On Windows 11, fonts activated through Adobe Fonts are generally available to Windows and applications through one of two font locations:
C:WindowsFontsfor system-wide fonts%LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFontsfor fonts installed only for your Windows user account
Adobe Fonts does not necessarily place every activated typeface in a normal folder as a separately downloadable .ttf or .otf file. Adobe Creative Cloud manages font activation, while Windows and supported applications use the activated font.

To inspect fonts installed only for your account, enter this path in File Explorer:
%LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFonts
On a typical installation, that resolves to:
C:UsersYourNameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsFonts
Replace YourName with your Windows account name. The AppData folder is hidden by default, so using the environment-variable path is usually easier than browsing to it manually.

- Go to Personalization → Fonts.

- Select the matching font to view its preview and available styles.
If the font appears here, Windows knows about it. That does not guarantee that every program supports it: some applications do not support custom or externally activated fonts.

How Adobe Fonts gets onto Windows 11
When you activate a font in Adobe Creative Cloud, the Creative Cloud desktop application synchronizes it for use by supported Adobe applications and other applications that can use Windows fonts. The exact handling is controlled by Adobe rather than by a normal manual font installation.
That means an Adobe font may not behave like a font you downloaded and installed yourself. In particular:
- You may not receive a normal font file that you can copy elsewhere.
- The font may be available only while Creative Cloud font synchronization is working.
- The font can appear in Windows and Adobe applications without being obvious in the system-wide folder.
- Removing the font from Adobe Fonts can make it disappear from applications even though unrelated fonts remain installed.
For manually downloaded font files, Windows supports TrueType (.ttf) and OpenType (.otf) files. A ZIP download must be extracted first. Right-click the extracted file and choose Install or Install for all users.

Find a particular Adobe font with PowerShell
If you know part of the font filename, search both normal Windows font locations from PowerShell:
$paths = @("$env:WINDIRFonts", "$env:LOCALAPPDATAMicrosoftWindowsFonts")
Get-ChildItem -Path $paths -File -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue |
Where-Object { $_.Name -like "*FontName*" }
Replace FontName with a distinctive part of the filename. For example, to search for files containing “Garamond”:
$paths = @("$env:WINDIRFonts", "$env:LOCALAPPDATAMicrosoftWindowsFonts")
Get-ChildItem -Path $paths -File -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue |
Where-Object { $_.Name -like "*Garamond*" }
This search may return nothing even when the typeface is active through Adobe Fonts. A missing file result is not proof that activation failed; Adobe can manage the font rather than presenting it as a conventional font file in one of these folders.

What to do if an Adobe font is missing from an app
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop application and confirm that you are signed in to the intended Adobe account.
- Check that the font is activated in Adobe Fonts and that font synchronization is enabled.
- Close and reopen the application where the font is missing. Some programs read the font list only when they start.
- Check Settings → Personalization → Fonts to see whether Windows lists it.
- Test the font in another application, such as WordPad-compatible software or another graphics program.
If Windows lists the font but one application does not, the problem may be application support rather than font storage. Microsoft notes that not all applications support custom fonts. Also check whether the application is using a different font family name or style name; a family can appear under names such as Regular, Book, Semibold, or Display instead of the exact label shown on the Adobe website.

Remove an Adobe font
For a font activated through Adobe Fonts, remove or deactivate it from Adobe Fonts or Creative Cloud rather than deleting files from C:WindowsFonts. Manually deleting files can leave an application with a stale font list or create confusion about whether Adobe or Windows installed the typeface.
For a normally installed Windows font:
- Open Settings → Personalization → Fonts.
- Search for the font.
- Select the font.
- Open its options control and choose Uninstall.
Do not remove fonts that Windows or an application depends on unless you know they are safe to uninstall. If a font is locked or cannot be removed, close programs that may be using it and try again after restarting Windows.

FAQ
Are Adobe Fonts stored in C:WindowsFonts?
Sometimes, but not always. System-wide Windows fonts use C:WindowsFonts, while per-user fonts can use %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFonts. Adobe Fonts activation is managed by Creative Cloud, so an activated font may not be available as a normal font file in either folder.
Where is the Adobe Fonts folder on Windows 11?
There is not one universal Adobe Fonts folder that contains every activated typeface. Check Settings → Personalization → Fonts, then inspect C:WindowsFonts and %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFonts if you need to investigate a manually installed font.
Why can I see an Adobe font in Photoshop but not in another program?
The other program may not support custom or synchronized fonts, or it may have started before the font was activated. Restart that program and test the font in another application. If it works elsewhere, the issue is probably application support or its font cache.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Can I copy an Adobe Fonts file to another computer?
Usually not as a normal workflow. Adobe Fonts licensing and activation are tied to Adobe Creative Cloud. Sign in to the licensed Adobe account and activate the font on the second computer instead of copying an extracted file.
How do I open the Windows 11 Fonts folder quickly?
Press Windows key + E, enter C:WindowsFonts in the address bar, and press Enter. For per-user fonts, enter %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFonts.
The Bottom Line
For Windows 11, start with Settings → Personalization → Fonts, not with a presumption that every Adobe typeface is in one folder. System-wide fonts are normally in C:WindowsFonts; per-user fonts are normally in %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsFonts. Adobe Fonts itself is activated and managed through Creative Cloud, so the visible font entry—not a searchable font file—is often the reliable way to confirm that it is available.
