The latest surfaced Steam listing gives January 20, 2027 as the planned release date. FD Team is listed as both the developer and publisher. The date differs from older localized and cached listing snapshots, which showed December 2026 or “Coming soon.” Because store dates can change, treat January 20 as the current plan rather than a confirmed, immutable launch date. Check the live Steam listing before making plans.
What platforms and release format are planned?
The game is listed for Steam on Windows PC and is not yet available there in the surfaced listing. Steam says it is planned for Early Access. The store describes a free Prologue demo, while Episode 1 and Episode 2 are planned for the full game. FD Team estimates the Early Access period will last around 12 months, but says that estimate may change as development progresses and community feedback comes in.
What kind of game is it?
Backrooms: Impending Doom is described on Steam as a single-player, first-person psychological horror game. Its story begins in Level 0 after a research expedition into the Backrooms fails. Players explore liminal spaces and investigate traces left by the missing expedition, piecing together events through environmental details, visual inconsistencies, records, and a terminal interface.

What are the PC system requirements?
The latest surfaced Steam listing gives the following Windows requirements. Steam also says an SSD is strongly recommended. These figures differ from an older page snapshot, so check the live listing before relying on them for a purchase or upgrade decision.

Steam attributes this statement to the developer, though it does not name an individual or give a date for the statement: “We are bringing the game to Early Access because this kind of horror grows stronger in the dark, with real players inside it. The core experience is already playable, but tension, pacing, balance, atmosphere, and unpredictability all benefit from community feedback. Early Access lets us refine the fear, expand the world, and shape the game together with the people brave enough to enter it early.”
