Reset Soul Binding only when the entire set of stat lines on an item is poor for your build. Reset (also called Rebind in some guides) replaces all lines at once, so a single unwanted line is usually a reason to use Sync instead. Before accepting a Reset, inspect the live confirmation screen: the reviewed sources do not conclusively establish whether Reset also removes Binding Rate progress or previously upgraded line values.
The practical decision is therefore about scope and risk. Sync changes one selected line; Bind improves the values already present; Reset/Rebind is the complete reroll. Costs and required materials can vary by item and patch, so the in-game screen for the exact gear piece is authoritative.
What Soul Binding Reset does in Aion 2
Reset/Rebind shuffles or replaces every Soul Binding stat line on the selected equipment piece in one operation. It is not a way to raise the numbers on your current lines and it is not a one-line correction. Any line that is currently useful is exposed to the same reroll as the line you dislike.

That makes Reset a high-scope action. If an item has several weak, mismatched or build-incompatible lines, replacing the whole set can be rational. If four lines are useful and one is wrong, replacing all five creates a much larger loss risk than solving the single problem.

The name can differ by guide or interface. One community guide calls the action “Rebind,” while the system descriptions and item listing use “Reset.” Treat those names as the same full-stat-line operation unless the current game interface shows a different description.
Reset, Sync and Bind compared
These actions solve different problems. Choose by how many lines need to change and whether you want to preserve the lines that already work.

Do not use Bind when your problem is the attribute itself: Bind strengthens a line but does not turn it into a different line. Conversely, do not use Reset merely because one value rolled low when Sync can target that line.

All or nearly all lines miss your build
Reset is most defensible when the item has no combination you would protect. For example, a damage-focused setup may receive defensive, healing or resource-related lines across the piece, leaving no meaningful trade-off to preserve. A complete reroll then addresses the underlying combination rather than polishing an unsuitable line.
The item is unusually valuable to keep
Reset can make sense on gear whose base properties, rarity or progression make replacement impractical. Compare the value of the existing item with the cost and availability of a replacement before spending the Reset resource. A full reroll is a gamble on the same item, not a guarantee that the next set will be better.
You have a realistic target and enough attempts
Because Reset replaces all lines at once, decide in advance which outcomes count as acceptable. If only one narrow combination can work, the operation may consume resources without solving the build problem. A broader acceptable range makes the reroll more practical.

You are not about to transfer or replace the item
Reset the item you expect to use long enough to benefit from the new lines. If a gear upgrade is imminent, first check whether its Soul Binding effects can be transferred and which effects the current transfer rules preserve.

Choose Sync when you can identify one line that is clearly unwanted while the remaining lines are valuable. Sync limits the operation to the selected line, so it avoids voluntarily discarding a set that already supports your build.
Sync is also the logical first move when the line type is correct but its value is disappointing only if the interface treats that line as the selectable target. If the issue is the amount on several lines, compare the expected resource cost of repeated Sync actions with a Reset, but do not assume Reset is cheaper or produces stronger values; the available descriptions do not establish either outcome.
Confirm that the material is valid for the item. The guide describes same-grade gear or Sync material, which means a random lower-grade piece may not qualify.
What you can lose—and what remains uncertain
The confirmed loss risk: every current line can be replaced
The defining consequence is scope. Reset does not preserve selected lines while changing the rest. A favorable line can disappear in the same operation as an unfavorable one, and the new set may be worse for your build even if it looks more varied.

The sources reviewed do not provide a sufficiently explicit answer about whether Reset removes prior Binding Rate progress or the upgraded values on existing lines. Do not treat either outcome as guaranteed. Read the confirmation text for the exact item and patch; if it does not state the resulting state clearly, postpone the action or verify through an official channel.

Reset is different from Bind
Bind raises current line values with a guaranteed increase of random magnitude. Reset is the replacement operation. Spending resources on Bind before a Reset may therefore improve lines that you later discard, while Resetting first may produce a new set that you then want to strengthen. The order matters when both actions are available.
How to check the cost and materials before confirming
- Open the Soul Binding controls for the exact gear piece, not a general system menu or a different item of the same rarity.
- Select Reset or Rebind and inspect the previewed result and every listed requirement.
- Record the displayed Kinah amount and the exact Soul Codex or other material name. Treat guide figures as context rather than a price list for your item.
- Read the confirmation text for warnings about stat lines, Binding Rate, upgraded values or any other carried-over state.
- Cancel if the screen is ambiguous, the item is still needed for another purpose, or you cannot accept losing a currently useful line.
- Confirm only after checking that the item selected is the intended piece and that you have compared Reset with the one-line Sync option.
A guide’s Unique-item example lists three bound Soul Codex: Reset and 300,000 Kina, but that observation is tied to the gear and version checked. The live Reset screen should override that example if your item shows different requirements.
A practical decision procedure
1. Mark the lines you would regret losing
List the current lines and classify each as essential, useful, tolerable or harmful for the build. If at least one essential line would be painful to lose, start with Sync or keep the item until you have a replacement plan.
2. Count the lines that actually need changing
One unwanted line points toward Sync. Several poor lines may justify comparing a full Reset with replacing the gear. Do not count a merely low number as a bad line until you know whether Bind can improve it at acceptable cost.
3. Check the item’s remaining life
If you will replace the item soon, investigate Transfer first. If it is a long-term piece, a Reset has more time to repay its resource cost.
4. Verify the live result and warning text
Use the preview and confirmation panel to check the exact scope and any state that carries over. The available documentation does not settle the Binding Rate question, so an unambiguous in-game warning is especially important.

5. Set a stopping rule
Decide what result is acceptable before spending the resource. Without a stopping rule, repeated rerolls can consume materials while merely exchanging one imperfect set for another.

NCSOFT’s Season 2 announcement says Transfer can move Soul Binding effects from existing gear to new gear, with up to six transfers allowed per equipment piece. That makes Transfer relevant whenever Resetting an old item is being considered alongside an upgrade.
A community reference says the base stat lines transfer at their bound values, but the extra line unlocked with Philosopher’s Stones does not transfer. The announcement cited above does not spell out that exception, so verify the current Transfer interface before relying on it. If that extra line is the main reason to keep the old item, compare the value of retaining it with the value of moving the other effects.
Transfer does not turn Reset into a safe operation. You still need to establish which state the current item will have after Reset and which effects the destination item will receive under the present rules.

One excellent line, one bad line
Keep the item protected and target the bad line with Sync. Reset exposes the excellent line to an unnecessary reroll.
Several lines are for the wrong role
Compare Reset with replacing the item. If the base item is difficult to replace and no line is worth preserving, Reset is the operation designed for this situation.

Good lines but weak values
Use Bind rather than Reset when the attributes are correct. Bind guarantees an increase, although the size of that increase is random.
You cannot tell whether progress will survive
Do not confirm until the live screen explains the result or you obtain authoritative clarification. The unresolved treatment of Binding Rate and upgraded line values is a material risk, not a detail to infer from the button name.
You are preparing a gear transfer
Check Transfer limits and the treatment of the Philosopher’s Stone extra line before spending Reset resources. A replacement plan can change which item is worth rerolling.
How to interpret conflicting guides
Use guides for the function of each action and as examples of materials, not as permanent prices or guarantees about retained progress. The Corpus example is dated October 4, 2026 and concerns a specific Unique item. A PLAYNC Lounge explainer repeats the same 300,000-Kina-plus-Reset-Codex figure but identifies itself as AI-generated and advises verification through official channels. Neither should replace the current in-game confirmation screen.
Patch changes can alter names, requirements, slot availability or transfer behavior. When a guide and the game disagree, record the item rarity, equipment slot and patch shown in your client, then follow the current interface rather than copying an older cost.
