nixamp 0.17.1 brings four changes together: sign-in for third-party apps using a nixamp account, watch parties represented as rooms, event rooms with optional paid passes, and playback support for raw MPEG-TS files. The point release also fixes the /api/v1/events endpoint for databases created before concert events were added. These details come from chovy’s release article, originally published on dev.profullstack.com on September 16, 2026; the release and implementation details have not been independently verified here.
What changes in nixamp 0.17.1?
The release article describes nixamp.com as an OAuth 2.1 authorization server, allowing compatible client apps to use a nixamp account rather than create a separate account system. It also reframes watch parties as rooms, adds event rooms that can use paid passes, and adds raw MPEG-TS playback behavior. These are release-article descriptions, not findings from an independent security review or playback test.
The article identifies the release as nixamp 0.17.1 and says its point-release fix addresses /api/v1/events on databases that predate concert support. Availability and behavior can change; check the project’s current release information before relying on a particular build.

How does Sign in with nixamp work?
A client application can request access through nixamp’s OAuth flow. According to the release article, the resulting access token is an ordinary nixamp nxa_ token, includes the client’s name, and works with existing /api/v1 routes. The described scopes are profile, email, parties and offline_access.

Authorization and token controls
The article describes these safeguards:
- Every client must use PKCE with the S256 challenge method.
- Redirect URIs must match exactly, with an exception for loopback ports.
- Authorization codes can be used once.
- Refresh tokens rotate; reuse of a retired token revokes its token family.
- The implicit and password grants are not supported.
To remove an app’s access, the article points users to Account → Connected apps. These are claims from the release article; they should not be read as an independent conformance assessment or security audit.
How does a nixamp watch-party room work?
The room separates the shared viewing space from the film source. The release article says bittorrented.com continues to host the film, while nixamp provides the room identity, chat and playback-position synchronization. A party hosted on bittorrented.com can appear under the user’s own nixamp account.

For synchronization, the article says the host writes the playback position every 15 seconds and a late joiner lands at the current position. It reports a limit of 50 attendees per watch party. Those figures are product claims in the release article, not independently measured limits or performance results.

How do nixamp concert tickets and event rooms work?
The release article says events can represent talks, classes or concerts. For concerts, an artist role can open doors, start the event, call an encore and end it, but does not manage the guest list.

A ticket is described as a paid pass to one event room, not general access to an account or all events. Payment uses x402 and goes to the event’s own payTo address. The article says a ticketed room returns an HTTP 402 response with its price rather than a 404, and that a pass is tied to an event ID so it cannot authorize a different event. It also says events are free when no CoinPay key is configured; that configuration detail comes from the article and may change.

The article names c0ncerts.com as an initial client: its /shows directory requests events of the concert kind, and its artist flow signs in through nixamp.

Can nixamp play raw 4K MPEG-TS files?
The release article describes support for MPEG transport-stream files, including files from a capture card or receiver. Because the .ts extension can also be used for TypeScript, nixamp reportedly checks the stream’s sync bytes before treating a file as transport stream media.
H.264 and HEVC handling
- H.264: The article says H.264 is copied through without re-encoding, at any size.
- HEVC with browser decoding enabled: When a browser explicitly signals support using
?hevc=1, the article says nixamp passes HEVC through with anhvc1tag. - HEVC without that signal: The article says HEVC is re-encoded to 1080p.
For HEVC channels, the release article describes fMP4 HLS and a buffer sized to six seconds of measured bitrate rather than a fixed 4 MB. It also reports that 4K encoding through libx264 ran at 0.52× real time “on my box”; that is the author’s anecdote about one setup, not a general benchmark or a playback guarantee.
What to keep in mind before upgrading
The release details above are attributed to chovy’s article, whose search result identifies dev.profullstack.com as the original publication location and September 16, 2026 as the posting date. The linked GitHub release tag and OAuth metadata endpoint could not be independently opened, so the article’s descriptions do not establish current endpoint behavior, build availability or support in every client. Confirm the version and relevant configuration in the project’s current materials before making an upgrade or integration decision.
