You can try a community Google Camera (GCam) port on the POCO C85 4G or Redmi 15C 4G, but no build is established as universally compatible or reliably stable for these phones. GCam is not an official Xiaomi camera app, and results can depend on the exact phone model, software version and APK. Keep the built-in camera available as your fallback.
Check your phone and software before choosing a port
The Redmi 15C and POCO C85 share key listed camera and platform specifications: Xiaomi lists a MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra processor, a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP front camera and HyperOS 2 for the Redmi 15C; POCO lists the same processor, camera resolutions and operating system for the C85. Xiaomi notes that features and services can vary by software version and phone model. These specifications do not establish that a particular GCam port will work or support every camera feature. See the Redmi 15C specifications and the POCO C85 specifications.
- Confirm the exact model name in your phone’s Settings and note its Android or HyperOS version.
- Choose a build whose publisher, package identity and stated Android support you can verify. The built-in camera remains the safest option if no candidate works.
GCam builds reported for these phones
A device-specific guide from GETDroidTips, updated August 30, 2026, reports several candidates to try. These are recommendations in that guide, not independently tested or confirmed compatible releases. No evidence establishes a “best” or reliably stable build for both models.

GETDroidTips’ guide and its linked community downloads are at Google Camera for Xiaomi Poco C85 / Redmi 15C. The guide does not establish an official Xiaomi GCam download or independently verify APK hashes. Before installing, check that the download comes from a source you trust and that the package matches the build you intended to obtain.

Install a downloaded APK
- Download one candidate APK from a source you trust after checking its publisher and package identity.
- Open the downloaded APK from your browser’s downloads list or your file manager. Android may ask you to allow that app to install unknown apps; grant the permission only for the source you trust. The setting name and location vary by Android or HyperOS version.
- In the Android installer, review the app and tap Install if you want to proceed.
- When installation finishes, open the app and check whether it launches and whether the camera functions you need work.
- If you enabled permission to install unknown apps, you can return to that app’s settings and turn the permission off when you are done.
The guide’s basic sequence is download, allow installation from the selected source if prompted, install and launch; labels may differ across software versions. It does not establish that a configuration file is required for every build.
If installation or the camera app fails
Android refuses to install the APK
Do not disable security protections wholesale. First recheck the APK’s source and package identity, confirm its stated Android or architecture support against your phone, and check whether another build that could conflict is already installed.

The app installs but crashes or features do not work
Compatibility may vary by build and software version. The guide suggests trying another build or configuration if the app crashes, but it provides no controlled comparison showing which candidate works best. Change one candidate at a time and keep the built-in camera available. Check any configuration file’s source and compatibility before importing it; do not assume one is necessary.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe guide also mentions changing a Camera2 API property in build.prop as a possible response to crashes. That advice is not established as safe or effective for these variants and is not an ordinary troubleshooting step; it may require root access. Avoid changing system properties simply to make an unverified port run.

What to expect from GCam on these models
Xiaomi’s product specifications list a 50 MP rear main camera with an f/1.8 lens and an auxiliary lens, an 8 MP front camera with an f/2.0 lens, and 1080p video at 30 fps for the Redmi 15C. POCO’s Saudi specification page lists corresponding camera specifications and video capability for the C85. Those hardware details do not show that a third-party port exposes each sensor or supports HDR, night mode, video or other functions correctly.
Judge any candidate on the exact phone and software version: whether it installs, whether the main and front cameras work, which photo and video modes function, whether the app remains stable, and whether any configuration file comes from a verifiable source. The available guide does not report controlled results on those measures, so treat GCam as an optional experiment rather than a guaranteed camera upgrade.
