Why will a modded Minecraft launcher not start the game?
A modded Minecraft instance commonly fails because the Java version, Minecraft version, mod loader, dependencies, or individual mods do not match.
Use this recovery sequence
- Launch an unmodded instance using the same Minecraft version.
- Confirm that the selected Java runtime is compatible with the Minecraft version and modpack.
- Check that the mod loader matches the pack: Fabric mods require Fabric, Forge mods require Forge, and so on.
- Remove recently added mods and test again.
- Look for missing dependencies, duplicate mods, and incompatible versions in the log or crash report.
- Reduce excessive memory allocation. Giving Minecraft nearly all available RAM can make the computer less stable rather than improving performance.

A launcher does not normally improve FPS simply by replacing the official launcher. Frame rate is usually more affected by the Minecraft version, mods, shaders, graphics settings, Java runtime, resource packs, drivers, hardware, and the modpack itself. “Best FPS launcher” is therefore a different question from “best free Minecraft launcher.”
Can you move worlds, mods, and profiles between launchers?
You can usually move worlds, mods, configuration files, or complete profiles between Java launchers, but a backup is essential and perfect one-click migration is not guaranteed.
