Resident Evil Requiem is already available, having launched on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The most important buying decision is your platform and format. After that, decide whether the Deluxe Kit’s digital extras or the Steelbook package matter to you. The game alternates between FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft’s resource-focused horror and veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy’s more combat-oriented sections, and both campaigns support first- and third-person views.
Resident Evil Requiem at a glance
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline Resident Evil game and a survival-horror title. Capcom released it on February 27, 2026. The available platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. On PC, Capcom’s buying announcement identifies Steam and the Epic Games Store as purchase options.

Choose the platform and format before the edition
Start by deciding where you will play. Platform choice affects the storefront, available format, price, hardware requirements, and which physical packages you can actually find. Do not assume that a physical edition, a promotion, or every Deluxe item is identical across all four platforms.

PlayStation 5
The US PlayStation Store listing identifies a digital Standard Edition and a digital Deluxe Edition. That listing specifies one-player play, offline play, Remote Play, optional in-game purchases, and PS5 Pro enhancement. Those are details of the cited PS5 listing; they should not be treated as guarantees for Xbox, Switch 2, or PC versions.
Xbox Series X|S
Xbox Series X|S is one of the announced console platforms. Check the Xbox store page for the exact digital edition names, local price, included bonuses, and whether a particular physical package is compatible with your console. The available information does not establish that Xbox receives the same physical stock or promotion as PlayStation.
Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 is an announced platform, and Capcom also announced a Switch 2 Generation Pack containing Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. Treat the bundle as an option to verify rather than a guaranteed current listing: format, stock, and regional availability can change.

Capcom’s November 2025 buying announcement names Steam and the Epic Games Store as PC purchase options. Before buying, confirm the storefront, supported operating-system requirements, controller support, installation size, and refund terms on the live listing. Capcom’s announcement confirms the storefronts but does not provide a single set of PC specifications. Do not buy on one launcher assuming that another launcher will provide the same license or entitlements.
Digital versus physical
Capcom confirms that physical copies are sold through retailers. It does not enumerate the current physical formats for every platform, region, or retailer. A boxed copy can be useful if you collect cases or want to resell or lend a disc or cartridge, while a digital copy avoids shipping and stock problems. Verify the exact platform printed on the package; a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 product can have similar artwork but are not interchangeable.
Physical buyers should also read the package description rather than relying on a product photograph. A retailer may show a Steelbook or card in an image while listing a different standard package, or may sell a download code in a box. Confirm whether the item is new, which platform it serves, and which bonuses are explicitly included. Digital buyers should check the account receiving the purchase and the storefront’s regional currency before completing checkout.
Resident Evil Requiem editions explained
Standard Edition
The Standard Edition is the base game. The US PlayStation Store describes it as the game alone, with no Deluxe Kit or collector packaging. It is the straightforward choice if you want the campaign and do not value cosmetic extras.
Deluxe Edition
The Deluxe Edition includes the game and the Deluxe Kit. Capcom lists the kit’s contents as:
- Five costumes
- Four weapon skins
- Two charms
- Two screen filters
- A custom sound pack
- Additional in-game files
These are add-on and cosmetic-style extras rather than a separately described campaign. Compare the live listing for your platform and region before paying a premium: the contents and price shown in one store should not be assumed to apply everywhere. If a store uses a different name for the package, expand the itemized contents and make sure it is the same Deluxe Kit rather than a standalone add-on.

Steelbook Deluxe Edition
The Steelbook Deluxe Edition combines the Deluxe contents with a steelbook case and a limited-edition lenticular card. It is aimed at physical collectors who specifically want the packaging. Retailer availability was not verified for every market, so check that the case and card are included in the listing you are ordering, not merely pictured in promotional artwork.
The former preorder costume
Capcom said preorders included Grace’s Apocalypse costume. That was a preorder offer tied to the original release window. Do not assume a new purchase in October 2026 includes it; only the current product page can establish whether a retailer is still supplying that item. A listing that mentions “Deluxe” does not automatically promise the former preorder item unless it names the costume.
Current price information: use the live regional listing
Prices are time-sensitive and region-specific. The US PlayStation Store page accessed on October 13, 2026, showed the Standard Edition at $69.99. The same page showed the Deluxe Edition at $55.99, discounted from $79.99, with the displayed promotion ending October 22, 2026 at 06:59 UTC.
That unusual comparison—a discounted Deluxe price below the displayed Standard price—illustrates why you should check the store immediately before purchasing. It is a US digital promotion captured on a specific date, not a universal or permanent MSRP. Taxes, currency conversion, local pricing, platform fees, retailer discounts, and later promotions can all change the amount you pay. Physical editions can also differ because of shipping and limited stock.
Use the displayed sale end time as a deadline for that particular promotion, not as a promise that another storefront will end its sale simultaneously. If the promotion has expired, the Deluxe price may return to the listed $79.99 or change again. Compare the final checkout total, since the headline price may not include local taxes or delivery charges.
How the two campaigns play
Resident Evil Requiem’s central design contrast is the relationship between Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy. Their stories intertwine, but the official description emphasizes unique gameplay styles rather than one shared control scheme.

Grace Ashcroft: scarcity, analysis, and avoidance
Grace’s sections emphasize limited supplies. You are expected to analyze enemies and make deliberate decisions about whether to fight or flee. This structure places value on observation and conservation: ammunition and other resources are not presented as something to spend automatically on every threat. Players who enjoy tense exploration, examining danger, and choosing when to disengage should pay attention to this side of the game.
Leon S. Kennedy: firearms, melee, and counterplay
Leon’s sections emphasize firearms and melee combat. The official description specifically calls out parries, enemy weapons, and customizable equipment. That gives his encounters a more assertive combat profile, with opportunities to react to attacks and adjust your loadout. If you prefer direct action and a broader combat toolkit, Leon’s chapters provide that contrast within the same game.
Shared activities
The game’s described activities include combat, investigations, puzzles, and resource management. The balance among these activities changes with the character, but buyers should expect more than a linear shooting gallery. Investigation and puzzle-solving sit alongside combat, while resource management affects how confidently you can approach the next encounter.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
First-person or third-person view
Both Grace’s and Leon’s stories can be played from a first-person or third-person perspective. You can therefore choose an immersive view or a wider over-the-shoulder view without locking one protagonist to one camera. The perspective choice does not make the characters play identically: Grace’s scarcity and evasion focus and Leon’s firearms, melee, parry, and equipment systems remain distinct.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPerspective is best treated as a comfort and presentation choice, not as a substitute for selecting a character. Switching the camera does not remove the resource decisions in Grace’s sections or the combat emphasis in Leon’s. Buyers who normally avoid one camera style can therefore use the alternate view while still experiencing both intended gameplay approaches.
Which edition should you buy?
Buy Standard when the campaign is your priority
Choose Standard if you want the base game and are not interested in costumes, weapon skins, charms, filters, a sound pack, or collectible packaging. It is also the least complicated option when a store’s Deluxe inventory or physical stock is unclear.
Choose Deluxe for the digital extras
Deluxe makes sense when you know you will use the listed costumes, weapon skins, charms, screen filters, custom sound pack, and additional files. Treat those items as optional enhancements, not as a requirement for understanding the story. Confirm the exact Deluxe Kit description on your platform before checkout.
Choose Steelbook Deluxe for physical collecting
The Steelbook package is the collector-oriented choice. Buy it only when the retailer clearly identifies the steelbook case and lenticular card as included and provides the correct platform version. Limited physical stock can disappear or vary by country.

Grace’s Apocalypse costume was associated with preorders. Unless the current listing explicitly includes it, do not value it as part of a new Standard, Deluxe, or Steelbook purchase.
A practical buying checklist
Use this sequence to reduce the chance of buying the wrong version or assuming a bonus is included:
- Select your hardware. Confirm that you are buying for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, or PC. On PC, select Steam or the Epic Games Store deliberately.
- Choose digital or physical. For a disc, cartridge, steelbook, or lenticular card, inspect the retailer’s written contents and platform label. For digital, check the account and storefront receiving the license.
- Open the current regional listing. Review the currency, taxes, sale end time, edition name, and included items instead of relying on an old screenshot or search result.
- Compare Standard and Deluxe. Decide whether the six categories of Deluxe extras justify the difference for your market. Remember that the listed US PlayStation promotion was temporary.
- Check collector contents separately. If you want the Steelbook Deluxe Edition, verify both the steelbook case and limited-edition lenticular card.
- Check bonus language. Look for an explicit statement about Grace’s Apocalypse costume. A historical preorder announcement is not proof that a current copy includes it.
- Review features and ratings. On PS5, the cited listing identifies offline play, one-player support, Remote Play, optional in-game purchases, and PS5 Pro enhancement. Confirm equivalent details on other platforms and check your local age rating.
- Keep your receipt and edition details. Save the order confirmation showing platform, format, and bonuses in case a physical shipment or digital entitlement does not match the advertised package.
Common buying mistakes to avoid
- Buying for the wrong generation: Similar cover art does not make a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Switch 2 copy interchangeable.
- Assuming a sale is worldwide: The $55.99 Deluxe price was a dated US PlayStation promotion, not a universal price.
- Confusing Deluxe with Steelbook Deluxe: Digital extras do not by themselves guarantee a steelbook case or lenticular card.
- Counting on the preorder costume: Grace’s Apocalypse costume was announced as a preorder bonus and must be named in a current listing to be treated as included.
- Using one platform’s features as a universal specification: Offline play, Remote Play, optional in-game purchases, and PS5 Pro enhancement are identified on the cited PS5 page; verify features on other storefronts.
- Ignoring regional ratings: The US PS5 page lists Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language, but local ratings and descriptors can differ.
Accessories, bundles, and related physical options
Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller
Capcom announced a Resident Evil Requiem-themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller launching with the game. The announcement establishes the product, but current stock, price, and program availability were not established. Treat it as a collectible accessory to verify through a live retailer listing, not as a guaranteed bundle inclusion.
Grace Ashcroft amiibo
Capcom announced a Grace Ashcroft amiibo planned for Summer 2026. Because an announcement does not confirm present inventory or regional distribution, check the current retailer and Nintendo product information if you are considering one.

Switch 2 Generation Pack
The announced Nintendo Switch 2 Generation Pack contains Resident Evil Requiem, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. It may be attractive if you want a broader series package rather than Requiem alone. Confirm whether the current offer is a cartridge, download code, or another format, and check that all three games are included in your region’s listing.
What sales figures do—and do not—tell you
Capcom reported more than 183 million cumulative Resident Evil series game sales as of December 31, 2025. That is a franchise-wide figure, not a measurement of Resident Evil Requiem.
Capcom also announced that Requiem sales exceeded 6 million units in March 2026. The announcement does not provide a specific “as of” date for that tally. Use it as the reported milestone, not as a current lifetime total or a forecast of future sales.

The US PlayStation listing carries the descriptors Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language. Ratings and descriptors can differ by country, so consult your local rating board or store page if content suitability is important to your household.
The same PS5 listing identifies optional in-game purchases. That label does not describe the scope or necessity of those purchases, so review the platform’s current product information if you want to avoid any transaction features. Offline play is listed for PS5, but platform-specific feature pages remain the authority for Xbox, Switch 2, and PC.
Bottom-line buying advice
For most buyers, the correct order is simple: pick the platform you own, decide between digital and physical, then compare Standard and Deluxe using the live regional price. Standard is sufficient for the campaign. Deluxe is for the listed cosmetic and audio extras. Steelbook Deluxe is for collectors who can confirm local stock and both physical bonuses. Choose based on how you want to play as well: Grace brings scarcity, enemy analysis, and fight-or-flee decisions, while Leon brings firearms, melee, parries, enemy weapons, and customizable equipment. Both stories let you switch between first- and third-person perspectives.
