To stop Reliability Monitor’s scheduled history collection in Windows 11, disable its RAC task in Task Scheduler. To restore collection, enable that task again. This changes the Reliability Monitor task only; it is not a master switch for Windows diagnostic data or Windows Error Reporting.
What the RAC task controls
Reliability Monitor displays Windows reliability history. The scheduled task in the RAC folder is the control addressed here: disabling it stops that task’s collection. The available guidance does not establish that this deletes existing history, stops all event logging, or changes every Windows 11 build in the same way.
Windows manages diagnostic-data choices separately at Settings > Privacy & security > Diagnostics & feedback. Microsoft says that Optional diagnostic data includes Required data and may include additional device and activity details, as well as enhanced error reporting. Those choices do not enable or disable the RAC task. Microsoft Support also states: “Regardless of whether you choose to send Optional diagnostic data, your device will be just as secure and will operate normally.” That statement concerns diagnostic-data choices, not RAC collection. Microsoft’s Diagnostics, feedback, and privacy in Windows guidance explains the settings.

Windows Error Reporting (WER) is also separate. Microsoft describes it as “an event-based feedback infrastructure designed to collect information on issues that Windows can detect, report the information to Microsoft, and provide users with any available solutions.” Disabling the RAC task should not be described as disabling WER. Microsoft’s Windows Error Reporting guidance covers that infrastructure.

Disable Reliability Monitor collection in Task Scheduler
- Open Task Scheduler from the Start menu.
- In the navigation pane, expand Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows, then select RAC.
- If the task is not shown, select View > Show Hidden Tasks.
- Inspect the task listed in the RAC folder, select the Reliability Monitor collection task, and choose Disable from the Actions pane or its context menu.
Task naming can vary in descriptions and documentation: the Windows 11 how-to refers to both RACAgent and RacTask. Confirm the actual task name on your PC before using a command. A Microsoft-hosted support answer also discusses hidden tasks and RACAgent, but it dates from 2009 and concerns Windows 7, so it is historical corroboration rather than proof that every Windows 11 installation exposes the same task.
Disable the task with Command Prompt
If you have confirmed that the task name on your device is RacTask, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:

The command changes the named scheduled task. If your Task Scheduler shows a different task name, do not assume this command targets it; use the graphical method to inspect and disable the task instead. The steps and command are documented in The Windows Club’s Windows 11 Reliability Monitor guide.
Restore Reliability Monitor collection
In Task Scheduler, return to Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > RAC, select the task you disabled, and choose Enable. If you have verified that its name is RacTask, an elevated Command Prompt can enable it with:

To open the Reliability Monitor view, press Windows key + R, enter perfmon /rel, and press Enter. This opens the reliability-history interface; it does not change the RAC task’s enabled state.
Do not confuse perfmon /rel with perfmon /report. Microsoft’s Performance Monitor command reference lists /report as starting the System Diagnostics Data Collector Set, a different action. See the Microsoft perfmon command reference.
