Patch 3.0 adds notable cameos to Ba Sing Se and expands the game’s lobby tools: players can spectate active matches with rewind and fast-forward controls, while hosts can configure larger open or invite-only rooms. The official patch notes were last updated October 7, 2026.
Ba Sing Se adds Freedom Fighters, Bosco, and the King
The most visible stage change is in Ba Sing Se, where the Freedom Fighters, Bosco, and the King now appear as non-player characters. The update gives the setting more familiar faces without changing the stage into a playable-character roster addition.
Open lobbies add room controls and match spectating
Patch 3.0 upgrades private lobbies to open lobbies. Hosts can set room size from 2 to 16 players, choose public or invite-only access, and share or hide lobby codes. Supported cross-platform lobbies can be joined by code, although the notes do not establish that every feature arrived on every platform at the same time.

Hosts can choose standard 60-second rounds or infinite round time, and set a win limit from first-to-1 through first-to-10 or allow infinite rematches. Players joining a full game session can spectate the ongoing match, using real-time rewind and fast-forward controls.

Lobby moderation is also available: hosts can kick or ban players. Queuing and winner-stays-on settings are not part of the delivered feature set described in the notes; they are planned for a future update.
Ozai gets gameplay changes, while other characters receive updates
Fire Lord Ozai receives reimagined gameplay, three new Critical Hits, tuning changes, and updates to all three of his supports. Zuko and Katara have updated Final Technique animations, while Azula receives adjustments to effects and victory poses.

The notes also change character-specific bonus Flow regeneration: Kyoshi and Ozai no longer receive that bonus during hitstun or blockstun. The patch lists additional fixes involving projectile Flow reactions, hitstop, scaling, throws, and poor-quality relay connections in lobbies. It does not provide measured competitive-balance results, so the changes should be read as adjustments and fixes rather than proof of a particular change in character strength.

Story Mode and practice are adjusted for learning
Story Mode CPU difficulty now begins at an easier level and ramps up. The first seven fights provide buffs, and in-match popups explain mechanics such as Auto Combos. These changes aim to make early fights more approachable while introducing systems as players encounter them.

Patch 3.0 adds Ozai trials and tutorials. Some earlier trials were replaced, and Challenges are temporarily unavailable while they are reworked.

The official Patch 3.0 notes, last updated October 7, 2026, describe cross-platform joining by lobby code for supported lobbies, but do not confirm that all platforms received every feature simultaneously.

Nintendo Life reported on August 2, 2026 that an earlier post-launch update was available, bringing a Samurai Appa support-character skin, keyboard remapping, Deluxe Edition colors, and fixes. At that time, it said that update and future content were still on the way for Switch. That earlier report does not establish whether Patch 3.0 has since rolled out to Switch.
