The car often described as the new JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina Honda NSX is officially called JAS Tensei. It is a limited, individually commissioned road car developed by JAS Motorsport with Pininfarina and derived from the first-generation Honda NSX. It is not an unmodified factory Honda, a current Honda production model, or a conventional replica. JAS describes an all-carbon-fibre body over a reworked 1990s NSX platform; Quattroruote reports a laser-scanned and reinforced original aluminium monocoque, a Judd-developed 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6, a six-speed manual gearbox and a 1,250 kg dry weight.
Buying one requires confirming facts that have not been publicly disclosed: price, remaining allocations, deposit and contract terms, delivery timing, registration or homologation in your country, warranty, maintenance support and insurance. The information below separates published specifications from questions you must put to JAS or its regional sales partner.
What is the JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina Honda NSX?
JAS Tensei is JAS Motorsport’s first high-performance road car. JAS announced its collaboration with Pininfarina in July 2025, named the car Tensei (“rebirth”) in December 2025, and revealed the definitive exterior and interior design in August 2026. The concept takes inspiration from the first-generation Honda NSX of the 1990s, but the finished car is a new, bespoke build rather than a factory-original Honda.
JAS says the body is made entirely from carbon fibre and that buyers can choose from hundreds of interior combinations. Quattroruote’s October 8, 2026 launch report adds that each project starts with an original NSX aluminium monocoque. JAS laser-scans and reinforces that structure with bonded carbon structural elements before fitting a newly manufactured carbon-fibre body. The publication describes the result as neither a conventional restomod nor a replica.
#1 Best Overall
- Crafted from durable materials such as 100% die - cast metal and premium rubber tires
- Our high - end casting method allows for feature rich details, such as an opening hood, doors , detailed interior, and trunk
- Scale is 1:24
- Collect them all
- Suitable for ages 8+
That distinction matters for provenance, registration and value. The car may retain the architecture and proportions of an early NSX, but its body, engine development, suspension, brakes, electronics and interior specification are substantially different. A buyer should not represent it as an untouched Honda, and should not assume that Honda’s standard NSX parts, warranty or dealer network automatically cover it.
JAS’s July 2025 announcement also cites more than 900 race and rally wins in the company’s history. That is a company-reported historical total, not an independent reliability test of Tensei and not a guarantee of road-car support.

How is Tensei different from an original first-generation NSX?
An original NSX is a Honda production car whose value is tied to factory specification, documented service history, originality and the availability of period-correct parts. Tensei is a limited reinterpretation built from donor NSX structures and extensively modified. Neither proposition is automatically better; they answer different ownership priorities.
| Decision area | JAS Tensei | Original first-generation NSX |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Individually commissioned JAS road car styled with Pininfarina and derived from an NSX platform | Factory Honda model with period production provenance |
| Body | New carbon-fibre body; Quattroruote reports bonded carbon reinforcement around the scanned aluminium monocoque | Original factory body and structure, subject to condition and any previous repairs |
| Powertrain | Reported 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 developed by Judd Power from a Honda C30A block | Original engine and specification selected by the buyer, with factory service history as a key consideration |
| Transmission | Reported six-speed manual with H-pattern linkage, carbon twin-plate clutch and Torsen limited-slip differential | Factory transmission and differential for the particular year and market |
| Chassis equipment | Reported bespoke electronically controlled KW dampers, revised suspension geometry and larger Brembo brakes | Original suspension, brakes and electronic systems, unless modified or restored |
| Customization | Hundreds of reported interior combinations and an individually commissioned build | Factory options, colors and later owner modifications |
| Parts and servicing | Must be confirmed with JAS; no published Tensei maintenance schedule or spare-parts policy is stated | Honda announced a heritage-parts and restoration program for certain first-generation NSX work |
| Value question | Rarity, build quality, carbon construction and commission history | Factory provenance, originality, condition and documented history |
Choose Tensei if the appeal is a newly built, highly personalized analogue supercar with modernized hardware. Choose an original NSX if factory authenticity, established parts channels and a conventional historical record matter more. A buyer can also own an original NSX separately; Honda’s heritage service does not turn an original car into a Tensei and does not establish coverage for Tensei.
What engine, transmission and chassis does JAS Tensei use?
The following figures come from Quattroruote’s October 8, 2026 launch report. They are publication-reported specifications, not measurements from an independent road test.
| Item | Reported specification |
|---|---|
| Engine | Naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6, developed by Judd Power from a Honda C30A block |
| Valve train | Original VTEC system replaced by fixed valve timing |
| Peak power | 420 CV at 8,300 rpm |
| Peak torque | 414 Nm at 5,500 rpm |
| Redline | 8,500 rpm |
| Gearbox | Six-speed manual with H-pattern linkage |
| Clutch and differential | Carbon twin-plate clutch and Torsen limited-slip differential |
| Dampers | Electronically controlled bespoke KW dampers |
| Front suspension | Double wishbones |
| Rear suspension | Five-link arrangement |
| Brakes | Brembo; 380 mm front discs with six-piston calipers and 360 mm rear discs with four-piston calipers |
| Wheels | Forged OZ Racing wheels; 19 inches front and 20 inches rear |
| Dry weight | 1,250 kg |
The engine retains the C30A’s basic architecture and bank angle, but Quattroruote says other components were redesigned by Judd Power. Fixed valve timing is therefore a fundamental departure from the original NSX’s VTEC system. Ask JAS for the exact engine internals, recommended fuel, emissions equipment, service intervals and rebuild policy before signing a contract; those details have not been published in the available announcements.

The manual gearbox, carbon clutch and Torsen differential point to a driver-focused specification. They do not establish shift quality, clutch life, heat management or track durability. No independent acceleration, top-speed, braking or lap-time results have been published in the material available for this article.
What are the dimensions and track changes?
| Measurement | Reported figure |
|---|---|
| Wheelbase | 2,585 mm |
| Overall length | 4,415 mm |
| Front width | 1,928 mm |
| Rear width | 2,000 mm |
| Track change versus the 1990 original | 170 mm wider at the front and 190 mm wider at the rear |
These dimensions and the 1,250 kg dry mass are reported by Quattroruote and should be treated as manufacturer or publication figures until an independent measurement is available. Confirm shipping dimensions, lift points, minimum ground clearance, turning circle and tire specifications with JAS if your garage, transporter or road route has constraints.
How much does the JAS Tensei cost?
No public price has been disclosed. Quattroruote reports that the 35 cars are individually commissioned and built at JAS’s Atelier in Arluno, Italy, with customer customization at Pininfarina’s Cambiano atelier, but it gives no purchase price.
There is also no published information on a refundable or non-refundable deposit, payment milestones, taxes, transport, options pricing, cancellation rights, currency, or the cost of registration and compliance work. Do not infer a value from the price of a used NSX, another carbon-bodied special, or the number of race wins claimed by JAS.
Request a written quotation that separates the base commission from every selectable finish and from non-car charges. At minimum, ask for:
- the vehicle price and currency;
- the deposit amount, payment schedule and conditions for refund;
- the price and lead time for each interior, paint and trim choice;
- transport, insurance in transit, import duty and local taxes;
- registration, emissions and safety-compliance work for your country;
- warranty coverage, exclusions and the identity of the warranty provider; and
- storage, inspection and delivery charges if the car remains at an atelier after completion.
How many will be made?
Quattroruote reports a run of 35 individually commissioned examples. That is the only published production quantity. The available announcements do not say how many commissions have been signed, whether any allocation remains, or whether JAS could alter the run.
Ask for the planned build number assigned to your contract, the method used to record sequence numbers, and whether the donor monocoque’s identity and history will be supplied. Because each car starts with an original NSX aluminium monocoque, the documentation should distinguish the donor vehicle identification from the Tensei build number.

How can I order one?
There is no publicly documented online order form or complete global ordering procedure. The practical route is to contact JAS directly, state your country of residence and intended use, and request confirmation of current allocation before discussing a specification.

- Verify the contact. Use JAS Motorsport’s official channels and ask which person or entity is authorized to take a Tensei commission in your territory.
- Confirm allocation. Ask whether one of the 35 build slots is available, reserved or wait-listed, and request that status in writing.
- Establish legal feasibility. Before paying a deposit, ask whether JAS has a route to register the car where you live, which documents will be supplied, and who is responsible for compliance testing.
- Define the specification. Obtain a written build sheet covering body finish, interior materials, wheels, brakes, electronics, climate equipment and any options. The announcement’s “hundreds of combinations” statement does not define the menu or prices.
- Review the contract. Have an attorney familiar with high-value vehicle purchases check governing law, delivery obligations, title, cancellation, damage risk, force majeure, warranty and dispute resolution.
- Plan inspection and payment. Agree on inspection points, photographs, acceptance criteria and the payment trigger for each milestone. Confirm whether an independent inspector may attend final assembly or delivery.
- Document handover. Require the final invoice, build record, donor-monocoque documentation, parts and fluids list, operating instructions, warranty certificate and any registration paperwork.
JAS announced SPS Automotive Performance Hong Kong as its official Asian Sales Partner and said SPS HK would manage sales and customer service in the region. That announcement does not establish SPS as a worldwide dealer, confirm present allocation or cover territories outside Asia. Buyers elsewhere should ask JAS to identify their current regional representative. The partner announcement is available at JAS Motorsport’s official release.
What should I verify about registration, warranty and support?
These are decisive ownership questions, and none has been answered publicly for every market. Obtain written answers before committing money:
- Homologation: Is the car supplied as a road-registrable vehicle in your country, or must you use an individual-approval process? Which emissions, lighting, noise and crash documents are included?
- Title and identity: How are the donor NSX, the rebuilt monocoque and the finished Tensei recorded on invoices and registration documents?
- Warranty: What period, mileage limit and geographic coverage apply? Are the engine, carbon structure, electronics, dampers, clutch and paint covered separately?
- Maintenance: Who performs scheduled servicing, where are parts held, and what fluids, filters, belts and inspection intervals are required?
- Repairs: Can JAS supply replacement carbon panels, suspension components, control modules and glass? Is structural repair limited to the Arluno atelier?
- Roadside and transport: Is recovery included, and can the car be transported safely after a track incident or carbon-body damage?
- Insurance: Will the insurer treat it as a modified NSX, a newly constructed vehicle or a limited-production supercar? Obtain an agreed-value quotation before delivery.
Do not assume that a Honda dealer can diagnose Tensei-specific electronics or that Honda’s heritage program covers it. Ask JAS to identify approved technicians and the diagnostic equipment required.

Honda announced “Honda Heritage Works” on December 12, 2025, with a planned April 2026 launch. The company said it would supply certain heritage parts globally and provide restoration service in Japan, initially for first-generation NSX models. Its restoration menu is divided into Basic and Total; Honda says Total includes exterior and interior work, while some exterior and interior work can be selected under Basic.
That announcement concerns original first-generation NSX ownership. It does not state that Honda Heritage Works services apply to JAS Tensei, nor does it replace the need to verify current part availability, eligibility, shipping and Japanese service logistics. Details are in Honda’s Heritage Works announcement.
What is publicly confirmed about the debut and timeline?
JAS’s August 10, 2026 final-design announcement said Unit 001 was scheduled to appear at the Paris Motor Show from October 12 to 18, 2026. That establishes a planned public display, not customer delivery. A show appearance does not prove that production cars have been completed, registered or shipped.

What are the biggest buying risks?
Paying before allocation is confirmed
A limited run can create urgency, but the public information does not say how many slots remain. Do not transfer funds until the seller identifies your allocation and the legal entity receiving payment.

Using published specifications as test results
The 420 CV, 414 Nm, 8,500-rpm redline, 1,250 kg dry weight and dimensions are reported figures. They do not establish acceleration, top speed, fuel consumption, ride quality, heat resistance or reliability.
Overlooking local registration
A bespoke carbon-bodied car may require individual approval. Obtain the compliance pathway before finalizing a specification that cannot be registered in your jurisdiction.
Ignoring donor-car history
Because the project uses an original NSX monocoque, ask for its provenance, condition assessment, corrosion inspection and documentation. The carbon reinforcement does not erase the importance of the underlying structure’s history.

Is JAS Tensei right for you?
Tensei makes sense for a buyer who wants a rare, manually shifted, naturally aspirated supercar with Pininfarina design, carbon construction and a personalized commission process, and who is prepared to manage specialist support. It is a poor fit for someone seeking a transparent list price, ordinary dealer servicing, guaranteed global registration or an untouched example of Honda history.
Before buying, insist on four written confirmations: your allocation within the 35-car run, the complete delivered price, the registration and homologation plan for your country, and the warranty and long-term service arrangement. Until JAS or its authorized representative supplies those terms, the car’s identity and reported hardware are clear, but the commercial and ownership obligations remain to be negotiated.
