Possibly, but not for everyone yet. As of October 12, 2026, scheduled personal messages were reported as rolling out to some WhatsApp beta testers on Android—not as a feature available to all users. The reported tool lets testers choose a future delivery time, including for a birthday greeting, but the cited reports do not confirm a general release or current iPhone availability.
Who can schedule a personal WhatsApp message now?
WABetaInfo reported that scheduled messages were compatible with WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.40.7 and were reaching some testers in a gradual rollout. Having that app version does not guarantee that the feature is enabled on your account. The report described a rollout continuing over the following weeks, not a stable-release date. WABetaInfo’s Android beta report is the source for the rollout details.
That means the practical answer depends on your account: if the scheduling option appears in your Android beta, you can use the reported flow; otherwise, the feature may not have reached you. GSMArena repeated the same details on October 12, citing WABetaInfo, so it corroborates that reporting chain rather than providing separate official confirmation. GSMArena’s report

- Tap and hold the Send button, then choose a delivery time.
- To review or change a scheduled message before it goes out, open the dedicated scheduled-messages section in that chat’s info. The report says you can manage or delete messages there.
The reported scheduling window is from 10 minutes to two weeks ahead. This is a limit described by WABetaInfo for the beta feature, not a published official WhatsApp specification.
What happens if your phone is offline?
According to WABetaInfo’s beta report, a scheduled personal message can be delivered even if the sender’s device is offline or WhatsApp is closed. The recipient is not told that the message was scheduled, and is not notified if you delete it before delivery. These are reported beta behaviors and could change before a stable release.

A detail that matters for group birthday messages
The report says a scheduled group message goes only to people who were members when you scheduled it. Someone who joins the group afterward will not receive that message. If you are scheduling a greeting for a group, consider whether the intended recipients are already members at the time you set it up.

Is scheduled sending available on iPhone?
The cited iPhone report, dated June 11, 2026, described personal scheduled messages as still under development and unavailable even to beta testers at that time. It discussed planned support for chats and groups and a management section, but did not announce a launch date. Because that report predates the October Android beta rollout, it does not establish the current iPhone status. The available reporting does not confirm that iPhone users can schedule personal messages or when a stable release will arrive. WABetaInfo’s iPhone development report

Don’t confuse personal scheduling with WhatsApp’s other reminders
Business marketing messages
WhatsApp documents a scheduling option for business marketing messages, including birthday greetings. That is a business broadcast workflow, not proof that ordinary personal chats can be scheduled. It requires a payment method and funds. The device must be connected to the internet when the message is due; if it is offline, the app retries. See WhatsApp’s Help Center instructions for scheduling marketing messages.
Group-event reminders
Event reminders notify invitees about an event; they do not schedule an ordinary chat message for later delivery. Meta described the feature this way: “Now, when you create and send an event in a group chat, you can set custom early reminders for your invitees.” Meta’s announcement about group events
