Choose based on the work your team needs to run, not a presumed technician-count cutoff. Workiz presents a field-service platform with scheduling, estimates, invoices, communications and payments, while ServiceTitan’s feature overview emphasizes a broad set of operational tools, including inventory, reporting, job costing and commercial contractor solutions. Neither public page establishes a reliable, like-for-like total price. Run the same workflows in both demos and compare written quotes before deciding.
What separates ServiceTitan and Workiz?
Both products cover core field-service work, but their public materials emphasize different strengths. Workiz’s current plans are Standard, Pro and Ultimate, with Ultimate described for larger multi-location teams and franchises. ServiceTitan’s official feature overview lists field operations alongside capabilities such as project tracking, purchasing, job costing, reporting and integrations.
Those are vendor-presented capabilities, not a guarantee that every tool is included in every contract. Confirm availability, limits and any add-on charges for the edition you are offered.

#1 Best Overall
Which platform may suit a small HVAC or plumbing company?
There is no evidence here for a universal staff-size threshold. A small company should evaluate whichever platform handles its actual jobs without paying for capabilities it will not use. Workiz may be worth evaluating if the immediate need is a field-service workflow spanning scheduling, estimates, invoices, communications and payments, with a choice among its named plans. ServiceTitan may be worth evaluating if the company also needs to assess the broader operational set it presents, such as job costing, inventory, reporting, integrations or commercial work.
Workiz characterizes itself as suited to growing home-service teams and ServiceTitan as suited to large enterprise or complex commercial operations. That characterization comes from Workiz’s own comparison page; it is not a neutral market finding. Validate fit against your own dispatch patterns, team roles and reporting needs.
How much do ServiceTitan and Workiz cost?
The reviewed ServiceTitan feature page does not publish a comparable price. Workiz’s current plans page names Standard, Pro and Ultimate but directs prospective customers to request pricing rather than listing public plan prices. The reviewed sources do not establish comparable all-in costs for the two platforms, so a price ranking would be unsupported.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Ask both vendors for written quotes using the same assumptions. Have each quote specify:
Rank #3
- Number of users, technicians and locations, including how each is billed.
- Required features and add-ons, including communication, reporting and payment tools.
- Onboarding, migration, training and support charges.
- Payment-processing fees and any usage-based charges.
- Contract length, renewal terms, cancellation conditions and data-export terms.
- First-year and renewal totals under the same expected usage.
Workiz’s comparison page advertises $0 onboarding and no migration fee. Treat those as vendor claims to confirm in a current written quote, not as assured terms. The comparison page also contains pricing figures that are not corroborated by Workiz’s current request-pricing page or by an equivalent ServiceTitan quote.
Can you migrate from ServiceTitan to Workiz?
Workiz says it can import jobs, clients, invoices and inventory from a ServiceTitan export, and that the exact fields depend on the export. It describes the process as largely automated after the export is available. This is Workiz’s statement about its own migration process; have both vendors confirm responsibilities and scope in writing.
Before setting a cutover date, agree on:
- Which records transfer, including historical notes, attachments, payment records and custom fields.
- Who prepares and validates the export, and the expected timeline.
- A sample import and reconciliation plan for record counts, balances and key fields.
- Whether the old and new systems can run in parallel during validation.
- Training, onboarding, support coverage and related charges.
- Contract, renewal, cancellation, data-export and post-termination access terms.
How to make the decision in a demo
Use the same scenario and assumptions with both vendors. Ask the people who will dispatch, perform field work, manage the office and review reports to take part. Record where the workflow requires manual work, a separate product or a higher plan.
- Book a representative job, assign it to a technician and change the schedule while it is in progress.
- Build and revise an estimate, then show how the customer receives and approves it.
- Complete the job, create an invoice and collect payment; inspect the processing and settlement details.
- Reconcile the transaction and job data with your accounting workflow.
- Run reports on technician performance and job profitability, and ask how each metric is defined.
- If relevant, demonstrate a multi-day or commercial project, including its phases, purchasing and billing.
- Get written confirmation of which demonstrated features are included in the proposed plan and quote.
