AVAIO Digital’s Taurus data center campus in Brandon, Mississippi, had begun site work by September 10, 2025. The next announced targets are delivery milestones in 2027, but the available public updates do not confirm later construction progress or that the campus is operating.
What progress has been reported?
The project is AVAIO Digital Taurus, planned for East Metropolitan Center in Brandon, Rankin County. In an announcement dated September 10, 2025, AVAIO said site work had officially begun. The company named Yates Construction as general contractor and said the start followed an August 2025 Agreement for Electric Service with Entergy.
That September announcement is the latest dated physical-progress milestone in the sources reviewed. It establishes that site work had started by then; it does not establish how much work has since been completed. The developer’s project page also describes a groundbreaking update, but no later dated construction milestone or confirmation of operations is documented in the available sources.

The schedule has several distinct milestones, not one confirmed opening date. AVAIO said the campus was scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the first half of 2027. The Mississippi governor’s office likewise expected construction completion during the first half of 2027. Separately, the Edison Electric Institute’s large-customer project listing, accessed in 2026, lists 116 MW available in the first phase in 2027; the listing’s publication date was not established.

First-phase power availability, construction completion, and readiness for occupancy are related but different milestones. These are published targets or forecasts, not confirmation that any has been achieved.
How large is the campus, and how much power is planned?
Published acreage figures differ by source: the City of Brandon’s August 22, 2025 announcement described a planned 175-acre campus, while AVAIO’s project page lists 329 acres. The reviewed sources do not explain the difference, so the figures should not be treated as interchangeable or reconciled by assumption.

AVAIO’s project page lists 1,036 MW of total baseload power: 536 MW of grid power and 500 MW of baseload power behind the meter. Those are developer-published project specifications. The city announcement separately said nearly 450 MW of capacity was expected online by 2027; it does not explain how that figure relates to EEI’s 116 MW first-phase listing. These numbers describe different published measures and should not be combined as if they were the same capacity milestone.
What do the $6 billion figure and job projections mean?
AVAIO and Mississippi and Brandon officials described the project as a $6 billion investment in 2025. This is an announced investment figure, not an audited accounting of money already spent. The governor’s office projected at least 60 direct high-tech jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs; those are expected outcomes, not current hiring totals.

The state approved the project for its Data Center Enterprises tax exemption and had previously provided assistance through the Site Development Grant Program. Rankin County and Brandon are also identified as assisting. The governor’s announcement does not quantify the full public cost or all incentive terms, and the available sources do not establish realized economic or community impacts.

- Construction progress after the September 10, 2025 site-work announcement.
- A confirmed completion, occupancy, or operating date.
- Current hiring or measured economic and community outcomes.
- An explanation for the difference between the 175-acre and 329-acre figures.
- The complete value and terms of public incentives or assistance.
The City of Brandon said it would share further project milestone and community-impact updates as available. Until a later dated update confirms them, the 2027 schedule and projected jobs remain plans rather than completed results.
