Spend early upgrade stones on your weapon. That weapon investment continues to count toward the account’s Enhance attribute bonus even after you replace the item, according to a December 25, 2023 community guide. As your equipment improves, use additional stones on lower-tier weapons and armor to build that persistent bonus, then consider heads and refinement when they solve a specific build need. Diamonds require a different approach: blue diamonds are used for weapon summons and red diamonds for companion gacha, but no reliable current source establishes one universally best first purchase. Check the live event and shop terms before committing a large diamond balance.
Upgrade stones: the practical early-game order
Upgrade stones have several jobs in Headless Knight: equipment upgrades, head upgrades and refinement. The most defensible starting order comes from Amir Shiraz’s Clashiverse guide, published December 25, 2023. It is player advice rather than an official rule, so use it as a framework and verify that the current game still rewards the same Enhance interactions.
1. Upgrade the weapon you are actively using
Your weapon normally delivers the most immediate improvement to damage and progression speed, which makes it the best first target for a new account with a small stone supply. The guide’s more important point is that weapon upgrades are not necessarily discarded when you obtain a stronger weapon: their levels continue contributing to the Enhance attribute bonus. That makes an early weapon upgrade useful twice—first as combat power on the equipped weapon, and later as part of a persistent account multiplier.

2. Build the Enhance bonus across older equipment
After your main weapon is reasonably developed, spread stones to lower-tier weapons and armor rather than putting every stone into the newest item. The community guide describes the Enhance attribute as an additional multiplier that grows from these investments. In practical terms, an obsolete item can still have value if upgrading it increases the account-wide bonus.
Use this approach when you have several pieces sitting at low upgrade levels and your current weapon no longer provides the largest marginal gain. Upgrade the cheapest items first if the game displays the same Enhance increase for each level; if costs or gains differ, favor the item that gives the highest visible bonus per stone. Because the guide is old, confirm the Enhance panel after each purchase and stop if a patch has changed which items count.
3. Add armor after your weapon foundation
Armor upgrades help survivability and also contribute to the broader Enhance investment described above. They become more valuable when your damage is sufficient but you are dying before a stage timer, dungeon reward, or boss phase. The guide’s summon advice—roughly 70–80% of summons on weapons and 20–30% on armor—reflects the same progression logic: establish offensive power first, then bring defense up enough to keep advancing.

Stones are also used on heads, and the guide specifically calls out Skull Attack, Skull HP and Skull Defense bonus heads because their extra Hold effects can improve a build. Treat that as a targeted choice, not an automatic fourth tier. Select an attack head when damage is the bottleneck, an HP head when you are being defeated before your damage matters, and a defense head when incoming damage is the limiting factor. The value depends on your current equipment, stage and available Hold effects.

Refinement is another stone sink for companions or equipment. Refinement materials are identified as coming from the Enhancement Stone Dungeon and special events. Refine when the resulting stat or effect addresses a real weakness; avoid draining your entire stone reserve for a small randomized improvement while a guaranteed weapon or Enhance level would unlock progression.
How summons fit into stone spending
Summoning does not consume upgrade stones, but it determines which equipment you will later upgrade, so the two decisions should be planned together. The December 2023 guide recommends allocating about 70–80% of summons to weapons and 20–30% to armor until you obtain a System (red) sword. Once that sword is secured, it recommends catching armor up rather than continuing to funnel almost everything into weapons.
Those percentages are a player-guide recommendation, not a measured statistic or an official requirement. Adjust them when your account has a clear imbalance. For example, if you already have a weapon capable of clearing current content but armor causes repeated deaths, temporarily shift more summons toward armor. Conversely, if survival is comfortable and damage checks are stopping progress, keep the emphasis on weapons.

The same guide advises delaying emblems until you have a System T4 red sword because emblems act as percentage multipliers. A multiplier applied to a weak base can produce less practical progress than improving the underlying weapon and armor first. This timing is not confirmed as a permanent game rule; check the current emblem screen and patch notes if the live system has changed.

Diamonds: identify the currency before you spend
Diamonds are not one interchangeable pool in the available current documentation. A Pocket Gamer guide dated October 10, 2026 identifies two broad uses:

This distinction matters because spending a currency on the wrong summon category can delay the upgrade path you actually need. Before confirming a purchase, read the banner or shop description and verify whether it consumes blue or red diamonds, what pool it draws from, and whether the offer is permanent, event-limited or discounted.
Blue diamonds and weapon summons
Use blue diamonds when your objective is to improve the weapon pool. Prioritize a banner only when its stated rewards match your current progression plan and the game shows a meaningful bonus, guarantee or pity condition. The available evidence does not provide current prices, rates or a value ranking among banners, so do not treat a particular summon count or shop bundle as universally optimal.
Red diamonds and companion gacha
Use red diamonds for companion gacha when companions are the part of your build that is lagging. Compare the companion pool, duplicate rules and any event guarantee shown in the live interface. A companion pull may be less urgent than a weapon summon if your account is failing damage checks, but it can be the better use when a companion effect is the missing defensive or utility piece. That is a build decision, not a fixed diamond rule.
Do not spend a large balance without checking the live offer
The sources do not establish the best first diamond purchase, current event rotations or live shop prices. Save a large balance until you have checked the in-game event and shop pages on the day you intend to spend. Look for the exact reward list, currency color, guarantee language, expiration time and whether the bonus is once per account or repeatable. If those details are not shown, you cannot calculate a reliable value comparison from the available information.
Where to earn more stones and diamonds
Tower of Treasure
The Clashiverse guide identifies Tower of Treasure as a source of blue diamonds and dungeon tickets. Push as far as your account can reliably progress before spending tickets, following the guide’s recommendation. Higher progression can improve the reward opportunity, while spending tickets early may lock you out of a better clear later in the run.

Enhancement Stone Dungeon
The Enhancement Stone Dungeon is identified as a stone source and also supplies materials used for refinement. Schedule dungeon attempts around the upgrade that is currently blocking progression. If your weapon can gain a level that opens a new stage, farm that level first; if your weapon is already adequate, collect enough materials for the head or refinement that addresses your specific weakness.
Special events
Special events can provide refinement materials and may change the relative value of saving diamonds. Event rewards, dates and prices are not established by the cited guides, so inspect each event’s rules in the live client rather than assuming a previous rotation is still active.
A step-by-step spending workflow
- Record the bottleneck. Decide whether damage, survivability, a Hold effect or a missing companion effect is preventing the next clear. Use the stage result, not a general feeling about which item looks rarest.
- Spend stones on the active weapon first. Take the guaranteed weapon upgrade if it improves the next progression target and check that the Enhance attribute bonus increases as expected.
- Check the Enhance panel after replacing equipment. When a better weapon drops, confirm that previous levels still contribute. If the displayed bonus behaves differently from the community guide’s description, follow the live interface.
- Raise low-level older gear. Once the weapon gives diminishing returns, upgrade lower-tier weapons and armor that increase the visible Enhance multiplier. Compare the bonus gained with the stone cost before each purchase.
- Choose a head only for a defined effect. Select Skull Attack, Skull HP or Skull Defense when its Hold effect directly fixes your current bottleneck. Do not buy a head solely because it is available.
- Reserve refinement for high-impact improvements. Spend refinement materials from the Enhancement Stone Dungeon or events when the result is relevant to your build and you can afford the material cost.
- Separate diamond decisions by color. Blue diamonds go toward weapon summons and red diamonds toward companion gacha according to the current documented uses. Confirm the color again on the purchase screen.
- Recheck live offers before a major diamond spend. Read guarantees, rates, expiration and reward lists in the current event or shop. If no bonus is documented, saving is safer than guessing.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Putting every stone into the newest item
A new high-tier weapon is attractive, but concentrating every stone there can leave the Enhance attribute underdeveloped. Correct this by checking whether older gear can produce a better account-wide bonus per stone.
Using the wrong diamond color
Blue and red diamonds serve different summon categories. If you intended to improve weapons but opened a companion banner, stop before confirming and verify the currency label and reward pool.
Treating a community guide as a patch-proof rule
The weapon-first, lower-tier-equipment and head recommendations come from a guide published December 25, 2023. Balance changes can alter costs, bonuses or item names. Use the Enhance display, dungeon rewards and current banner descriptions as the final authority.

Because emblems are described as percentage multipliers, the guide places them after a System T4 red sword. If your account lacks that foundation, improve the weapon and armor base first unless the current game explicitly shows a different return.

Spending dungeon tickets immediately
The cited guide recommends pushing available progression before using Tower of Treasure tickets. Save tickets when a near-term upgrade or stage clear is likely to increase their return, and spend them when waiting would not change your achievable reward.

What is confirmed, and what remains uncertain

The same source supports the broad summon split, the later emphasis on armor, the System T4 red sword timing for emblems, Tower of Treasure rewards and the Enhancement Stone Dungeon.
The more current October 10, 2026 Pocket Gamer guide confirms the broad division between blue-diamond weapon summons and red-diamond companion gacha. It does not establish a best-first purchase, current shop prices, event value or banner ranking. A 2024 community discussion of a Luck mechanic recommends Luck Attack power, then Luck HP, then Luck Defense power, with single rolls used to find desirable stats before locking rows and ten-rolls used afterward. That advice should be followed only if the live game still has the same mechanic, costs and row-locking behavior; it is not a confirmed universal diamond priority.
