Netflix and Prime Video have announced substantial India-focused slates for 2026, but an announcement is not confirmation that a title is streaming now. The latest available figures also point to a bigger, more multi-screen audience—alongside fewer India-produced streaming originals in 2025 than at the 2023 peak. For the week of 5–11 October 2026, the evidence available through 7 October does not establish a complete India-wide release calendar.
What’s new on Indian OTT—and what is actually available?
OTT release lists often mix three different statuses. Keeping them separate helps prevent an upcoming title from being mistaken for a new release:
- Announced: A service has named a title as part of a slate. This confirms the announcement, not a release date or current availability.
- Scheduled: A service has given a release date. Check that date and Indian availability against the service’s own India catalog or a dated announcement.
- Now streaming: The title is available to watch in India. A title page or current India catalog listing is stronger confirmation than an earlier slate announcement.
As of the evidence dated 7 October 2026, no complete, platform-confirmed calendar for India-wide releases during 5–11 October is established here. Treat weekly roundups as leads, then verify each title’s service, Indian availability and status before relying on a date.

- Open the title’s page in the streaming service’s India catalog, or find a dated announcement from the service.
- Confirm whether the page says it is available now or gives a future release date; do not infer either from a slate announcement.
- Check the title’s language, subtitle or dubbing options, and format—film, series, reality show, sport or another kind of video.
- For a film, check whether it is a direct-to-streaming premiere or an arrival after a theatrical run.
Current prices, plan restrictions, device limits and a complete October slate by service are not established by the available dated information, so check those details with the individual service.

Which Indian titles have platforms announced for 2026?
The following are announced slate titles, not a list of confirmed current releases. Individual dates and India availability need to be checked separately.
Netflix’s announced India slate
In its 3 February 2026 announcement, Netflix described a slate spanning crime and thrillers, family drama, comedy, romantic comedies, unscripted formats and stories rooted in everyday life. Its examples show an emphasis on multiple Indian languages:

- Tamil: Romantic-comedy series #Love, film Made in Korea and R. Madhavan’s series Legacy.
- Telugu: Supernatural mystery film Takshakudu and Super Subbu, described by Netflix as its first Telugu series.
The announcement also named production partners including Red Chillies Entertainment, T-Series, Bhansali Productions, Jio Studios, Yash Raj Films, Maddock, Dharma Productions, Junglee Pictures, Ajay Devgn Films, Luv Films, Balaji Telefilms and Colour Yellow Pictures, as well as partners from South India. The slate signals a broad range of creative partnerships; it does not establish when each project will be released.
Prime Video’s announced India slate
At Prime Video Presents 2026, Prime Video announced close to 55 titles across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Newly announced titles included The Revolutionaries, Matka King, Raakh, Lukkhe and Vansh – The Kalyug Warriors. The returning titles named were Farzi Season 2, Panchayat Season 5, Call Me Bae Season 2, Dahaad Season 2, Dupahiya Season 2 and The Traitors Season 2.

The slate also included a Telugu adaptation of The Traitors, Telugu project Guvvala Cheruvu Ghat, Tamil drama Exam, Vadhandhi Season 2 and Inspector Rishi Season 2. These remain announced titles unless a separate release date and availability are confirmed.
How large is India’s OTT audience, and how is it watching?
Ormax Media’s The Ormax OTT Audience Report: 2026, published 10 September 2026, is based on a survey of 15,000 respondents across India in June and July 2026. Its figures use different definitions: an “OTT audience” member is someone who watched any online video at least once in the prior month, while an active paid subscription is a subscription used at least once during that month.

The figures describe a broad online-video audience, not the number of people who subscribe to one specific service. In particular, the weekly viewing estimate covers more than subscription films and series, and the connected-TV estimate does not mean every viewer needs to buy a new device.
Are Indian streaming services making more originals?
Not according to Ormax Media’s supply-side analysis. It counted 274 India-produced streaming originals launched in 2025, with fiction series making up 71% of that year’s total. The number of originals fell 18% in 2024 from its 2023 peak, then declined a further 13% in 2025.

This is a count of streaming originals, not every film or show that appeared on an OTT service. The analysis excludes YouTube and international content, does not cover some platforms, and excludes 27 JioHotstar influencer properties released under the Sparks sub-brand. Ormax also notes that it may have missed low-key launches that received little promotion. A film arriving on a service after a cinema run, for example, should not automatically be counted as a new streaming original.
Why do access and viewing differ between services?
A Ministry of Information and Broadcasting-hosted MPA/Deloitte report on India’s film, television and online curated content industry describes several ways platforms offer content: subscription access, transactional video-on-demand alongside subscriptions, hybrid models and bundles through telecom operators or OTT aggregators. As a result, a title’s availability and the way a viewer accesses it can vary by service and arrangement; the report is industry background, not a current price or plan comparison.
The report records JioHotstar’s February 2025 launch following the merger of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema into JioStar. That history helps explain why service names and access arrangements can change, but it does not confirm a particular title’s current catalog status.

Reliance Industries’ FY 2025–26 media overview reports that JioHotstar delivered 72.5 million concurrent streams during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final. It also reports IPL 2026 opening-weekend reach of more than 515 million viewers across television and digital. These are company-reported figures with different measurement descriptions—not measures of on-demand series viewership.
What do the 2026 announcements and figures mean for viewers?
The announced slates point to continued investment in Indian-language titles, returning series and varied formats, while the audience estimates show online video extending across screens and types of service. At the same time, the lower count of India-produced originals cautions against assuming that a larger audience automatically means more new originals. For a practical release roundup, verify each title’s current Indian availability and release status, then compare language options, format and whether a film is a direct-to-streaming premiere or a post-theatrical arrival.
