied account.
Employee knowledge management KPMG; Deloitte; Grant Thornton UK; EY The overview groups these under knowledge management; individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Hiring or workforce UBS; McKinsey The overview groups these under hiring or workforce; individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Customer service American Express; Agricultural Bank of China The overview groups these under customer service; individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Fraud PayPal; Commonwealth Bank The overview groups these under fraud; individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Marketing Klarna; Experian The overview groups these under marketing; individual status and measured outcomes are not stated in the supplied account.
Forecasting, sales, and research Other entries are described in these functions The supplied account does not name the organizations or provide individual statuses and outcomes for these entries.

What reported operational results look like

A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Form 20-F excerpt describes governed AI programs across customer servicing, lending, trade processing, retail assets, and relationship management. It reports several program-specific operational results:

  • Credit-card processing: turnaround for a subprocess fell from more than eight hours to approximately one minute.
  • MSME working-capital acquisition: new-to-bank acquisition turnaround improved from approximately 15 days to approximately seven to eight days.
  • Trade classification: an AI-assisted key processing task achieved accuracy above 80 percent.

These figures are reported in the filing for the programs it describes. They are not industry-wide benchmarks, and the excerpt’s limited context does not establish that the same performance would apply to another bank, workflow, or dataset. The filing also describes defined outcomes, controlled deployment parameters, and performance checkpoints as elements of its governed execution environments; it does not establish that every deployment in the overview uses those controls.

Which financial tasks are using AI

The UK Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation’s AI Barometer identifies fraud and anti-money-laundering detection, risk management, customer interactions, and credit decisions as financial-services applications. These uses have different consequences: an internal workflow recommendation is not the same as a model that influences whether a person can obtain credit.

Machine learning can inform credit decisions and may help assess applicants who lack conventional credit histories. The Barometer cautions that alternative data, including social-media data, is relatively untested and could amplify discriminatory decisions if used irresponsibly. Data quality and relevance, fairness checks, and human oversight matter alongside speed or accuracy claims—especially when a system affects access to financial services.

How to judge whether a deployment is meaningful

A count of announced projects is a weak proxy for real-world impact. When comparing examples, separate what an organization or source says it is doing from what has been measured, and check the context behind the result.

  • Function: Identify the task—such as fraud detection, servicing, credit assessment, or employee knowledge support—and whether the system advises a person or acts on a decision.
  • Maturity: Distinguish an announcement, proof of concept, pilot, production deployment, and a halted or reversed project. These are materially different stages.
  • Outcome: Look for a defined measure, baseline, and operational context. A turnaround-time improvement is not automatically evidence of better decisions or customer outcomes.
  • Who is affected: Consider customers, applicants, employees, and operations teams, as well as the consequences of errors or unequal performance.
  • Governance: Look for controlled deployment parameters, performance checkpoints, review processes, and accountable human oversight. A claimed efficiency gain does not by itself demonstrate these safeguards.
  • Evidence source: Separate an organization’s own reported result from an overview’s status label or a third-party survey statistic.

Survey figures are not deployment results

A 2022 Global Banking & Finance Review article reports NVIDIA survey figures of 31% for payment and transaction fraud detection, 28% for conversational AI, and 27% for algorithmic trading. The article is a secondary report of survey results; the original survey was not independently inspected for this account. These percentages are therefore best treated as reported survey figures, not as current adoption rates, audited deployment counts, or proof of successful outcomes.
